i had the same issue, i just gave up!
what program can open notes? NONE! try it yourself, manually drag a note from the phone to your PC... its proprietary... nothing will open the file... you can sync microsofts ONEnote, but that is not the same as the default NOTE application that comes with the touch... if anyone knows a fix/way around this to get PC to open the note file.. let me know! pj |

yep, tried that too
Forgot to mention that one, yes, browsed the phone and pulled the .pwi file off, and of course, couldn't open it on the pc.
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem. Hopefully we will get a resolution, as I really depend on MS Outlook notes in my day to day work. OneNote is a little overkill for my needs, and isn't kept in the .pst as Outlook notes are. Lisa |

more information - new devlopment
Until today, I'd never even checked the "files" checkbox under sync settngs in WMDC.
When I did, I immediately got a error: Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue, if you click Quit, the appliction will close immediately. Here are the details from this error dialog: See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box. ************** Exception Text ************** System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at Microsoft.WindowsMobile.DeviceCenter.ActiveSyncDat aTypeSettingsControl.AxWindowsMobileDataTypeSettin gs..ctor(String progId, ActiveSyncDataTypeSettingsControl parent) at Microsoft.WindowsMobile.DeviceCenter.ActiveSyncDat aTypeSettingsControl.InitializeComponent() at Microsoft.WindowsMobile.DeviceCenter.ActiveSyncDat aTypeSettingsControl..ctor(MainHost mainHost, ActiveSyncDataTypeSettings activeSyncDataTypeSettings) at Microsoft.WindowsMobile.DeviceCenter.ActiveSyncDat aTypeSettings.get_Control() at Microsoft.WindowsMobile.DeviceCenter.ActiveSyncDat aTypeSettings.ShowControl() at Microsoft.WindowsMobile.DeviceCenter.ChooseDataTyp eListBoxItem.OnMouseUp(MouseEventArgs e, Int32 index) at Microsoft.WindowsMobile.DeviceCenter.CheckedOwnerD rawListBox.OnMouseUp(MouseEventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmMouseUp(Message& m, MouseButtons button, Int32 clicks) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.ListBox.WndProc(Message& m) at Microsoft.WindowsMobile.DeviceCenter.ChooseDataTyp eListBox.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.O nMessage(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.W ndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam) ************** Loaded Assemblies ************** mscorlib Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.312 (rtmLHS.050727-3100) CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/Microsoft.NET/Fra...7/mscorlib.dll ---------------------------------------- Microsoft.WindowsMobile.DeviceManager Assembly Version: 6.1.0.0 Win32 Version: 6.1.6965.0 CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/WindowsMobile/Mic...iceManager.DLL ---------------------------------------- Microsoft.WindowsMobile.Common Assembly Version: 6.1.0.0 Win32 Version: 6.1.6965.0 CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/WindowsMobile/Mic...ile.Common.DLL ---------------------------------------- System Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.312 (rtmLHS.050727-3100) CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL...089/System.dll ---------------------------------------- System.Windows.Forms Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.312 (rtmLHS.050727-3100) CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL...dows.Forms.dll ---------------------------------------- System.Drawing Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.312 (rtmLHS.050727-3100) CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL...em.Drawing.dll ---------------------------------------- System.Configuration Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.312 (rtmLHS.050727-3100) CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL...figuration.dll ---------------------------------------- System.Xml Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.312 (rtmLHS.050727-3100) CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL...System.Xml.dll ---------------------------------------- Microsoft.WindowsMobile.Rapi Assembly Version: 6.1.0.0 Win32 Version: 6.1.6965.0 CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/WindowsMobile/Mic...obile.Rapi.DLL ---------------------------------------- Microsoft.WindowsMobile.DeviceCenter Assembly Version: 6.1.0.0 Win32 Version: 6.1.6965.0 CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/WindowsMobile/Mic...viceCenter.DLL ---------------------------------------- AnimationLibrary Assembly Version: 6.1.0.0 Win32 Version: 6.1.6965.0 CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/WindowsMobile/AnimationLibrary.DLL ---------------------------------------- Accessibility Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.312 (rtmLHS.050727-3100) CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL...essibility.dll ---------------------------------------- ************** JIT Debugging ************** To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this application or computer (machine.config) must have the jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
