Re: WM6.1 build 20755 GPS kitchen

Anyone get "application not signed" error when they use the s2us in the kitchen? When I use a oem I get from dharvey it works fine but the kitchen one keeps giving me this message when I try and save settings and it never launches when it should, only when running the app manually. Thanks!

Edit: As a humorous side note when I hit end to ignore a call it cycles through playing every ring tone on my phone until I reset it. No point in troubleshooting, I'll just use someone else's S2U2.

Code:
'Error building default.hv and user.hv!
Is the cause of this typically a problematic OEM? Any advice?

Re: WM6.1 build 20755 GPS kitchen

If you were really interested in seeing the difference, you could pull the following files from OEMDrivers and and create a personal OEM to put them into your ROM. Your boot screen will still reflect 3.09, but you'll have the updated dlls in your rom.

At least I think this would work ... <shrugs>

Code:
battery.dll
eT9Ime.dll
gpsid_qct.dll
oemagw.dll
qccmquery.dll
TaiServer.dll
msm7500usbfn.dll
rilphone.dll
Serial_BTUR.dll
smem.dll
VIRSER_ATCMD.dll
VIRSER_DATA.dll
VIRSER_DMR_DPRAM.dll
I imagine that GGuruUSA, Colonel and the crew are doing some evaluation to determine if it is a good idea to bring all of these items into the PPCKitchen. After all, as we all know, latest isn't necessarily always best.

Best regards,
-boggsie

i believe that the newest driver, radio, or kernel are always usually better. newest software with new feature may not be because new features can introduce bugs.

I've only been around the Windows Mobile scene for about 24 months and most of that was as a user of a SmartPhone, so I can't speak to the history of this platform.

However, it is important to recall that Windows Millenium, while a later release, was not percieved to be an upgrade to Windows 95/98 and Windows Vista has been a frequent target of criticizm of being a downgrade for Windows XP users.

The point being: just because it is later, doesn't always mean it is better and I believe that the PPCKitchen team takes this into account, when planning to upgrade releases.

Re: WM6.1 build 20755 GPS kitchen

I have noticed that since I installed this ROM my internet is always on reducing battery life considerably... I have verified through Tasl Manager and turn everything off... It is as if I'm downloading a never ending file... Something is making it go online.. I discconect it and it goes right back on... Any ideas or suggestion?
I'm using Vogue - Sprint

i would agree with you but i think you are missing my point. i did not say if 20755 is better than all the previous builds. i'm simply talking about the oem rom kernel 3.10 vs 3.09. latest kernel is usually always better. it is not the same as win98 vs win millenium or win xp vs win vista. we are only talking about the core of the system here. but again i'm not picky. i'm happy with what ppckitchen put out. it is way better than the htc rom. i'm only curious if they will release rom with 3.10 thats all.

i have notice the decrease in battery life too with 20755 and 20748. on the other hand, i notice that these two later build are faster than the previous builds. however, battery life is more important for me so i have gone back to 20273.
