my thoughts on the new rom

NEW official Sprint ROM posted on XDA-dev by DCD --- posted by canospam

I installed this new rom last night. it was my first rom i have installed on my touch. very simple to do. process took about twenty to thirty minutes to complete.

Pros:
*Love the WinMo 6.1 and the threaded text messages and the new office "onenote"
*Rev-A is great, seems to work much faster than EVDO in my area
*GPS seems to lock in on my device within seconds. i used it this morning en route to the office and it tracked me flawlessly

Cons:
***TCPMP does not work (the original version), you must find the one that is compatible with 6.1 (you can find it here) http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=30178

***hhc customizer does not allow for the fifth tab (which i normally use for the audio manager) so i lose the ability to play my music from my home screen.

These are the minor issues that i am aware of, and have actually ran into.

Here are questions that i do have for any of you that may be able to answer:

***How much is being charged if any to use gps (with live search, or google maps)?
***I have the $15.00/month unlimited vision plan
***Can we still tether without the extra charges?

so all in all i think that the upgrade is definately worth it. hope this helps some, and hope some can fill me in with my questions. Thanks for all the great work guys

no charge for gps.
I'm not sure if regedits are needed or not, but tethering should be casual.
ppl that tether for their home ISP are ruining it for the rest of us.

I find OneNote to be buggy and un-intuitive.
- Can't hold-click to delete them, have to use menu.
- Deleting a note doesn't appear to do anything.. the note is still there until you minimize or close it and reopen it.
- Plus it doesn't even let you use handwriting for notes. the built in NOTE is much more useful IMO.

Its just another application that Microsoft thought they could do better than the competition, but failed... just like with Windows Mobile to start with.

Rev-A is still EVDO... its just a new Revision of EVDO from 0 to A

$0 for Live and Google
No, you can't officially/legally tether with that plan

Yes, you can "still" tether like you used to with just your vision plan as long as you do the reg edit posted earlier.

Here is the link to the reg edit needed to tether with this new ROM:

What version of HHC are you using? I tried installing it and it freezes up the phone and forces me to hard reset to fix. At first HTC home 2.1 I thought was the problem but I installed Xplode's version posted on this site and it started working. But when I tried puttin on Hermes HHC it froze everything. Anybody else having this issue?

I got the HHC 1.0 final from pocketemu.com. I have not had any luck loading HTC Home 2.1 on it though every version I have tried has made the phone freeze after the reboot. If any one knows which one to use please point it out. This fixes the weather problem doesn't it?

If you look back in the thread, I posted a cab of a version of HTC home that works with this rom.
