i think this may work, but if it does I'm almost sure it would have to be a "shipped/official" rom.

I'll see what I can dig up.....it definitely wont be a verizon rom.

*EDIT* here ya go, Official Sprint 6.0, found it on the FTP in ImCokeMans folder.....just a reminder, Dont let the post flash customization run, SOFT RESET!!!

No dice... same as the other ROMs, Error [294] Invalid Vendor ID.... Thanks for the try though. ](*,) Looks like it needs to be a Verizon rom only because the unlocker is not loaded.

Hello,
Pretty new to the PPC thing here recently got an Alltel touch, and the 3.09.01 custom version is the second custom rom I am now trying. This is definitely the deepest I've been in so far but it's tons of fun. I have received lots of good information from you guys already, thanks! I do not have any MMS options now, can I get my Alltel MMS account loaded with this rom? Any help is appreciated....thanks again

in case anyone is interested.... i emailed UTStar support about a Verizon 6.1 update and received the following email:

There going to be a update for the XV6900 late October or early November Unfortunately, we don't have a projected release day as of yet. Sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause you.

damn

just to be clear....you ran the unlocker (not successful) then flashed which ROM? Must be a Bell based as your rom is v3.09.

not sure how you flashed any rom if you were not unlocked.

did u PM ImCoKeMaN? if anyone can help ya, he's the one.

yes, if you search for arcsoft MMS you can install via cab, also search for the Alltel server settings.

I had 2 quick questions. First off though, OMJ, you are a great asset to the forum! I love your ROM's!
1) When the VZW ROM comes out, does anyone expect it to have anything worth going to vs using an OMJ Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM?
2) What is the difference between the Manilla ROMs and the Non-Manilla? I have the XV6900, will it work, and is Manilla just the latest ROM that OMJ is making?

Thanks guys.

I really like Manilla2D, instead of the 'cube'(although u still have access to it which i could do without, anyway to get rid of it?). Its an easy way to get to your favorate people, apps, mail, texts, weather, googlemaps, etc. It feels like HTC Home, but much more usable. I like sliding my finger ... bam! to the left and bam! to the right. hehe. instead of up, left left, down to navigate the cube thing. I would highly recommend it. I dont use QuickMenu anymore cause of it, as all my favorates and other things are more easily accessible. and memory footprint seems to be small.

ps i have vx6900 and running clean manilla2d. plus the GPS fix. ... when the vz official rom from vz comes out, or when vz omj rom comes out, i wasnt sure what you asking? either way, the roms are fine without it. an official vz rom maybe have vznavigator on it, but who cares if have gps working already. and if waiting for omj vz rom, dont worry just run the clean one and add dcd's vz cab which brings over some vz customization settings i think.

1. No, omj's roms are still the most solid. Right now I'm running his manila2d v3 and his previous rom thanks to secondtoday. :)
2. Manila is a user interface that's a little different than what most folks are used too. I think it hails from the diamond, and I think that's the latest he's working on.

I can't get the GPS working on my Verizon vx6900. I have the OMJ latest custom rom. Can you tell me what and were the fix is you used for GPS? I would love to have this enabled. Thanks.

The GPS fix he mentioned is likely the one that speeds up getting a GPS fix (lock) via PDE servers... Don't worry about this fix, it won't do anything for you if you can't already get a normal (slow) fix (lock).

You need to make sure that your GPS is set to use COM4 @ 4800baud:
Settings -> Personal -> Phone -> Services -> Location Settings -> ON
Settings -> System -> External GPS -> Programs -> Program Port: COM4
Settings -> System -> External GPS -> Hardware -> GPS hardware port: (None)
Settings -> System -> External GPS -> Hardware -> Baud rate: 4800
Settings -> System -> External GPS -> Access -> (Checked) Manage GPS automatically

If these settings don't get you a position fix with your GPS (in an unobstructed sky view with proper time to lock on) the GPS speed hack won't do you any good (and will just give you an opportunity to possibly brick your phone).

An initial fix might take a while to get (15min is not unheard of), I suggest going to an open field with a full battery and trying to get a fix with Google Maps -- each time after that initial fix should be significantly faster.

(If you continue to have problems, please post the specific program you are using, any error messages it may give, and how long you've given it to work -- that would help a lot!)
