NFSFAN has stated himself that unless you have TouchFlo enabled, including M2D in the ROM does nothing to slow it down.

If you are using Titanium (windows default under settings/today) and not M2D there are no processes running that would cause speed issues. The only issue is the loss of program space.

Many users still use M2D, I suspect that will be true until Titanium comes of age (officially released!!!!!) and has more function to it such as a easy to use music plugin etc. The dev's here and XDA have done great but I can't wait to see what HTC does.

Untill then, cooking M2D into a ROM allows it to run waaaaay faster and more stable than adding everything + patches yourself. Many users asked for Manilla to be included and NFSFAN listened. His TP ROM has both as well.
