dont use a backup on a new ROM, it will overwrite registry entries and system files with the old

Re: NEW official Sprint ROM posted on XDA-dev by DCD
I'm also having trouble with google maps. After installing this rom, is it normal for google maps to show a notification which read - It seems that your handset isnt compatible with My Location (beta) feature?
I check my location setting and it is ON. I was able to lock onto satellites once, but never again. Also, when I go into EPST and check REV A, the value it has is Enable. Does this mean that REV A isnt turned on by default? |
Re: NEW official Sprint ROM posted on XDA-dev by DCD
I tried out Sprite 6.2.2 using the "Personal Data only" option with "restore Databases" checked. It didn't screw up my system, and I got my text messages and "My Documents" back. The only thing is, I think it changed up the keyboard options and gave me the keyboards from the 6.0 ROM...
Is there a way to get the CAB for the new keyboards? I liked the 6.1 version of the small keyboard... |

So should we be OK if we flash back to a cooked ROM? Or just wait a few days for the kitchen?

I think the above quote is generally good advice but just to experiment a bit, after upgrading from the leaked Sprint test ROM to the official Sprint ROM, I tried restoring using the "ROM upgrade" mode of SPB Backup 2.0 with great results. All my installed programs, tweaks, etc. restored fine. I may find some items which may need reinstalling but I'm very pleased with the result. After the ROM upgrade, I reinstalled SPB Backup to my microSD card and used the backup that was on it. Regarding overwriting registry settings, one registry setting,"HKLM/Comm/InternetSharing/Settings/ForceCellConnection/Phone as Modem" was untouched after the restore and I had to manually change it to "Sprint PCS" as recommended. In light of this, my recommendation would be to try a restore if there is a "ROM Upgrade" feature to your favorite backup program and if it doesn't work out, you can always hard reset and install and tweak manually. So far it has saved me days/weeks of installing and tweaking my Touch. |

Edit: After playing with the new ROM for a few hours. I realize that Google Maps and Live Search work without Priming first, but TomTom 6 still requires priming before it will find any satellites...and Ive also noticed that MobiTV(3 day Trial) works perfectly with this ROM, and it didnt work with the leaked 3.02 ROM. |
