Surprise hard reset on PI8 install

Wow, that pisses me off. I'm currently restoring everything using Sprite, wish me luck. I was installing from my desktop. The program said I was running something with PI already on my phone (should have made sure all apps were closed), and asked if I'd like to soft reset and re-install. I said "yes" ---- next thing I know I'm tapping the screen to set it. Frustrating.

And my worst fears realized ..... "restore failed". Hours of time spent on this phone, perhaps down the drain. Anybody else had issues with a restore from Sprite? It actually restored some things, but didn't finish the job. Weird.

Is your backup image on your SD card by any chance. This whole thing could be due to a SD card corruption, which is way too common a problem with this device.

No, my backup was from my PC. With that said, I tried another restore, this time from a backup on Jan. 8th (first attempt was a backup from yesterday). The second time around appears to have been a success. Mg, you might try another backup version if you have one available. I won't be completely comfortable until I use the phone for a day or so, but I'm breathing an uneasy sigh of relief right now. Still upset about the hard reset in the first place.

When you tried to install PI8 did you remove any old versions of Pocket Informant before you attempted the install. I didn't loos any data or have a hard reset but I did have trouble getting PI8 to install took me a couple of tries to get it to work. I had to remove the old version of PI than do a file search and remove a left over file that was located in Device/Programs files. Than I ran a Reg clean up using MemMaid after that the install went well. If you are upgrading PI, I suggest you make sure the old version is completely remove before you install the newer much improved version.

I did not uninstall PI7, so perhaps that was the issue. If I find the courage to try the install again, I'll be sure to uninstall PI7.
