One question: I'd like to update S2U2 from 1.01 (included in the build) to a newer version 1.03 or 4. I found the iLock2.exe file in the /windows directory, but couldn't overwrite it nor rename it. I presume it is because it is part of the ROM and flagged as read only?

Are there any file manager applications that will allow me to edit the property of the files and update them? I potentially see other apps that I would like to be able to update as new versions are released.

You might wanna try Resco Explorer. That file explorer has the ability to overwrite files in ROM and is pretty useful for other things too. I use it religiously.

you need to stop the process in task manager as it is running in the background

He probably needs to use resco, if it's built into the ROM.

Otherwise, the new S2U2 version would automatically uninstall the old, and kill the process...

Thanks for the responses. I will dig up my old license to Resco. I did stop the process but no joy, since it is packaged w/ the ROM.

I remember using a freeware File Manager (on other PPCs) that was pretty good, but just can't remember the name.

Hi dharvey I've followed your instructions exactly from the consolidated tutorial but now, on flashing your rom after the update, its stuck on the htc boot screen. I'm afraid to do anything else and risk bricking the phone. What should I do?

Hey guys, I keep getting an error after starting update right at 0% any suggestions?

I was able to reload the sprint test rom from the bootloader screen. I'll try to download again and reload.
