It might also have to do with the area you are in and when your phone auto updates the time.
I visited my parents over Thanksgiving and could not get my clock to display the right time, no matter how many times I manually set it. Every time it connected to data the time would jump ahead an hour, almost like the Sprint Tower in the area had not adjusted for DST correctly. I almost called Sprint about it, but figured I would be out of there in a week anyway, so just lived with it. The funny thing is that my wife's LG Fusic kept correct time the entire trip. As soon as we got out of that area and into a more metropolitan area my time worked again.

Try this: Turn off 'time synchronization'. This option can be found under 'menu' when in the dialer, then click 'options', then the 'services' tab.

Just forget he even said anything, you were attempting to help. If it don't work who cares, it was worth a shot. Just don't let him get to you, then the mods have nothing to complain about to you. Ignore him.
