Do these Roms always hard reset your phone? That is my biggest problem with switching, it takes me hours to get the phone back to the way I like it. Any solution to that?

Yes, you get a "post hard reset" condition after Rom install... Databases are easily restored, but apps need to be reinstalled. That is why people cook their own ROMs.

Sorry, I am new to all of this, can you direct to the best place for instructions on how to do what you are describing?

Thanks

I realized that it would be bad form to do a restore from Sprite Backup when upgrading to the first "official" leaked rom 6 to 6.1.

Does anyone have an opinion on how they think that a restore from Sprite would be handled when upgrading from the original 6.1 rom to this newest version?

I know all you noobs ( no offense ) are scared to do things to your phones... its understandable... all these guys me included got scared doing things to our phones..

just read read and REREAD everything that being said...

I personally find that with these new radio rom updates you should flash your phone twice... by this

1. Flash your phone according to directions.. in this case very easy to follow...
2. let the phone go through all its stages of bootup.
3. after your phone boots up check your voice mail...( make sure your phone survived the process)
4. Reflash your phone... it will take less time the 2nd time..allow it to fully boot up...
5. When your phone is back up after customizations.. and all that crap ... HARD RESET.
6. Once your phone is back up YES AGAIN.....load all your programs back...

This is how i did it.....for both my wife and i.. trust me if her phone didn't work she would kill me...

use the search i know you might have to read alot but nothing comes easy.. knowledge or otherwise

That gets you to the IOTA Start up screen. Just Click Start and wait for it to "enroll you" into sprint data.

BTW, I'm running the .4 Rom too. In case you were wondering...oh, and you didn't have to unlock the phone for this rom either...

Hope this helps
Now I'm scratching my head... My GPS crapped out after less than a day of practically not using it, at all... I installed this latest ROM yesterday, at 2pm, and I couldn't get a lock by 8pm... I had only used it 3 times, to get a lock under google maps. I didn't even use it for navigation.

I couldn't get it to work at all... but I did the IOTA and now it's fixed. Any clue as to why this happens? I sure don't want to have to provision my device every single day...

only negative think i've experienced is in the previous release, is that in the sprint navigation app..the keyboard would show and then dissapear really fast...when entering street addresses or typing in any text fields...i have to use spb full keyboard to enter stuff in to sprint navi. app. other than that the older "new" rom works great! less than 10 sec to connect to gps.

How often do you soft reset? I don't really think you need to run IOTA as I first thought.

What I've noticed is that the Location setting defaults to off after a soft reset. If you go into the phone app, the symbol for location has a line through it. If you go into the settings, it'll say that its on. So instead of running IOTA, I think you just need to go into the phone settings and location and ok out of it, then the location symbol will go back to being enabled.

I've noticed this on other ROMs and the other Sprint OEM leaked ROMs.

I've had good results using SPB Backup 2.x after a ROM upgrade. I started with the leaked Sprint 6.1 ROM with GPS and Rev A working and then upgraded to the first official Sprint ROM (.2). All my programs worked after the restore using "ROM Upgrade" mode in SPB Backup. I also had the latest Sprite Backup which I tried first but was unsuccessful in restoring the Touch to a functional state.

So my recommendation is to make a backup using SPB backup, upgrade your ROM, hard reset and restore using SPB backup in "ROM Upgrade" mode. If it does not work for you, hard reset again and load your programs individually.

I have also noticed that if the location setting is turned to OFF that I have HUGE problems getting locks. Enable that and its a night and day difference.

Good Luck!
