All official ROM updates hard reset the device - so yes, you'll lose your customized cube, along with anything else that you haven't made a backup of.

What backup program should be used? Will
the backup program actually restore all the registry settings -- i.e. new icons .brn files?

Thanks!

Take a look at Sprite Backup. I dont use it myself, but many users report good things about it.

Its my understanding Sprite will reinstall your apps, but for registry settings its hard to say.

I use Sprite backup and it restores everything exactly as when you make the backup, but in the case of a New Rom update, backups don't work, you just have reload everything and make a new backup with the new rom.

so it doesn't seem to say GPS or Rev A are coming to the Touch on sprint.com.... maybe i'm just tired and mis-read it.... The mogul ROM update will work on the Touch?

I tried the touch. I hated the battery life and the fact I only had one programable hard button. The touch interface is not the best and can be a problem. I returned the touch purchased a mogul and loaded the software for the touch on the mogul. As a past PPC6700 owner I am PISSED at sprint for still not offering the service to display the number of voice mail messages on both the mogul and touch. I guess those willing to pay a premium are not worth recognition. I use the itrek M5 for GPS and it works great. The fact that Sprint cant get their voicemail worked out I am happy to have a third party GPS. If sprint handled the GPS I probably would end up in the ocean
