I must share this as I was so happy with my touch I was walking through central park listening to tunes on audio manager, then recorded video of some funky skate rs which I emailed to friends -all seamlessly without missing a beat. awesome device

i don't think that my xv6700 would ever let me do that. If anyone has successfully done something similar to this with a 6700 let me know what rom/software you are using.

Pardon me if this has been answered. Why is there no blocked caller Id ringtone setting.
Can someone please tell me?

Ferdball 01-21-2008 07:26 PM

I wonder if this thing has a reminder notification. Back in the days of the pager, when you got a page and didn't acknowledge it, the pager would sound a reminder beep every two minutes. That way, if you weren't near your pager when you got the message, you should get it the next time you walk by it.

This helps if I leave my phone on the dresser during the evening or weekend. If I get a call or text message, there will be a two minute reminder to let me know that I missed it.

On a similar note, is there a way to set the ringtone to vibe automatically when I'm asleep? Sometimes I forget to set the ringer to vibe before going to bed. I heard that this phone can do this, as well as switch to vibe when I'm in a meeting. Can this be done?

I believe the program PhoneAlarm will address all your requests.

Thanks. As a follow-up, why can't I install an exe or msi file?

Thanks, PhoneAlarm rocks.

Is there a way to have the phone go into a meeting profile when I have a scheduled meeting in my calendar?

How do I put PhoneAlarm, on the top of my HTC Touch screen.

Is there a program I have to download in order to move it around...?

Because whenver I try on the phone Start>Settings>Today i can not move PhoneAlarm above the HTC Homescreen and Date.

i know i am late and im pretty new to the site but not to smartphones and i just had to add to this thread...i had switched to sprint from verizon just for the mogul but had wound up leaving with a touch because of all the high praise...after about a week maybe two i hated the thing..the calls stopped comming in while in hibernation as well as the messages and the keyboard.way to smart for its own good it wouldnt let me type wut i wanted i know i can adjust the settings but id rather just have a full qwerty that i can control with butttons..so i am happy to say i got a brand new mogul threw service and repair and couldnt be happier just added the hhc app and am LOVIN IT! cant wait to see what else this baby can do!

Re: Sprint HTC Touch - First Impressions, Questions, etc.

Just got this phone as a free upgrade from the Treo 700wx. I've been drooling over it since it came out. I loved the Treo and it was an awesome phone and I would keep it in a heart beat (speaker stopped working and they didn't have any in the store), but the nice big screen of the Touch is so nice and it is so much smaller than my Treo.

Now to tweak it...

PS. Thanks for all the advice on these forums.

Just got my Touch today.
So far I am liking it, I was worried the Touch KeyPad would drive me to not like it, but I am actually liking it.
Now it will be easier for me to txt with the wife while I am driving (it was kinda hard to txt and drive at the same time with the Mogul)

Re: Sprint HTC Touch - First Impressions, Questions, etc.

When my wife saw the Touch she was like "Holy crap that is thin!"
Still getting used to how small it is. Never had a phone quite that thin.
I mean my Sprint phone history is as follows:
Samsung n400 (back around 2002-2003 timeframe, when I first went to Sprint)
Sanyo 8100
Sanyo 5500
Sanyo 5600
Sanyo Kitana
Sanyo Kitana II
HTC Mogul
...and now currently the HTC Touch

I took a plung about a month ago. Sprint recently replaced my broken mogul for the touch. At first i was alittle upset because of the physical keyboard, but now i'm upset that it took me this long to get the touch. lol

I'm loving my Touch...I got it last Friday and my 1st impression was like alright the phone is okay...But now that I got familiar with the WM OS , I'm in love with it...I just wished the mp3 ringtones would sound louder when someone calls and maybe if the status light was a little bit brighter and a variant of colors..

ahhh the touch... it's a good device for some,:twisted:and an even better guinea pig for me:twisted::twisted:... i'm getting another touch for the lab in due time, so let the nasty experiments begin! lol. it's quite enjoyable since i bought it last friday, so the next thing i'll do after flashing a custom rom is trying a bigger page pool. amazing on how much this thing can handle.

Same here...With spb full keyboard the phone rocks..And if this gets WM 6.1 with threaded SMS then it would be killer...Loving it though..

Re: Sprint HTC Touch - First Impressions, Questions, etc.

I like it alot. It is alot different then the palm I had before. The biggest thing that i found that i dislike from the windows base phone is that if i try to save my contacts on my computer it deletes them off the phone and puts the contacts from my outlook on the phone. Which there are contacts on my outlook that i DO NOT want on the phone. The palm sync up with the "palm desktop" and saved my contacts there.

Its seem like there are alot more programs out there for the touch. There is more customization that I can do on this phone that i could do on the palm.

Does anyone have any solutions to my problem? I take pics on my touch and when I go to view them in my photo album they are showing in a smaller 160x120 view instead of 320x240 or bigger. I went to my capture settings on my phone and clicked on advanced but it will not let me change the capture format to anything else but a JPEG. Can someone help me. Thanks

Re: Sprint HTC Touch - First Impressions, Questions, etc.

I'm loving this phone. I did my research before purchasing and went with the Sero plan from Sprint (Unbeatable prices by the way). Once I got it, I ported my number over from T-mobile and immediately upgraded to Rev A and JD's Hybrid Rom. GPS works great by the way. Loving the phone! It's thinner than my remote control for my garage opener and just a little bit longer.

My first PPC. I'm loving it since day one. My girl has it too. Freaks from SPJ trying to downgrade the touch coz all of them are mogul users. Doesn't even come close in my opinion.

I have an Htc touch, Why when I dial a phone number does my phone automaticaly call a number from my contact list instead of the number I actually dialed?

Re: Sprint HTC Touch - First Impressions, Questions, etc.

Some first impression questions:

1. How many data plans does Sprint have? Is there one for internet access for the phone and another for phone-as-modem?

2. What "radio" is being discussed in the forums? Bluetooth, Cellular, AM/FM?

3. If I select an entry in Outlook and use either the soft or hard key to call, nothing happens. Is there a setting I have to change?

4. How does the screen resolution compare to the iphone? as good? better?

imneveral0ne 06-07-2008 11:57 AM

Re: Sprint HTC Touch - First Impressions, Questions, etc.

1. yes they have plans just for the phone as well as phone as modem

2. the radio is the cellular radio

3. i dont make calls from my outlook list so i cant help you on that one

4. never used one but ive heard that the iphones screen looks way better

Could anyone comment about Verizon 6900
1. call quality
2. speakerphone quality
3. ease of phone use while driving (theoretical, of course)
4. photo quality (is the color off?)

Definitely NOT a phone you want to have if you insist on being that person always making calls and texting while driving.

Re: Sprint HTC Touch - First Impressions, Questions, etc.

Just received my touch last Friday. Played with it all weekend, was finally able to get internet on my laptop via the bluetooth connection. One 'first impression' issue I am having are the requirements for all the adapters to do _anything_. It seems that if you need to:
Charge the phone
Wall -> Phone
Computer USB -> Phone
Listen to music

pretty much anything it requires some adapter dongle. Seems a little absurd to me and will become a slight hassle as I will always have to be carrying around some kind of cable with me if I want to do anything. It also does not seem to come with an adapter for a 3.5mm headset.

Other than that, I am going to continue probably downloading programs until I figure out which ones I will actually use on a regular basis, then do a hard reset and install only the programs I need as I can see how my current install will become quite bloated.

Re: Sprint HTC Touch - First Impressions, Questions, etc.

I just got my phone swapped (hardware keyboard was acting up) to a Touch because they were completely out of Moguls. I had my Mogul since August and I liked the device for the most part, except for the non-flush screen (everything is moving towards finger based movement) and the speed of the device. While Mogul ROM development has really improved the phone beyond what I could possibly imagine, the bottomline is that 64megs of RAM is simply not adequate for WM6.

Anyway, moving onto the Sprint Touch... The device is so much thinner than the mogul and the flush screen makes a huge difference, especially when trying to scroll. I love having the 128 megs of ram and not having to worry about what programs I install. I am running S2U2 without impunity! I have also adjusted to the touch keyboard rather quickly. HTC did a real good job with the 20 key SIP and I am texting pretty fast already.

I immediately installed JD's custom ROM and everything is running great. My only issues with the is rom, is that it has an older Opera Mini version on it which is unsigned. It also has a funky HTCHome which didn't display the music tab and it's weather was not updated for US cities. Other than that with all the customizations I made, I am able to get all the features of the Mogul (except for Wifi which I never used).

I was thinking about upgrading to the Treo 800w or even the Blackberry Bold when it comes out, but now I will stick with the Touch until the Diamond and Touch Pro come out for Sprint. The doubled ram and flush screen are the two biggest advantages over the Mogul imho.

Re: Sprint HTC Touch - First Impressions, Questions, etc.

Hey all,

Do you guys know why Verizon charges more for the 6800 as opposed to the 6900? I ask, because I'm looking to replace my 6700 with one or the other, and I don't see any major advantages to the 6800. In fact, the 6900 appears to come out on top with the high RAM.

Thanks for the help!

Mike

Hey all..Just ebayed myself a Telus Touch..
I'm interested in customizing it and what not but I'm not sure exactly where to start.
Is there anything specific I should do before I jump into flashing etc..?
Or would anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do with it first?

Thanks for the advice.

Welcome and great to have you here.

This is not really the thread to ask in. Nobody has used it for some time.
The search button on the upper tool bar of this website is a great place to find information.

Best place to start is in the touch forum. I recommend that you spend several hours searching and reading.

Good luck

I have upgraded my rom to a custom version. I used imcokeman 2.31 unlocker. Ever since then the phon will not stay on. It constantly reboots after just a few seconds of getting to the today screen. Has anyone else experienced this. One other thing, the phone stays on as long as it is conected to active sync. Is there a setting that I need to change?

Thanks,

Re: Sprint HTC Touch - First Impressions, Questions, etc.

My first impression was "What in the world is this thing!?". To further clarify, I had a Razor V3M and for this past Christmas my brother gave me his 1 year old HTC TOuch Vogue. I had watched this guy adding and taking things from this phone but I didn't really see what he was doing. But now that I have it, I feel like I've been living in the days of covered wagons and have just stepped into the present. This phone scans barcodes and transcribes my hand writing with ease. It ID's songs from the radio and has Microsoft office on it. NOw I know all of your phone can probably do this too. But I must admit that I am blown away. All my razor could do was play a few games. But this phone, I think honestly, is better than my ipod touch. So Kudos' to the Mod Master Oxymoron238 for not only modding my phone to the point of magic. He also found a perfect functioning touch pro! =D THank God!
