another user with this same problem.

Debating whether or not I'm going to go through the hassle of returns... everything else works... you know?

If you have the $4 insurance you can take this to a sprint warranty center (usually the largest corp. store in your area) and trade it out. $7 allows you to trade out in store for all problems. $4 just covers warranty issues so you dont have to send it off to korea or wherever.

Corporate stores can not bully you around if you are well informed - they expect ignorance.

no. $4 insurance means you can get your phone replaced through asurion for $50, though technically they only cover certain items such as loss and liquid damage. they are not there to replace a phone whos touchscreen has gone bad, for example. the $4 service plan means you can get your phone repaired at a service center at no cost, but if its unrepairable youre out of luck. $7 means that you can get your phone repaired in a store, or if youre phone is damaged beyond repair you can call asurion and have it replaced for $50. in no instance can you bring in something like liquid damage or a phone that is in ten pieces and have a store replace it.

also, if it is determined to be user damage, such as a pressure mark, and it is not repairable (id imagine the touch is not a repair model) they can refuse service. im not saying they should, and usually they wont, but they do have that option. for instance, if you break a fusic in half they will replace the broken housing, lcd and flex cable. if you break an m610 in half they cannot replace those parts, so they can choose to either replace it with a refurb, or if they follow the letter of the law refer you to insurance.

Again, this is my point. My Touch screen had the dark pressure spot. I went in to the Sprint store 37 days after I got my phone (with no insurance) and they said "Sorry, it's past your 30 days. Call UTSTARCOM." I did, they gave me an SRO number and I sent the phone in. 10 days later, I got the phone back with a new screen.

I paid for shipping, and they are in NY. It was zero hassle, and almost, I dare say, a pleasure. Once again, your phone has a 1 year warranty. If you have something go wrong with your phone that can be construed as a defective part (like, for instance, the touchscreen...), I would advise anyone to call UTSTARCOM if the Sprint store won't help you.

touch screen blury

I just went to the sprint store because my second touch phone developed a blury screen while the display is powered off theres a few lines that cross the screen. They exchanged it for a new one and I have the service plan with insurance. This is my third touch phone in two months

my first one did not do it , screen blur but my second one almost 2 weeks old did it. As long as they keep replacing my phone I am okay with it just do not like installing all of the programs again

Sir, believe me when I say that every time I activate a Sprint line within SNAP that there are four options under Insurance. There are two $4 insurance versions, one of them being what I stated. TEP basically combines both of the two $4 ones with a one dollar discount. Also, I have had experience using the $4 insurance in the manner which I described.

Wow I guess I am not the only one with the screen dot. I thought that I had done it. It's on left side of my screen. DAMN HTC!

If you have TEP Sprint service center (search for service center at Sprint.com) should replace it without issues. They might order a refurb first or they might just give you a new one. TEP has paid for itself many times for me. I would not take a phone out of the store without TEP.

Lots of bad info in this thread...... (i only read the first page and couldnt take it)

Im a Sprint tech mgr....here is how this works...your screen is covered under TEP. It should cost you NOTHING to have that fixed/replaced as long as there is no liquid or physical damage to the motherboard. Since the LCD may need to be ordered as the Touch is relatively new, you may have to suffer for a bit until the new one comes in. It shouldnt take 10 days.
