any ideas/suggestions??
Thanks, Jim.
Are you sure when you were making the new values you didn't accidentally have the 5.0 folder highlighted? It it the top most folder so it would be easy to do. The values would all go into the folder that it highlighted. I would just cut and paste them back into the correct directory, wait a little bit, then soft reset. Sometimes registry values need to set for a little bit to take hold, before reseting.

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernet Settings
MaxConnectionsPerServer = dword: 00000010

Create the following DWORD value in this directory (the 0 in "0server" is a number)

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernet Settings
MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server = dword: 00000020

Are these decimal or hexadecimal??

Next we are going to take a small inert file on our device and rename it to HTC_CM_Guardian.exe and then move it to the \device\windows folder on our touch and confirm overwrite (use Resco or similar to overwrite) so the real HTC_cm_guardian won't start.

Soft reset

Now for the actual settings change to Speed up browsing with OpenDNS:

Go to Start>Settings>Connections>Manage existing connections

Select SprintPCS, then Edit...

Hit Next and Next again, then click Advanced...

Under Servers tab select Use specific server address

Enter the following:

DNS: 208.67.222.222

Alt DNS: 208.67.220.220

Hit OK then Finish

Soft reset

When you first reconnect to the internet it will ask you for name\pass......well just leave the name and pass blank and check the box to remember.

I have included a "fake" HTC_CM_Guardian file to put on your phone in the windows file, it's just the PPST.dll file from Getspc renamed.

Can you (or anyone else who did the dns change) visit http://welcome.opendns.com from your touch and see if validates? I get the "Opps! your not using Open dns" message.

I did all the above steps, dummy file overwite (verified by file size), change the server settings, on both sprintpcs and phone as modem, soft reset twice for each change, verified the opendns server entries are still there, etc..... Still get the above msg when visiting that link.

weird...its like Sprint is overiding the dns entries on the touch at the network end.

I just tried it with my phone too and it also gave me the "Oops..." page. A little searching on Google brought me to these threads: here and here.

In short, it seems like no one has figured out how to override the Sprint DNS settings.

Did this hack actually do anything? I personally could not perceive much of a difference, but apparently several others on this board have.

Thanks, this works even after reset.

any way to make spb full screen keyboard start default in full screen? now it starts in mini keyboard first, then have to push the icon in upper left to make full screen.

ahhh, good find, thanks. Well this dns hack is busted, so hopefully others read this and not waist their time trying. The registry TCP hacks did make a slight difference, not very noticeable though, maybe on graphic heavy pages.
