I think there is an issue with not putting the card in fully that causes data loss.

man what THE hell.. im at the movies last night next thing i kno im tryna check something on my card and its nothing but boxes and ****...

it happened once before and i soft reset and it was fine.. but man i swear i missed half of the movie (i am legend.. not that good anyway) and was up till 2:00 tryna fix it.. had to switch to my stock 512mb card... but damn ALL my .cabs ive ever used from back when i had my treo were backed up on there... man...

nothing really different for me than what you guys have stated, but i lost all of my files, music, video, pictures, and any other files i had on my storage card. i have a 4gb sdhc card, that i bought from sprint, and it is looking bad for me. but what is really wierd to me is that when i look at my storage card capacity it says that over half of the card is being used, which lets me know that the files are still on there it's just that my phone isnt reading them. man i wish someone figures this out because i really need my files that i had on there.

I have never had a problem yet in three weeks of ownership.

My card is in appropriately, click and all, and it continued to happen until I moved everything I have onto the device itself.
I only back-up to the card now since I'm too scared to use it for anything else.
I hope they clear this up soon.

I too kept the 512MB card I was using in my Mogul and am using it. I've had zero problems. I'll try the card that came with the Mogul and see what happens.

My SanDisk 4GB card just died on me and killed all the data on it. Lost pictures, etc....I can't seem to find any correlation or common thread to all of our cases.

I'm using the stock 512 and had no problems for a couple weeks untill I linked the videos to the program manager launcher, now I can't see the files, I had TCPMP checked to run the videos in question- dont know whats up.

how do i format the microsd i dont have an adapter so cant do it through usb.. do i need a 3rd party software?

Never had a problem until today. Phone locked up and would not come out of the boot screen after soft reset. BTW this is about the 5th time this has happened in the month that I've had the phone. I had to hard reset and needless to say lose all my current progrmas, hacks, etc. For the first itme though, my memory card info looks funcky. Some files have diappeared while others are unreadable. Hmmmmmmm........

I had not had a problem with my card which I use every day until today. I had to hard reset the phone for no good reason after it became unresponsive and I soft reset. It would not come out of the boot screen. This have happened about 5 times now since Ive owned the phone. Everything would be fine, I would soft reset and It never come off the boot screen. Becoming really annoying since I lose all progrmas, hacks, settings, etc. Today though, I've noticed that some memory card files are gone while others have been altered unreadable. Hmmmmmm......

Everything was fine for the two weeks I owned my touch, until I installed a couple of games. Aquabike, monopoly, and asteriods. Asteriods didn't work. I uninstalled asteriods and aquabike. Oh yeah, I had installed them to the storage card. Tonight I noticed that all my music, pictures, and the other programs I had installed are now gone.

the problem only arises when you use SDB backup or whatever its called
anyone know how to get it back?

Corrupted Card Today
 

I've owned my Touch for a month and just experienced a corrupt card today. The root directory of my 2GB Kingston card had several folders whose names became gibberish. Couldn't open the folders or do anything else with them. Copied the folders that were still good onto my PC, formatted the card, copied the good folders back, and now I'm busy re-installing a bunch of apps that were wiped out by the corruption. Gonna be backing up this card a lot more often hereon.

No corrupted data anymore!
 

I have not lost/had corrupt data since I started using S2U2 as posted earlier. It used to happen several times a day. I set S2U2 to Power off, but Blank Screen Only on battery and external power.Also using phone alarm and have my profiles set to not turn off power(ever.) Not sure which program is keeping the data from corrupting but together it is working, so I'm not changing it.

Mine finally went today too. The card isn't even being recognized at all now. I have a SD adapter sleeve for it and my PC won't read it either, it knows its there but can't read it at all. Weird thing is that I put the card in my gf's LG Rumor phone and it can read it. Too bad she doesn't have the USB cable to transfer the files over. I know the files are still there, so I'm very hesitant to format. Anybody use an data recovery app to fix this?

Yes, I used GetDataBack to recover my files the 1 time that it got corrupted and a soft reset didn't fix it.

using my 6gb sandisk for about a few weeks now with no problems. FYI, i do not use s2u2 or any program like that.

Hello all Touch owners. Well, my card is doing the same thing that I have seen reported before...working just fine and then all of a sudden, several of the programs that are installed on the card are not working. I look at the card which has a lot of gibberish on it, am I screwed? When I go to "remove programs" tab, they are all still there. I saw a thing about getdataback, but don't know how to use it. Any suggestions would be appreciated...heck, I don't even know how to reformat the dumb thing. Thanks for your patience!!! I am pretty savy to desktops, noob to this ppc stuff..what a headache.

oops..one more thing, I do not have a micro SD card reader for my Touch Card...anyway that I can do anything (even reformat) through my phone connected to a pc or wirelessly? Thanks

Ok I had my first ''problem'' today Outta nowhere, I go to my card and its alll gibberish and all my folders were empty. At first I panicked but all I did was take my card out, reset my phone, and put my card back in and it was back to normal. Talk about a relief.

By reset I meant soft reset

did you take your card out while the phone was still on? I turned off the phone, took out the card, turned it on..did a soft reset...turned it off, put the card back in and turned it on. No luck...did I do something wrong?

No problems, stock 512 card

If a soft reset does not return your card data to normal, you will probably need to repair it or reformat and lose the data. You NEED a micro card reader. Install GetdataBack or other repair software on your PC. Then insert the micro card(with adapter) into the PC and select it to repair. I tried to run the repair software with the card in the phone(connected to PC) and It would not work. I bought a 1GB card with adapter on buy.co for $10 shipped and was able to get my data back and saved to the PC. Install S2u2 latest version and set to turn phone off in so many seconds(but blank screen only,) and it should fix this. I'm pretty sure it happens when the phone is put in sleep, in conjunction with WMP or other audio software. So s2u2 keeps you from putting the phone in sleep by blanking the screen. Im just wondering if it's using more power than when it's asleep. Anyway I hope they fix this soon with a ROM update.

It seems that s2u2 may be the culprit. I, and apparently several others, are not using s2u2 and have not had problems with 6gb and other sd cards...maybe a coincidence.

I have been using S2U2 for some time when I got my Touch and had 2 issues.. 1 where I had to format the card and the other a soft-reset fixed.

I uninstalled it 2-3 weeks ago and never had a single memory card problem..

so, the only way to recover and reformat is to buy a micro SD card adaptor or reader?

Ran ok in Mogul since July until I switched to Touch when it came out.

I rarely write to card (maps and CABs).

But iGuidance writes to it and I used iGuidance today.

I'm bummed.

Seems to be a very nasty bug. Just had it again yesterday using S2U2 and CorePlayer. Going to try S2U2 in combination with WMP from now on and see what happens.

I've been avoiding this topic like the plague!! I didnt want to jink myself posting that I didnt have any problems with my Touch and the card that came with.

Since mine is used primarily for storing cabs and my backups, I didnt worry that one day/night I'd go to access the card and nothing would be there-

Yet, thats exactly what happened!

I did what AJ described. When I put my card back in, I didnt just stop until it clicked back into place. I gave it an extra push just to make sure it was seated firmly.

My storage card2 folder came back including all folders and cabs. As we speak, I am doing a backup and then will hard reset.

I have a few programs that were stored to main memory that will NOT open now. All of them giving me the same message that it's either not signed by a trusted certificate or explorer cannot be opened.

I dont use slide2unlock.

So is this a problem with the card reader? (hardware)

I just got my HTC Touch but I haven't started using any microSD cards yet. This thread does scare me a bit, though.

OK...I have a microcard adaptor and I have seen getdataback online. It seems it is for a hard drive, anything special to do for using the microcard? Thanks!!!
