No issues here but backed up card just in case. I am using a Transcend 6gb SDHC card that I was using on my Mogul without issues. I have nothing running from card except games, GPS and Laridian software. I had the same issues people are reporting in my titan with SDHC card when the first drivers came out with SDHC support. S2U2 was an issue with those as well as having anything open from SD card when the device when to sleep.
|
Update: been fine for over a week since running everything from phone memory, and then the card went poop twice in one day. Both times I had used the camera (which was saving to SD) and the photo album (which also accesses the card).
I have found a reliable solution to the problem though: simply don't use a card. Huh! |
i find it interesting that S2U2 might be the problem, since it shouldnt play with the sd card at all. Assuming I uninstall S2U2, is there another fullscreen caller id app that anyone recommends?

Do you have a link to the working version? |
I have never installed anything to the SD card, I dont know how you guys get up to 256MB of apps on your phones!! Actually I usually install Weatherpanel Icons to the SD card but thats it. I only use my sd card to store cab files and documents and I sync up to Windows Media player on the SD card. Play music all the time, no problems. Just gave away my ipod!!! Gotta love Microsoft.

I don't know how to fix this, but perhaps an updated SD card driver - would this have any effect on the file system cache, though? |
OK no promises, but I THINK I have fixed my SD Corruption problem. Seems that I had my theme on the SD card, and I moved it and have not had anymore issues so far (only 1.5 days :p)
|
I've had mine for 5 days now and no problems (knock on wood).
Manufacture date 10/28, SanDisk 6GB card. No S2U, I constantly add/delete files from the card (card reader and file explorer), and I listen to music off the card daily. I don't have any programs or themes running on the card, and I am using HTC Home Customizer. |
The only problem that I've had is that when I was using File Explorer to view the storage card, it showed up with garbled file names...soft reset and everything was fine. That has only happened once so far.
|
Just had my Folders disappear on my Card. All thats left is my music folder. I know they are there because the bytes in use shows that there is something their.
Edit - and there is also a WMDRM folder that keeps coming back. |

Thought I would chime in to post an update on my situation. I've still been having problems with my storage card on my replacement Touch that I received about a week ago. It's different from my previous phone though because I haven't had the issue where the phone makes the files invisible...it's just garbled and a soft reset fixes it. This happens about once a day. It's annoying but at least it does come back and I don't have to re-sync everything.
I heavily use WMP to listen to music and for a while I was thinking that leaving WMP open was causing the storage card corruption but I tested that theory last night and didn't have WMP open all night and when I woke up, the stuff on the card was garbled again. I hope this is something HTC and Sprint knows about and that they are working on a fix for it because it's a pretty big issue for me. |
Mine was missing the folders last night, but after a soft reset everything came back.

It happened again today... I did a soft reset because I couldn't get Messaging to come up. Once reset, Voice Command complained that it wasn't able to load. After dismissing that error, I tried to bring up Messaging and it wouldn't launch. This was the same behavior that I encountered the first time around too! Well, I took a nap, remembered seeing something about the memory card corruption issue, came back and deleted the Outlook folder that had been created on the card (again, like you, I had the "store attachment" pref set to the card.) Did another soft reset and now it's all working again! I'm not sure if it was outlook (I have 3 accounts, imap, exchange, and sms), Egress (my RSS aggrigator), or something else that caused the corruption. But something seems fishy as I used this card on my Mogul for months without any problem and this is the second time in as many weeks that the Touch has had corruption. |
i can't keep anything on the card
yeah the phone erases everything on the card or i will just put files named like: lkjihl;
ofkljklj kjlkj it happends all time time so i don't even bother putting anything on the card! will take it to sprint and see what they have to say about it... |
it happened to me the first time tonight, it was after downloading the newest live search update which i saved to the storage card for first reset, i didnt try a soft reset but i did just dump what files i could recover off the card, and have then restored the rest manually after formatting it, hopefully this doesnt happen again

This problem is getting really annoying for me. Happens several time throughout the day. I use my Touch as my car mp3 player and for GPS and i have to soft reset couple times a day to access my files.
|
I have a 6GB card and no issues to date.
|
At this point I'm sure that it has something to do with having an application accessing Storage Card open when the phone go to sleep.
My Sandisk 4GB which I used on Mogul for 4 months without any problem got corrupted for the 2nd time yesterday. This time, I had the Photo Album app opened and it was accessing 'My Documents/My Pictures' on the card when the phone went to sleep mode. The 'My Documents' folder is now corrupted, but all other folders on the card is fine. To me, this shows that the corruption was caused by having this folder being accessed by the Photo Album app when the phone went to sleep. My 2 cents. |

100% failure when using CorePlayer to play mp3 files from the card when the screen is off. Sleep is the issue. |
Known Bug
This is a bug I had no problems for a few weeks then one day I went to sd and corrupted files. I talked with HTC and the person i spoke with stated they are aware of the issue and there working to resolve in Q1 update they asked for my ESN and sd card make and model to add to there db

Add me to the list of people with memory card issues. My 6GB SanDisk card was working great ever since I got my Touch (about 3 weeks ago) but today all of the files disappeared and were replaced with what looked like scrambled/nonsense files. Lucky for me a soft reset brought the card back to life but this definitely has me worried. The only thing I can think of that may have triggered the problem is a reg edit I did to allow the HTC Camera Album to access pics and videos in Storage Card/My Documents/My Pictures. Other than that, all I did was copy a few cab files to my card and install Memmaid to the device itself. Not sure if any of it is related but I'm definitely backing up my card to my computer. Along those lines, does anyone know of a good, free program that I can use to sync between folders? Basically, I want to sync the entire contents of my storage card with a directory I created on my PC called "storage card" - that way I can just run this sync program and any changes I make to my storage card can automatically be applied to the directory on my computer.

no memory card issues whatsoever..

I just got a Touch with Bell. I put a 2 gig in it and shortly after, all the files disappeared. Before that happened, I was having problems accessing the card. Since then, I reformated it and it is working fine,..that is until my email stopped working. I had to delete the mail attachement folder on the card to get my email back.
|
I have no idea if this has anything to do with the problem I had (or anyone else's for that matter) but I noticed that when I use Resco Explorer to look at the files, folders, etc. at the root of My Device, all of them have dates of 6/1/07 or later; however, my storage card has a date of 1/1/98. I don't know what that date signifies or where it comes from but there are no files or folders on my card with that date.

no issues here

Just a hunch
I may have come across something of value in remedying this situation. I'll test it out and report back after a couple of days.
I decided to fire up a Mogul here at the store and compare a couple of possibly-related registry entries to those in the Touch, and I noticed something interesting. In "\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\SDCARD\ClientDrivers\ Class\" there are a few folders and sub-folders, "MMC_Class", "SDMemory_Class", and "SDMemory_Class\High_Capacity". On the Touch, there is an additional registry key present that is NOT present on the Mogul: DisablePowerManagement="1" Oddly, this key appears in all but the "SDMemory_Class\High_Capacity" path, but for all I know the value could be inherited from "SDMemory_Class". Because "1" represents "true" or "enabled" (for the benefit for those who may not have known otherwise), this flag would seem to disable power management on memory cards. Since one of the recurring themes in the data corruption issue is the device going into standby mode, I can't help but wonder if this might be our culprit. So, I'm going to remove those DisablePowerManagement keys (to mirror the Mogul, rather than simply setting them to "0") and we'll see how things go. You're welcome to try it, I'd like to see if it fixes the issue for anyone. I'll keep both threads updated with my findings. |
Good find. I'm going to set mine to "0" and see what happens. My previous workaround was to set S2U2 to just blank the screen instead of putting the phone to sleep.

EDIT: Nevermind. Found it. Not using it personally. I regret to report that my previous suggestion did not fix this problem. Everything worked fine until I ran a few manual updates on Spb Insight and then the card showed up corrupted. I have popped the hood again and am tinkering with some other stuff. Stay tuned. |
I have had my files become corrupted twice today and both times I had a playlist open within WMP (I had paused the music and the phone went to sleep with WMP still open). I do think it has something to do with files on the storage card being accessed when the device goes to sleep. It's going to suck if we have to go until the 1Q 2008 update for a fix...
|
I'm tinkering with some filesystem-related registry keys now...
|
All of this stuff reminds me of the DSOD issue on the 6700...
If it truly is a standby-related problem, I imagine we won't see a fix for at least 4 or 5 months. =/ By the way, I let my phone go to standby mode while syncing with Insight... no issues. Tried pausing WMP and letting the device fall asleep... no issues. I'm trying to reproduce this issue but I'm not having any luck. |
It seems the only way I can *force* the unit to do this--- that is, in an effort to deliberately reproduce the issue--- is to open several applications that work with the memory card, including in my cases Spb Insight (while running an update), Sprint Music Store, the camera album viewer, etc., have them running for a few seconds, push the power button to put the device in standby for 10-20 seconds, turn the unit back on, and use the Quick Menu's "close all" button to exit the applications. Then when I check the memory card, I have the corruption. Reset and everything's fine.
So far I have removed the power management keys in the registry as described previously, disabled the FATFS cache (which was already set to 0 KB anyway), and applied a previous HTC patch for this issue from another model (P3300 rings a bell). After removing the power management keys, Tom Tom stopped auto-launching, but that problem reappeared after installing the HTC patch. However, since installing the patch, I have not been able to force the memory card into a corrupt state, but that's only been a couple hours ago so it's too soon to say if the combination of this stuff will fix the issue. |
I tried just the HTC patch from the P3300 and im still getting the corruption. In fact, usually i could just soft reset and have my files come back but, this time the files were still corrupted.... not sure if it had to do with the patch or not but I uninstalled it anyways...
|
Since installing the P3300 patch I've still had filesystem issues, but instead of the filenames getting garbled and the outrageous file sizes and dates, here's what's happening: The directory structure remains intact, but the files vanish. Reset, and they're back.
I decided the best way to fix this is to go Blackberry. I like Windows Mobile, except for the fact I haven't yet come across a WM PDA or phone that works as intended. Combined with the fact HTC has had this issue before and still can't get it right (and my Touch is a replacement for several Mogul's that also didn't work right) I think it's time to call it quits and go back to what works. :) |
Using a Bell HTC Touch with the provided 512mo card (bought it last week). I began having problem today ... The file names are something like "DF/&/HE" and all weird names...
The only thing I installed today is Pocket Mecanics but I dont know if it has something to do with it... I currently use my SD card to copy .CAB I want to install and I also have SPB Insight to save it's data on it... also, the camera saves images on the card. I Also use S2U2. It sucks... |
