Ah, interesting. I DO have my attachments going to the card, so I will follow your suggestion the next time it happens, storyr.

Its funny, the buildup that everyone had for this device...that somehow, some way, it would be free from defects or bugs. Ah well, even the prettiest girls have a mole somewhere, I guess.

I have a SanDisk 6GB card that was just wiped randomly.. no registry hacks, no special software installed outside of HHC.

Just happened to me once again. This time everything is missing with the exception of a file that I can't open. I've been getting both variables of the problem - files being jumbled but recoverable via soft reset and files just disappearing but still taking up space on the card. This is EXTREMELY frustrating and may lead me to go back to my Mogul.

I'm going to try and go to the Sprint Store over my lunch break to have them take a look at it. I will let you know what I find out.

It is frustrating, and it happened to me. I think the difference is whether or not you write to the card when it is in that jumbled state. Mine evidently was in that jumbled state last night when SPB backup ran.. Wahhh.. now its not recoverable... Good thing I use syncbackSE and Card Export to back up my contents (-mp3 although that is going to change).

So where do we stand with this? How many of the people who were having problems have been able to clear this up? Have any of you swapped the device?

I've reinstalled everything to main memory and am not storing anything to sd other than manual backups, and it appears to be running very stable (for now)...

I went to the Sprint store and they swapped mine for a new one. So far so good (knock on wood) but it's only been 24 hours since I got the new one so I'm not going to say it's totaly fixed.

If it does happen to me again I think I may have to say bye bye to the Touch and go back to my Mogul since they are supposedly posting a fixed ROM for it the end of this month.

oh my god. your looking for the perfect device... you'll never find it. lol. the mogul, update or not, will always have more problems than the touch on it's worst day. memory alone is enough for me to never go back.

You're right, I am looking for it and I also know it won't come. But...a smaller amount of memory I can deal with. Not being able to utilize a storage card I cannot! One of the main things I use my phone for is listening to music through my BT headphones and my BT car cd player. If you can't rely on a storage card, you can't listen to music on your phone. I wish they would just put 8GB (or more) storage inside the phone and it would solve many problems!

hasn't happened agian for 5 days now.

i have done a hard reset, reloaded all my apps and reloaded my sd card. just the way it was when this all happened. i am waiting for it to do it agian and then i am taking it in to sprint for a swap. if it doesn't happen before 12/3 i will take it in anyhow and have it swaped. i feel this way i can get the newest manufacture date. hopefully that will do the trick.

other wise i will just wait for the fix to come in a ROM update. the device is too new for HTC/Sprint to know about the bug/bugs. other than this i have no complaints. now that i know i need to keep an upto date backup on my PC this is no big deal.

i still love my touch.

lol. they do... iphone. lol. but look at all the downsides of that phone.

man, i understand your concerns. dont get me wrong. you got to look at it like this. every phone will have something wrong. and you will always have updates to fix that. this phone (touch) is looking pretty darn good for a "first ship ROM" and will only be looking better in the future. if the users here dont figure something out i'm am sure HTC/SPrint will. think about it. sprint's biggest concern is for you to buy there music. if the device has a storage card then it has to be stored there. if the sd card is a problem, people might quite buying music. that is something sprint really doesn't want to happen. as soon as sprint finds out about this bug they will be all over htc for a fix.
