rstoyguy's 19208 Rom & Kitchen Basekit v1.0801 Updated 8/01/08

As you all know by now, I'm not a "Secretive Chef".

I encourage you all to ask questions in this thread on Rom Building!

I created this thread to help teach you how to cook your own rom, not to run it as it comes.

This rom was built to suite me, why not build one that suites Y.O.U.?

*Before Using this Rom or Using the Kitchen....*
You MUST be:
- Unlocked with the 2.31 unlocker,
- Upgraded your RADIO by flashing RUU_PPST_Vogue_SPRINT_WWE_3.03.651.2_Radio_3.42.30 _AM_NV_2.04_Ship.exe

Insert bold red disclaimer here about how it is not my fault if you mess up your phone using this tutorial...
If you mess it up...Always Remember:

Power, Camera, Hole...Flash sprint stock rom. Start Over...

What's in this basekit:
These is my Custom version of the new Sprint ROM released in June of 2008. This rom is NOT based on the PPCkitchen, it was built using DogGuys kitchen. This Rom is not protected and you may customize it if U wish by using the tutorials in my e-Signature at the end of my post. Steps on installing my kitchen are in post #2.

Thanks goes out to Old_man_Jenkins, DogGuy, PPCkitchen.org, PPCGeeks.com & it's users, and the usual folks!

This ROM is based off the above Sprint Vogue FINAL Release Rom 3.03.651.4.2 , or CE OS 5.2.19208.1.0.1

Re: rstoyguy's 19208 Rom & Kitchen Basekit v1.05

I have decided to open up my Kitchen and my Rom that I am currently using to the community! Below you will find instructions on how to install the pieces. This is a test to see if you are ready to work with a kitchen! :)
This Thread is open to questions concerning developing, I will answer any questions I can. Post #1 is the installation tutorial, and Post #2 contains the details about what is in the "Base Kit". Post #3 Reserved....

So lets get started!

*Before Using this Kitchen/Rom....*

Start Over.

Thanks to...
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
DogGuy, PPCKitchen Folks, and all you PPCGeeks out there!

My Tutorials you may want to check out...
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
The following are links to tutorials on Customizing Custom Rom's:

Customizing Rom Sounds - Sound Themes Tutorial
Customize your StartMenu for PPCKitchen.org's - BuildOS - Tutorial
Customizing Your Rom: Adding Personal Files & Other Stuff
How to Customize a Custom Rom: Adding/Removing Programs
Customizing your Rom: Adding your E-Mail Accounts <--Pending Tutorial
Tutorial: Adding Registry Entries to your Rom (RGU Method)
Yes, all these are used to almost their full potential in this rom!

Here are the following files you will need.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
1 - Dogguy's Kitchen for the Vogue. (my Kitchen of choice)
2 - RUU_PPST_Vogue_SPRINT_WWE_3.03.651.2_Radio_3.42.30 _AM_NV_2.04_Ship.exe from this thread.
3 - RSTG_3.03.651.4_v1.0815_OEM to add into the kitchen.

Here are the steps needed to get up and running...
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
1. Download and install my kitchen, well, ok, it's DogGuy's Kitchen!
2. Extract and decompile 2.nbh from RUU_PPST_Vogue_SPRINT_WWE_3.03.651.2_Radio_3.42.30 _AM_NV_2.04_Ship.exe
3. Run Prepit.bat to create kitchen files.
4. Delete the ..\Vogue Kitchen\OEM directory
5. Insert my ..\Vogue Kitchen\OEM directory
6. Perform some optional modifications in the ..\Vogue Kitchen\SYS directory.
7. Start having sleepness nights packed with fun!!!!!

1. Download and install my kitchen, well, ok, it's DogGuy's Kitchen!
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Extract Vogue_Kitchen_Tools.rar to it's own directory. Create a directory, and extract the contents to that directory. It will create the kitchen structure when you extract it. I will refer to this directory as "..\kitchen" throughout this thread.
If you need help...Are you ready for this???

2. Extract and decompile 2.nbh from RUU_PPST_Vogue_SPRINT_WWE_3.03.651.2_Radio_3.42.30 _AM_NV_2.04_Ship.exe
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Download the above file from this link to this thread. Right click on it and open w/WinRar or WinZip. Copy 2.nbh to the directory where you extracted the kitchen to. Now close your archiver... Hmmm...did ya catch which OS Build this Rom is based from? :)

3. Run Prepit.bat to create kitchen files.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Click on PrepIt.bat from file explorer to decompile the Sprint ROM. This will take a couple of minutes, and when it tells you that it is finished, close the window and now you have your base rom. You can start here, but I have made many of the modifications for you already.

4. Delete the ..\Vogue Kitchen\OEM directory
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
That's right. Delete the ..\Kitchen\OEM directory. The one you will insert in Step 5 will have all the components/modifications you will need to get started.

5. Insert my ..\Vogue Kitchen\OEM directory
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Extract my OEM from the link above to your ..\Kitchen directory.

6. Perform some optional modifications in the ..\Vogue Kitchen\SYS directory.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Here is what I did to the ..\Kitchen\SYS directory on my machine.
Delete the following Directories:
..\Kitchen\SYS\WelcomeCenter
..\Kitchen\SYS\WelcomeCenter_Lang_0409
..\Kitchen\SYS\SampleMusic

7. Start having sleepness nights packed with fun!!!!!
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
To start, run ..\Kitchen\BuildOS.exe, and then ..\Kitchen\BuildIt.bat to create your flashable RUU_Signed.nbh in the ..\Kitchen\RUU directory. Now you are ready to flash, check out your new base rom to see the modifications you would like to make!

My Notes on my OEM Package....
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
With this rom I have basically used it to further my knowledge of my tutorials.

--- The StartMenu is highly modified. The files I have edited to accomplish this are: Each individual OEM, the ..\Vogue Kitchen\OEM\OEM_Lang_0409\initflashfiles.dat file. All these are now in ..\Kitchen\OEM\zzz_StartMenu_OEM\initflashfiles.tx t

--- The Rom sounds are modifed to suite me. The files are in ..\Kitchen\OEM\zzz_My_Sounds_OEM. Check out the initflashfiles.txt to see how I move them, and the RGU file to see the registry settings.

--- My regedits and misc files that I add are in ..\Kitchen\OEM\zzz_My_Files_OEM. The regedits are in the RGU file, and again check the initflashfiles.txt to see file placement. The font files are just there in case I need to use them in Microsoft Office.

--- I prepare the device's Today Screen in ..\Kitchen\OEM\zzz_My_TodayScreen_OEM. Check out the RGU for the regedits to clear all that sprint stuff off the Today Screen! There was also an edit done to ..\Kitchen\OEMOperators\mxipupdate_oemoperators_10 2.provxml to kill the Voicemail Plugin.

My Thoughts on this...

Why thanks! I figure if you can put the kitchen together, then you can make a rom... My hopes are that users here will learn from the kitchen and maybee a few more options for Bell, Alltel, and Verizon.

Would it be possible to use this basekit with the PPCKitchen? If so, how would I go about it?

Thanks!!

I don't beleive so without some major ppckitchen-fying the rom. It would be nice to have this Sprint 19208 base in the kitchen though...

My tutorials on Rom Sound Themes, Custom Start Menus, and Adding Personal files & Other Stuff OEM's work with the ppckitchen just fine. And were written to allow users to further customize their ppckitchen roms. This is more of a "Demo" of what I don't see and what is possible in most roms out today. Not many custom roms, if any, include custom sounds, custom menus, and adding files for personal or business use anyways...

I personally don't use the ppckitchen except when someone has a question. This method works just fine as well. :)

Thanks for the Kitchen, trying it out now.

On my first install with AEBplus, Inbox Extentsions, and SMMS removed, I can not get virtual earth mobile to work. It is giving me an unexpected error.

After I click details, I get a nullReferenceException.

Any ideas?

Here is the fix for Virtual Earth Mobile until I can upload the new oem pack:

Goto my OEM Request thread, download the GPS Megapack from post #2, and replace the version 1.1 with the newer v1.2 OEM directory. I fixed some registry edits in the RGU for that program. Seems a cab install does the regedits a little different...

Then just delete the OEM out of ..\kitchen\OEM\s3 Cube if your using my kitchen. If not, delete the files out of your ..\OEM\OEMAPPS folder which have the same names in the s3Cube folder. I don't have my laptop, but mediaos sounds familiar...I can answer that when I get home.

That would do it. You may want to inquire with ?smmsguy? in his thread about that. I usually don't mess with swapping out netcf myself...

I have already deleted HTC Home, OperatorLaunchPlugin in the 1.0729 release. To delete the cube, delete the S3 Cube OEM from the ..\OEM directory.

Try deleting the Keys at your own risk!:
Letter recognizer:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{42429690-ae04-11d0-a4f8-00aa00a749b9}

Block recognizer:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{42429691-ae04-11d0-a4f8-00aa00a749b9}

Touch Keyboard:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{62B00599-25D2-4e09-8C48-03BF26DB8517}

Transcriber:
Delete ..\SYS files &
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{F0034DD0-2AD4-11d1-9CB0-E84BE8000000}

The rest you can find in the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\ area....

thanks ill try your new version when i get home. love your ROm, battery life is great!
i did the s3cube delete stuff last night on the old version, it was still there so what i did was deleted, aplauncher, custaplauncher, mediaminihub, and a bunch or brn&png files that went along with them that were part of the cube. but kept thebiotouch in there, then in the registry edits, enable cube to 0 and its gone. But if i go into Windows on the phone, all the files i deleted in the kitchen OEM are still there.....?? are all these files system files as well? do i have to search for them?
thanks for all the help!

Contrary to what others are saying, I love this rom. Will probably keep it for a while. I especially love the Diamond startup screen. The only issues I have with it is that SprintTv is missing. I used it alot. Is there any way I can reinstall it? I am a big fan of the vista dialer look. Is there a way to install it over the Diamond dialer installed on the rom? And how do I get the VituralEarth to work? Otherwise, love the rom...

Why thanks! You can install sprintTV, it is located in \windows\SprintTV_PPC_15x_01024_signed.cab... And if you have a "fixed" version of the Vista dialer you can install it. Virtual Earth works for me. I'll retest it in a bit, but make sure you have the latest rom I just uploaded this morning...RSTG_3.03.651.4_v1.0729_NBH

You can download it directly from this ftp directory:

ftp://ppcgeeks.com/Vogue/Users/rstoyguy/roms/

File ending in NBH is the flashable rom, ending in OEM is for use in my kitchen.

Yes, that is correct. No ppst in windows. I have never had to do all that hogwash.

1. Unlock
2. Flash the original rom, let customizations run. Give it until you see that IOTA in your top menu bar is done. This can be done quicker by running PIE, sorta kick starts the internet connection needed by IOTA...
3. Flash MINE!
4. Try theirs.
5. Re-Flash mine again! :)

Once you do step 2, you should never have to do it again. I have just to get the stock screens back. I find all these other steps are not necessary. The IOTA here updates a part of rom that is not overwritten by flashing a rom.
