Re: Almost OEM 6.1 Sprint ROM **V.3.0** (6/10/08) GPS/Rev A. Enabled - NOW 2 VERSIONS

Damg, nevermind. I flashed it and got the same issue as jupi1972. Please help! I would really appreciate it. Is there any way I can restore back to stock firmware?

To fix any apps not launching from the Sprint Home plug in you need to edit the following files in the Widnows directory:

But How can I edit those files when they are wriiten on what seems to be a web page type file.

Re: Almost OEM 6.1 Sprint ROM **V.3.0** (6/10/08) GPS/Rev A. Enabled - NOW 2 VERSIONS

I used Resco Explorer 2007 to overwrite the iLock2.exe 1.01 (S2U2) under \windows (overwriting the ROM) with 1.04. I can see that the file size changed. I reset the device, and the change remained (newer version showing in the \windows directory.

However, when S2U2 loads (with the shortcut/link pointing to the correct location and file), it still shows 1.01.

1) Does WM somehow default to/favor the ROM version vs. the overwritten version of the file?

If so,

2) Would any upgrade/update of the ROM-included files/apps require one to install them to a different directory and invoke those new versions from a different directory?

I can anticipate wanting to update versions of Opera Mini and others as they become available.

Thanks again for this ROM.

All that means is that the shortcut had the version info written as part of its title. Just make a new shortcut or edit that shortcut.

Its no different than WinXP. If you install Opera beta.. the shortcut tooltip shows Opera Beta, then if you go final and don't replace the shortcut, it will still say Opera Beta.

But How would can I create a shortcut when it doesn't give me that option?

I'm not talking about the shortcut title. S2U2, when it loads, shows the version of the application on the bottom of the screen. It is the application itself that is reporting the version, and it is reporting that the older version is running.

I also observed that, when I remove the newer version under \windows, the version that was overwritten (in ROM), reverts right back.

Are we still talking about fixing the live search buttons on the main screen or something else entirerly?

Read post #63. I'm trying to update S2U2.

Here's what has worked for me **FOR SPRINT ONLY** as far as I know:

Download and install the attached ppst.cab.zip (rename to ppst.cab), and the viser.gps (second post in this thread)to the \windows directory
soft reset your phone
run the ppst.exe with totalcommander or resco explorer
run epst from the phone codes directory select edit - you will need your msl (Unlock code)to get into this
Let the screen populate and then click OK
this will soft reset your phone

You should now be able to use the TELENAV program with ease... GPS Locks for me in less than a second!
Attached Files
File Type: zip PPST.CAB.zip (420.8 KB, 24 views) Click for barcode!
