To me this is the deal maker / deal breaker. If you say it's good I'm going to begin haggling with customer service.

HOW IS IT???

Thank you :)

Well I dont like how the qwerty keyboard cant be opened at will, so I downloaded touchpal and am happy using it.

willysp 11-05-2007 01:51 PM

Just put on screen protector that comes with it.

Not bad - pretty high quality, clear, went on with no bubbles. Doesn't obviously affect touch screen responsiveness. Covers entire screen - not just rectangular area.

Doesn't want to stick on one corner, and has score / scratch lines all around near the outer edge (outside of the retangular center screen) from cutting process. It's an exact fit - so a bit tricky to put on, no margin for error.

Edit: I see that Boxwave has HTC Touch screen protectors, so will probably order one of theirs.

I love the soft keyboards and how they are implemented. Very quick learning curve with XT9 predictive text enabled.

I really can't find any reason to bitch about the Sprint Touch on my 5th day with the device. That's a record for me!

* Scroll down e-mails list.
* Scroll down within the e-mail itself (opened e-mail).
* Scroll down on 3rd party apps, Newsbreak specifically if anyone uses it.

Thanks ;)

Newsbreak works fine!

It looks similar to the Mogul one just smaller. Honestly the touch fits great in my pocket.

I couldn't see the vid - maybe cause I am work... which thread was it in ?

Did you mean it fits great with the holster ?

djcantflow 11-05-2007 02:55 PM

Try going to www.phonescoop.com they won't have side by side photos but you can get the dimensions and just about everything else you can think of all of which is side by side. If you haven't already I would suggest going there.

Sorry I meant to say that the Touch itself fits great in my pocket. I haven't even put the Touch in the holster. I will try later tonight, but it definitely is a smaller holster than the mogul one.

Thanks for testing!!! Now I need to seriously start thinking if I really need a hardware keyboard or not... I never used wi-fi, so that's a non-issue for me.

Cool!

One question. When the battery goes to savemode can you still see the screen or does the backlight shut off completely? I recall the mogul satys on very dim.

The Mogul stays on very dim? Mine doesn't.

The Touch is so small and sexy it'd be a sin to put it in a case IMHO. Gotta get a lanyard for it, though. Shame they don't include one...

A pouch is all that should be allowed for the touch.

Yes, it works like the Mogul - after the backlight interval (30 sec for me), goes dim, then in another 30 seconds goes dark. (Though the Mogul stays dim for over a minute - and I have both set to battery timeout=30 sec, ext power timeout=1 min). I just tried them side by side.

I have some questions about the Touch...

1.) is flash 7 a must for internet explorer? what browser does it work better with?
2.) does the touch come with MMS? If not, what is the best version i can install?
3.) Is there a screen locking program already built into the phone? (besides device lock)
4.) is the speaker phone and earpiece loud?
5.) does the camera have good picture qaulity?
6.) does microsoft live search work on the touch?

Thats all for now, thanks!!!!!

3) I do like the fact that you can map the extended hang up button hold to lock the device. One less registery tweak to stop Flight mode.

willysp 11-05-2007 09:49 PM

Couple more observations after carrying both today.

Both started with full charge 12 hours ago. Mogul has Seidio 1650 mAh battery (2 months old), Touch 1100 mAh stock. Mogul almost no use. Touch moderate use - probably equivalent to 1 hour on, playing, surfing, etc. Mogul at 60%, Touch at 70%.

Screen side by side comparision - both set at 2 ticks below full bright. Touch is brighter head-on and from all 4 off-axis directions. Touch is sharper and higher contrast head-on and 3 off-axis. From the 'below' off-axis (tilt top away from you) Touch significantly loses contrast. (Not a big deal for me - I've had it for a day and just noticed it). Start to see it at 30 to 40 degrees.

Superb with my nXZEN 6000 (BT 2, DSP, new & kinda high-end headset that just would NOT work with my Mogul). Wife says it's fine, and she's always hated any wired or wireless headset I've used.

Thanks ! Great site. Though I would still like to see the pics as the form and contours can make them 'feel' smaller or bigger, but the site was great help. No regret that I am waiting for replacement Touch :)

I just picked up a Touch yesterday. I don't know if anyone else has reported this but it works great with the new Microsoft Sync in my new Lincoln MKX. After parring, the Sync downloaded all my contacts very quickly. I can now just tell Sync a contact name and phone type and it completes the call. Bluetooth sound quality was great.
I know some people say they have SlingPlayer mobile working but when I try to install it says it must be installed on a smartphone. I used smartphone v1.5. Is there something special I need to do?

GODZSON 11-06-2007 12:01 PM

Account Services sending my TOUCH by wednesday.. Will keep MOGUL though like the apps and tweaks.. I'll t6ake some piks and post as soon as I get it. Looking forward to the apps and tweaks on the touch.. You guys seen the TOUCH DUAL? Looks like a slider and smaller screen.. :P don't likes. Ima post once take the pics.. Be Safe

Yeah you need to use a PocketPC version. Smartphones=no touch screen PPC=Touchscreen.

Thanks Donatom3. My stupidity. Works fine.

I have had the touch for several days now, still have my Mogul, for a few days. Here is what I found and think:
The lack of KB isn't that bad, I do miss it a little, but for the most part I use the transcriber, used it on the Mogul, and even better on the Touch.
I do miss the wifi, but evdo is fast, if rev A ever shows even better.
Would like a flash, but the RAM is so much better, it makes up for it.

My only questin is, I don't see an IR port, but it does have the option to send/recieve a beam, any info?

there is no ir port, but it does receive and beam through bluetooth. it works pretty much the same, just that you dont have to have your and the other person's phone right next to each other

Then why get it if you feel so strongly towards the keyboard?

On the other hand, I just got mine...

I love the rubber feel to it. It feel much better built then the Mogul which I felt was gonna snap one of these days.

The screen is weird, it has white-ish tone to it unless you are looking at it from an exact 90 degress angle.

I don't know if it's me needing to get used to it, but finger scrolling seems very hard. Either doesn't work for me, or I end up selecting a shortcut/text.

I don't miss wifi since I never used it. But I feel this device could have definately kept the scroll wheel the Mogul has and maybe a couple more of hardware buttons, including the OK button.

I'm starting to customize it now and will report more later. However, I am happy the device is so much more responsive than the Mogul and I don't have to waste memory installing the Touch dialer, theme, etc. since it all comes standard.

Ohhh the packging was very nice too actually!
