Yep, the update returns it to "out of the box" condition

I mean I could be wrong.. but I doubt it cause I've never "backed up" my contacts as they are stored on the computer if you've synced before with active sync. Once you sync up again after a flash or hard reset, its all back. You do lose SMS and call history, programs, and some other stuff. Sometimes for me pictures are saved but you might as well err on the side of caution and transfer them over manually.

You shouldn't need to backup contacts though, I never have for flashing to different custom ROMs or hard resetting. The contacts manager on my pc keeps all the contacts. Flash, hard reset, sync up and it syncs all my old contacts. If you want to prove this to yourself, have the phone disconnected and go into contacts on outlook. If you don't have outlook it should show up in start menu -> accessories -> address book, I believe.

If you are concerned however you can backup using SPB or one of the other many backup programs just to be sure... especially if you want stuff other than just contacts backed up. The biggest pain is reinstalling programs I think.

Here is a program that will backup all contacts, texts, and call history. Hope this works out for you! I attached the file, just unzip and place in your Touch and run it. Good luck!

I'm waiting as well.

All i have to say is... Damn this thread is getting long. I went to work for five or six hours. When i came home there was 8 new pages to read!
So has anyone checked their www.sprint.com to see if there are any kind of extra charges, especially of the data kind?

I have nowhere near that many, but I did successfully restore ~700 text messages. The first time I reloaded them using PimBackup, the messages were out of order in the threads. Then I ran the restore again opting to only add new messages.... and the threads were correctly displayed.

700 seemed to be pushing the limits of the Touch when I opened my first threaded message, so I have some doubt that 9000 will go smoothly.

I have touchpal 3.0 working correctly with the new ROM.
Make sure you download the WM6.1 variety off their site. I installed WM6 the first time and I received the same errors as above.

Our touch's don't automatically have the "location" enabled even though in the settings it is clearly marked "on". I have to turn it off and then close everything then open the settings back on and turn it on then it will show the icon while in dialer mode that it is on.

Anyone else having this problem? I have done a hard reset and yes other things were fixed but this is the ONLY problem I am having since the new install.

Please help....

THANKS

I am having the same problem... how do you keep the location enabled on after a reboot? In dialer, the gps symbol shows disabled unless I go to settings and switch location off, location on...

Doesn't seem to be keeping that setting or else the dialer is lying?

its probably just the icon. If location was truely off you wouldnt have gps working. Prob just a faulty icon, i wouldnt worry about it much
