This is what I got:
Thank you for your inquiry regarding video playback on HTC Touch. I am sorry to hear about the issue that you are having with your device. I would like to inform you that, video functionality on the devices will differ from the device software it uses. Please note that due to software compatibility some software/games would work better on one device than the other. Ensure, the games you are running on your device are compatible with your device, from the game vendor. You can also try a master reset on the device and re download the games and see if it has improved. Please note if you have a device that is locked and branded to a carrier, you will first need to contact the carrier to track this issue. For carrier locked/branded devices, unless the mobile carrier request/authorizes for a software update HTC will not be able release it. To perform a Master-reset Start > Settings > System Tab > Clear Storage. Please note that the master reset will erase all the data on your device. If you wish to retain your data, please back up all the data from the device prior to performing the master reset. I hope we have answered your question in detail. Feel free to contact us again if you have any further questions. HTC Technical Support http://www.america.htc.com http://www.htcwiki.com

Check out the higher end Blackberrys if you want to see how a pda is supposed to act. I don't mean standing in a phone store for three minutes, exclaiming "this sucks" and walking out. I mean actually try one. They are infinitely more reliable (mine has never once crashed or frozen) and a magnitude faster with plenty of memory. Mine is GSM so I can (and do) use it anywhere in the world and it has a stand-alone GPS unit that actually worked with any GPS software right out of the box. Speaking of software, BeeJive makes top notch IM software for the Blackberry and Opera Mini runs perfectly on it, to cite a couple of apps. Mine is obviously a business phone but I hear the newer ones (and those designed for "average" users) have a camera, better media support and so on. The ONLY reason I still have an HTC phone at all is for SlingPlayer and the day Sling Media releases their Blackberry client is the first day I never use HTC anything ever again. I've been complaining about this video bug to HTC and Sprint since June (same thing happens on the Mogul) and until very recently, HTC didn't even acknowledge it was a problem. Given that, I think you have a better chance of shaking hands with Allah than seeing this fixed. Especially if the ultimate authority is Sprint who may well have purposely screwed it up to push people toward Sprint TV subscriptions. Which, incidentally, doesn't seem to have the problem. Imagine that. Sure, maybe they did and maybe they didn't, but they scam their customers like it's a business model, would it be all that surprising if this was done on purpose? It's either that or no one at either company has ever seen Windows Media Player, which has the exact same performance problem as SlingPlayer. Palm is ok, I liked my old 700wx, but they're still HTC phones and they still run fat, slow, buggy WinMo. If you want to send Microsoft and HTC a message I guarantee they'll understand, give your money to someone else. Show them the same loyalty they've shown you.

This is what I got.
ME: My Sprint Touch has no proper hardware drivers! Fix this now!! I am getting a team ready for a lawsuit. I paid over $500 dollars for a advanced phone and you don't even write drivers for it? My petition is growing and I will make HTC pay. (LOL) HTC: These devices are selected by the wireless carriers then reprogrammed, re-branded, and sometimes remodeled at their discretion. Sprint has taken complete ownership in supporting these devices. They have a technical support team for PDA devices and if required they can forward the issue to the HTC Engineers department. I would recommend you to contact Sprint technical support and escalate the issue internally. Please call them at: 1-800-927-2199 for further assistance. |

"High end" Blackberries suck even more than the Touch for video playback. They support no codecs and there is zero third-party software for them. Try playing an AVC movie on any BB - you can't.
Sprint doesn't seem to care about fixing the issue. The Mogul has gotten almost no attention and the Touch will probably be EOL before the end of the year. They need to pay HTC to fix the issue going forward. |
