DZO over at XDA got OpenGL to work on Android using a vogue back in April so the device is definitely capable of better performance. Can't wait to see it on WM

Hahahaha.
Nice one. :D
I was hitting myself upside the head for the last couple posts in this thread.
haha.

I wish there was a way to dump the rom onto a sdcard.
I would go to my local store and tell them I need to check out the diamond,
and then put my sdcard in it and say I need to play with it for a little bit and see if I would like to upgrade, but I need to be sure before I spend all that money. blah blah blah.
It would be perfect. hahahah.

I wish the TP2 was out for my carrier.
If it was I would do this,
then trade it back in for the TP2.
But last time I got f*cked into the 2yr contract with alltel by doing the above.
Well it wasn't exactly the above process,
I had a phone, and it was the first gen,
and I had gotten manager approval that if I didn't like it
I could bring it back within 15 days and get my old contract back again.
Then I brought it back due to problems with it
the manager told me he'd let me have another 15 days
to try out another one of the same phone,
brought it back within that week,
and long story short,
I got stuck in the 2yr contract.
But it's up in like a month and half.

So if no one gets the OpenGL driver by the time the touch pro2 comes out for my carrier, and if I get the phone from my carrier I'll get the diamond first and dump it, then return for the touch pro2. :D
But don't count on it, it really depends on if alltel
cuts out ram like verizon does to all their phones,
or if they make it really ugly looking.

haha, and this thread is only 9 pages long at to tell ya the truth
I haven't taken the time to read all of this.
haha.
I've been such a noob in helping with development of stuff lately.
I've been helping too many people with their problems flashing and what not, that they are starting to rub off on me with the laziness in not wanting to read. sorry whosdaman.
](*,)](*,)](*,)](*,)](*,)](*,)](*,)

But really, I just spend the last 4 and half hours posting fixes at xda.
I still have like another two forums to deal with,
and I think I'm pushing those off till tomorrow.
I wish I could get paid to do this,
after a ten hour shift, and then hours sitting here,
everything starts to blend together. haha.

Again I apologize for my noobness.
I'll actually read this whole thing tomorrow.

Been looking over the OpenGL Driver thread at ppcgeeks...
I'm going to restate this once again, since it was asked on another thread here, and codybear seems to be killing himself over this :P

The HTC Vogue is QVGA
The HTC Diamond is VGA

We need a new ddi.dll that supports the following functions: ScreenUpdateByFlip, ScreenUpdateByCopy and GetPrimaryGPE (not necessary).

The HTC Vogue doesn't have any of these functions, the Diamond obviously does, but it runs a VGA screen. Even if the processor is an MSM7500 which I highly doubt, the ddi.dll from the Diamond would not be compatible with the Vogue, because of screen size. I've dug deep enough into this, and I am 100% certain that what I am stating here is without error. With that said, pure Hardware acceleration on the HTC Vogue is most likely never going to be possible, due to the Display Driver.

If any porting is to be done, and loads of modifications through disassembly, it has to be done to the Diamond ddi.dll, and not to the Vogue. The Diamond ddi.dll also calls onto ahi2dati.dll which is the driver for the ATI Imageon hardware, then it calls onto disptools.dll which is a Display Hardware Library, the Diamond wce_rex.dll also needs to be ported to the Vogue, this would be in the XIP, along with MMMAP.dll. These are some of the dlls I can remember off the top of my head, but porting these is useless without the proper ddi.dll. The OpenGL library is also useless without the proper drivers in place, the d3d ati driver, the opengl library and the ati hardware interface driver are all dependent on the proper ddi.dll with the 3 functions mentioned above, with the first two being critical and primary concern.

EDIT: Alltel ROM posted there is from a Diamond that runs MSM7501A chipset.

This is quoted from a guy that knows his sh*t.

Nfsfan.
He said he he researched it, and in order to do that you have to port like 7-9other dll's to get it to work, but long story short it won't work on our vogues because of the main thing not working or something like that.
I don't know exactly what he said after the post I quoted,
It was a day or so ago.
It's in his thread at xda for his vogue rom..

I'm getting the TP2,
but I'd be more than willing to try and help work on this.
I plan on getting a dump of the verizon diamond as soon as I can.
I might even start scouring other forums to try
and get someone to dump me one.

Cody, weve been trying for a month now, its no use....Diamond is too old for anyone to get it for Verizon...

Might as well start collecting for TP2, hey if you want me and you can team up on the ROM, it will be my rom but you can be the guys who supplies me, and I will make sure you get recognized for it :)

Well I was gonna do the sd card dump if I could ever get a ride.
But I'm not sure how to go from a dump.bin file to usable files.

Sounds good to me.
I was planning on trying to get my vogue faq updated by like tuesday/wednesday and then focusing on starting to gather anything and everything for the TP2.
Get everything ready and organized for a faq here when they open the TP2 section. So yeah, sounds good to me.

I hope verizon gets the TP2 and doesn't butcher the ram though.
If they do, then alltel better get it since I have alltel and am eligible for an upgrade. I can either upgrade with alltel for like the next few months and still sign a contract with them, or switch over to verizon and resign a two year contract. Ugh, it just needs to get released already...

Re: OpenGL Driver

ok so you have issue with dumping .bin would it be easier to use a dumped files and modules it takes longer like 8-9 min im at my lake home til next wensday.. ill goto a verizon station in mall in duluth i live in superior and tell em i want to dump the files and till em if i break it ill buy it CASH usally underpaid ppl ill bribe em if need be.. i have anouther software the dumps from storage card.....and i do believe that with the right files a dll can be writin for the vogue as im not into tp2 cause i want the phone with snapdragon and bigger screen giving mine to daughter 13 yo n nov as first cell and insured so shell get freebee when lost..just becuse i want to see it work ill help what i can im not a coder by any means i have very differant abilitys to help this along...

does the diamond have the same slot as the vogue hmmm

D*mnit.
Then I'll have to call alltel and see if they will get it soon.
If not, then I might just have to wait and get a TP1.

But I have been instructed to relay the following here for you guys::

Tomorrow I will post a vid to show how well any type of 3D processing works on the Touch Pro CDMA. It is important to keep in mind that with no custom rom out there that I have tested, or stock ROM the game NFS Undercover works on or GLBenchmark. With the optimized OpenVG 1.1 support and OpenGL CM + CL support, and custom optimized drivers which I've worked on countless hours with no sleep (overrated), and lots of RedBull (great for long projects, that require no sleep) the Touch Pro really shines, while being able to use its full hardware capabilities. The game runs with zero lag or slowdowns, its 100% fluid, and framerate is definately over 30 fps.

This same result will be achievable on the Vouge, with most likely even better performance, due to a smaller screen size. The Vogue will be able to render 4 million tris/sec, unlike with Touch Pro which is at ~1 million tris/sec due to the larger screen resolution. Even at 1 million tris/sec its fluid, and doesn't sweat running OpenGL or D3D apps/games.

Enjoy V10, and look forward to what the future brings. If there are any developers out there, especially those with knowledge in device drivers, whether it be for x86 or ARM please come forward. I've done already lots of work to the porting of D3D+OpenGL for the Vogue, disptools I've modified to accept proper calls from the diamond/tp smem. Right now I've got the diamond/tp rex ported and modified to run for Vogue. vddi wrapper written to fill missing ddi functions from the vogue, although haven't finished all of the imports yet. Right now I'm at a wall with clkregim which seems to be device dependent in one form or another, throws exception errors if initializing 3D on Vogue. Anyhow there is one more missing link and that is clkregim, the rest seem compatible and do not require wrappers hopefully.

NFSFAN OUT....

I would suggest speaking to those guys struggling with the OpenGL Driver on ppcgeeks. The Diamond Verizon dump won't help us at all. I've stated what needs to be done, a few pages back. Also as mentioned before, I've written a wrapper for the ddi to fill in the missing functions. Main problem is that Diamond that Verizon has uses MSM7500A @ 528 Mhz, not exactly the same processor we have.

LOL. Linux is pretty cool. I'm debating whether
or not to put it on my new computer I'm gonna build in a month.
I play some games through Steam (Counterstrike: Source, Team Fortress 2)
and like two more. I'm not sure how compatible those games would be.

I'm not the one to talk to you about Linux, my good friend is, he hates windows soooo much....

he tells me all the time what linux is doing

Did you know that HP is going to Android only, no more Windows...
Also if you get Linux, get WINE (WINE IS NOT an EMULATOR) Thats what it stands for....

But it runs windows programs within linux
