Plus it has a dual core processor (phone + pda). The ARM920T, otoh, looks to be just the core processor of the Q9--so I'm not sure what is handling the radio (evdo, 1x), BT, USB, audio/video/camera and most importantly, e911 (aGPS). The original Moto Q has the same processor (PXA270) but also has the MSM6500 chipset on board (source: warning PDF) so I imagine something similar for the Q9c. The difference here relates to the available information on the internals on Moto--they're a lot harder to find. Quote:

I don't know much about this stuff, but if there is no wifi in the touch, how come there are several different paths in the registry that are named wifi?
Here are the ones I've found: HKEY_CLASSES-ROOT/CM_WiFiEntries HKEY_CURRENT_USER/ControlPanel/WiFi HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Comm/WiFi HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/ControlPanel/WiFi HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Security/Provisioning/CSPs/./Vendor/MSFT/Wi-Fi If I'm totally retarded by looking at these feel free to tell me, or explain. Thanks. |

Also the touch and mogul chips are the same chips and the boards are thought to be similar too, so the touch may actually have all, some, or none of the WIFI hardware that's in the mogul. Last edited by Primenall; 11-27-2007 at 10:49 PM. |

Well if there is WIFI on this thing Sprint and HTC has sure made a strong effort to made it difficult to enable. I have done some experimenting and have had not success. There are several things missing from the Windows directory that we would need for wifi to be operable. Namely, TIACXWLN.dll is not there as well as the executable for the HTC WLAN application. I have tried pulling the some of the things from the WM6 directory on my 6700, but some the .dll is copy protected and the HTC app will not work without the missing components. Long story short it seems like if the hardware was in the phone some of the above mentioned components would be there too.
It has been fun for me doing the hunting around. I would have loved to be the one to find the WIFI, but this should all be a mute point when, if the rumors are true, we get REV-A in the early part of 2008. |

Since they did not test it with the FCC the hardware was more then likely removed, unless BT and Wifi can use the same antenna.
In their tests with the FCC, they only tested BT and CDMA. No mention of wifi... Did I read the tests wrong? (please see my previous posts where I mention the links to the FCC info). |

BT and WiFi do operate on the same freq, so I guess the could use the same antenna. Honestly though, all of this talk isn't worth much unless someone can verify the WiFi hardware is actually in the phone. The Vogue uses a Qualcomm MSM7500 chipset which supports WiFi via the SDIO bus. http://www.cdmatech.com/products/msm...t_solution.jsp What does that mean? It means that WiFi is NOT built in to the MSM7500 chipset. It requires a WiFi device to be included on the system. (This is also true of Bluetooth on this chipset, but this is a moot point as we know that BT is included). Until someone can crack open their Vogue and score some pics, I am personally not inclined to believe that WiFi was included and then purposely disabled. |

Quote from xda-developers:
from sprint's official forum buzzaboutwireless.com Owens is the Director of Product Commercialization Quote: "Is 802.11 wireless circuit just turned off on the Touch or has it been removed prior to the street release? Can it be turned on in a future firmware release? David Owens : 802.11 is not supported on the CDMA version of the touch." not supported means its there, and we have to figure out wtf to do w/ it.! I hope this dudes right lol |
