Re: NEW official Sprint ROM posted on XDA-dev by DCD

Has anybody uploaded the new stock rom and tried to go back to a kitchen rom and get an error stating "rom is corrupted" it goes up to 100% then gives me that error and puts me back to the 2.31 tricolor mode... I am stuck with the new ROM. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply... Were you using the Build OS?

I've used the PPCKitchen BuildOS plus a couple of other custom ROMS (vevito's, NFSFAN's).

This was not my default. I actually had the reverse. It showed the battery but not the clock, and I wanted the clock, not the battery

Had to use a regedit like boggsie said, but I used:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell]
"ShowTitleBarClock"=dword:1
"ShowTitleBarBattery"=dword:0

actually had to create the ShowTitleBarBattery one as that didn't exist yet. So try that full word method, but reverse the values from what I used.

Or use Advanced Config tool to set those values for you.

For whoever was looking for the built-in Opera cab, it is in the windows directory. You have to have your name field in your file manager set really wide to tell what it is though. Look for WM6_PPC_HTCNaxos-2_Opera865_3071.cab.

Has anyone else had a problem with installing HTC Home 2.1? It freezes up and completely locks the phone down. Soft reset does nothing. I've had to hard reset my phone to get it working again. 4 tabbed buttons isn't cutting it.

Has anyone tried restoring a bunch of text messages to see if it threads them all? I have like 9000 text messages (ever since I've had the phone).

Sorry ... was looking for this in my archives ...

I know you need a cab, because an OEM folder requires a new rom, which will hard-reset your device ...

I have NO personal experience with this program.

HTC Data Backup 3.x

I guess it can't hurt to try cause that PIM Backup is not what I was looking for....

I did notice a sharp drop after I installed SPB Mobile shell - on both roms. So I uninstalled and am testing to see if that makes a diff. If so - back to UL for me i guess...

spb mobile shell 2.x has known battery issues with shell32.exe (i'm not sure if i'm quoting the right process and i'm too lazy to look it up right now). uninstalling it as well may tend to not take care of it in some situations... :-s

I don't know about Spb Backup v2.0, but it's older versions sucked beyond reasoning. It would literally takes 20-30 minutes just to backup and sometimes over an hour to fully restore. I demanded a refund since then and have used Sprite backup without problems. It backups and restores in just a few minutes to my memory card directly (Spb would take several times longer to backup to the card)!

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but I can vouch that this rom will allow the phone to change timezones AUTOMATICALLY again. Just like your older phones. With previouw roms this was not possible. I'm a pilot and have tested it since yesterday passing several timezones.

This is a HUGE deal for me and other travelers!

- Your welcome :-)

I've only used SPB Backup 2.0 and Sprite backup. I recently had problems with failed backups with the latest Sprite so I installed SPB Backup 2.0. SPB Backup backs up my Vogue just as fast if not faster than the latest Sprite. I had problems with earlier versions of SPB Backup not working on the Vogue but version 2.0 seems to have fixed those issues.

No. This is the official update from Sprint. You do not need to unlock your phone. Just make sure your phone is connected to your pc, and run the .exe.

Does anyone know what this file is?

- hmarkinst.cab

I found it under "My Device" it seems it was added in this new rom, but I have no idea what it is and I don't want to run it unless I know what it does.

I answered my own question.

Start running the .exe from my PC before attaching the USB cable - wait until instructed to do so.

So far so good....still setting up after reprogramming...hopefully everything works great !
