You need to make sure that your GPS is set to use COM4 @ 4800baud:

Settings -> System -> External GPS -> Programs -> Program Port: COM4
Settings -> System -> External GPS -> Hardware -> GPS hardware port: (None)
Settings -> System -> External GPS -> Hardware -> Baud rate: 4800
Settings -> System -> External GPS -> Access -> (Checked) Manage GPS automatically

If these settings don't get you a position fix with your GPS (in an unobstructed sky view with proper time to lock on) the GPS speed hack won't do you any good (and will just give you an opportunity to possibly brick your phone).

An initial fix might take a while to get (15min is not unheard of), I suggest going to an open field with a full battery and trying to get a fix with Google Maps -- each time after that initial fix should be significantly faster.

(If you continue to have problems, please post the specific program you are using, any error messages it may give, and how long you've given it to work -- that would help a lot!)

Thanks, I didn't have the Location turned on. The rest was already set from the OMJ ROM. I'm using Google Maps and "Seeking GPS satellites" now. It still shows 0 satellites. I'll wait and try it in an open area.

Thanks for a great Manilla 2D implementation for Verizon. I think HTC got it right with the Dimond UI and it works great on my Vogue.

hey, i just had a couple questions...... one, can someone get me the alltel navigation cab file or tell me where to get it and 2, i just installed the latest omj manila rom, its the one in the ftp folder thats dated the latest, i think it was v3 ..... my comm manager isn't right, it doesnt have internet sharing in it to turn on and off, and it gives me wifi on/off settings now, i have the alltel htc touch, so i dont have wifi, how can i return this back to normal?

Have tried every rom and it ether just stays at eh HTC load screen on says no radio the ones that you are supposed to do before the radio will not load all the way the stop at 29 or 32% and say 262 error but it will not load HELP!!1

1)well we'd just have to see how the VZW rom performs, it may or may not be any better....but it will definitely benefit the VZW users...you'll be able to flash to upgrade your radio, PRL, PRI....etc.

2)manilla roms have the TouchFLO 2D installed, it was ripped from another HTC phone....HTC created it as lower verson of 3D for QVGA phones....it's very nice, and yes, anyone can flash it.

I'm not sure, but I thought VZW was going to open their network to any CDMA phones.

In the meantime, flash a M2D rom on your touch....it's as close as you'll get to a diamond for now.

I was waiting to see how long it would take for someone to mention the wifi....lol...this comm mgr matched alot better & I didn't realise the wifi / ICS change till it was posted.

ICS is still there, I made a shortcut to it on the programs launcher....just ignore the wifi.

-did you unlock?
-did you flash an official rom to upgrade radio?

Yes to both I unlocked it then attempted to flash to upgrade radio but i may have done the wrong one

After flashing OMJ's Manilla custom ROM on my Verizon xv6900, everything seems to work except my data connection. I just get a message stating "could not connect for an unknown reason" or "username or password is wrong".

Steps taken initially:

1. Ran CoKeman's unlocker
2. Flashed stock Alltel ROM for radio upgrade
3. Flashed OMJ's rom.

I've re-tried with the bell rom as the second step, but this didn't help. I've also called verizon about an a-key renewal, but that didn't work. They also gave me a username and password, which also didn't help.



Anyone with verizon who has got this working: Please help.

I'm Sprint HTC Touch 6900 device user, and my currently provider is Fren Mobile8, Indonesia. How to make my GPS works? caused I already tried several Customs ROMs (maybe 4-5 Roms) but it still not finding GPS sattelites on Google Maps.

My current ROM is OMJ.3.03.04.Generic.Custom, it also did not gave me GPS works. But once when I used custom rom by ghettofreeryder, my touch was succeed get 5 GPS satellites lock after waiting 45 minutes otherwise it did not lock again on Google Maps second attempt.

I already doing all fix, eg. registry hacks, PPST.exe stuff, editing GPSone on QPST but it still not make my touch GPS works.

I'm very appreciate of your help

We will need more information, like the current state of the phone, and so on, because I really can't tell from the information you've provided which step is generating the problem. If it was during the unlocking process, ImCoKeMaN is the guy who wrote the unlocker, in that case you should either PM him, or post in his unlocker thread...

I've heard that after installing custom ROMs some VZW customers had to update their phone... I'm not precisely sure of the code for VZW, but for Alltel it would be *228 option 3. You might try that. It certainly won't do any harm. The other alternative is to update your PRL (which might be *228 option 2). -- though this might be essentially the A-Key renewal thing you did... Other thing to check is that you are infact on a VZW tower... EDIT: *228 may actually help.

Good ammount of information there... check your settings again, it's been the cause of not getting GPS reception for many people... If you need to verify your settings see my post: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...&postcount=240

Another thing to include is what Google Maps says while you try & use the GPS, some have reported troubleshooting help with Google Maps' output.

PS: Something worthy of note to (newer) readers, don't go so far as to do the fast lock on hack if your GPS simply isn't working, it's complex, and can mess your phone up, once you have GPS working reliably then you can go ahead and do it, but if you can't get your GPS working to begin with, there's no sense in adding a complex & potentially harmful step.
