Re: Official Bell Mobility GPS/Sat Radio/Rev A. Update!

Anyone else having power issues with this new official ROM? My phone is chewing through power. A charge would last me 4 days standby. Now, with absolutely nothing running, the phone lasts half a day in standby. Something is wrong.

Re: Official Bell Mobility GPS/Sat Radio/Rev A. Update!

Are the people experiencing battery issues also having the problems with 1x connections? I have flashed back to NFSFAN's 1.13 so i have neither problem, however I know that switching between EV and 1X is battery intensive so it may only be one problem really.

Have you tried actually using the connection on EV? NFS reports himself that it shows EV but when he goes to use the data connection, it changes to 1X. He thinks there is an issue with the Bell radio. I tend to agree.

It's possible that my phone is switching between the two while it is in standby. Last night I set the phone to EVDO mode only (from Hybrid) and it got really warm (and drained the battery like mad). When I soft-reset the phone, it switched back to 1X and cooled down but still chewing up the juice.

Re: Official Bell Mobility GPS/Sat Radio/Rev A. Update!

maybe there's some interference between data connection and GPS here, with Bell too, in the same style as in:

New Official rom & live & gps bug.
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=33784&page=4
???

P.S. from that thread:

"Just a update. Apparently disabling everything that makes your vouge have a auto data connection fixes agps. I opened up my explorer to connect to edvo and tried the gps and guess what. Agps works. So manualy connecting to edvo does Not kIll agps."

if you have used spbbackup to restore your system data, the gps will not be able to run... i had the same problem, after i restored a full back up... the solution is to restore eveyrthing but the system data, then resintall googlemaps..

I just tried igo8... it is sleek, but apparently,
less useful that TomTom..

it is slow, freezes the phone often,
and requires much more f..kin around
to make things working for example I was not able to see any POIs so far...

TomTom is better overall...

Are you using igo with the new bell rom? I found that igo for me was slower than the 20270 kitchen rom I had before so I just flashed back to kitchen rom and had better gps signal. Igo also worked. I don't exactly know why igo was slow and freezing for me either. It seems some here have successfully used igo with the new rom. Maybe you may want to give igo a try with a new custom rom rather than the official. You'll still get the benefits of great gps signal since I didn't lose mine and same with others here.
