Official Bell Mobility GPS/Sat Radio/Rev A. Update!

Mine is the same. On startup it says 3.09.666.1, but in the Device Information it says 3.08.666.1.

can someone help me with gps primarily agps? when using Google maps with no gps satellites during radio 3.37 google maps would give me approximate location. Now 3.42 nothing happens keeps on showing searching for satellites.

I haven't read anybody else mention this discrepancy. When I start up my touch the very first screen shows in red type is that my ROM Version is 3.09.666.1 not the 3.08.666.1 as everybody else's. I downloaded the rom from the link in the 4th post so I have the same one as everyone else, so I can only assume it just a typo by HTC. I can't check my "Device Information" because I am running a custom rom.

Just so everyone knows, this rom is missing VIRSER.dll, adding it to the windows dir made my gps even better in google maps! This rom rocks, although I really wish it had usb2pc like the other roms

what is virser.dll file? what does it do to make it better?

Well have had this rom running on 2 touches since early thurs.. One is just a stock touch flashed with the latest update..Never been unlocked.... I used it over the weekend and all is well... I installed TT ver 6.30 or something like that and google maps and both get locks within 30 seconds sometimes faster and with 7+ sat's.. I didn't use it enough to comment on battery life and i forgot to check the evdo/1x satus... The phone is fast and stable with no aparent issues as of yet .. The second Touch has been flashed since day 1 with custom roms. I flashed the bell rom to get the new radio, and then immediatly flashed back to my "rom of the week" (sorry I can't remember who's it was) and after using the phone from early thurs until today, all i can say is wow!!!! The touch is smooth and fast and GPS locks are excelent.. I used the gps from Toronto to Picton on the weekend with Google maps and TT and never waited more than 30 secons for a lock and sometimes they seemed almost instant.. I also have GPS today on this phone.. The TT would not lock without a prime on this custom rom but did with just the stock bell rom.. Not sure why this is happening .. GPS today and Google both lock fast.. real fast.. and lots of sats 3-5 more than any other radio I have had with GPS.. Battery life is better also than previous updates... The interface is snappy and responsive ... I had a few glithches right after instal but all seems to have settled in nicely since then and have not resest since early fri.. I never thought I would say this but Bell has outdone themselfs this time.. I never dreamed they would turn on the GPS... Kudoo's to them and they don't get or deserve many... This upgrade is the best i have seen yet from any that have p***** though here in the last 6 months for the touch... I do seem to have issues with the data bars popping up with no programes running it seems and it does seem to switch between 1x and evdo alot these days.. I will test my speeds later this week and report back but seat of the pants seems like it is the same.. All and all this thing rocks..

I had been waiting and waiting for Bell to come out with this and finnaly I gave up and unlocked my phone (with the coke unlocker) and flashed a custom ROM. With the various custom ROM’s I tried I only managed to get a GPS lock once. I was reading all kinds of threads on improving the GPS… then Bell finally comes out with this.

Seriously this is ROM is very WOW!! The battery life is fantastic (better then any other ROM, even the previous official Bell ROM) and the GPS locks in seconds. I am very happy with this ROM. Good job Bell!

I also found that TT doesn't lock without using astrolauncher. I thought it would lock without priming since others reported it locking without priming but it is probably because they used the official bell rom. I flashed back to a custom rom I made using the 20270 kitchen. It seems whatever bell did, it was changed when I flashed back to the kitchen rom. I hope there aren't anything else that the official bell rom have that the kitchen doesn't. I had problems with igo with the official bell rom so i flashed back to kitchen rom and didn't really test it out that long so I'm not sure what other goodies Bell put in that I no longer have with the kitchen rom.

I'd like to know that as well. Pitobread, do you use TT, Garmin, or Igo, maybe all? If you do, did you find a difference with that file?

Where'd you find that file, any links?
