i was able to get mine to work by simply installing the cab then taking the quickgps.exe and copying into my /windows folder.. it will ask to overwrite the old one.. jus say yes.. then it was able to complete downloads and lock within minutes

I should have done just that when I tried the patched version...I also applied the included .reg file using Resco Regedit. I probably should not have done that!

I fully Agree with Shadomite xtra.bin is never accessed

I was researching a Fujitsu Device which uses QuickGPS uses a Proxy Com Port 8 (Software Port) and put Hardware Port to Com4 with 57000 as Baud rate, now when GPS Software access Com8 which uses xtra.bin type file and fine tune the GPS Signals which it gets from Com4, means there is some Proxy Software (Proxy Gate) which Encapsulate Com4 Singal and Fine Tune it using Ephemeris Data it gets from QuickGPS,

I never got that Kinda Settings in our Touch or Mogul

Attached is the Provxml file from Fujitsu Zool Device which Definately Sets proxy Software to fine tune GPS Signals with Help of Ephemeris Data, Here We should note Thats

SULP has nothing to do with QuickGPS Sprint Relies on SULP and uses Server Based Assistance and not this Kinda Assistance
Attached Files
File Type: txt Fujitsu_zool_GPS.ProvXml.txt (17.6 KB, 40 views) Click for barcode!

Install & Run HTC QuickGPS - Click the Download button.

That persistently annoying failed to connect alert will appear after the download has completed.

Navigate to the Temp directory on your device. You will find a file called xtra.bin located there.

Copy xtra.bin to the root directory of the Windows folder on your device.

After re-running HTC QuickGPS it will now show that the data has been updated.

After doing this it appears that I am consistently getting GPS locks in under a minute.

My question is: how can we make it so our devices allow QuickGPS to copy the xtra.bin on its own! Or is there an easier fix that I have overlooked in my research?

Please feel free to share!
I have an OEM for this that does all of what you speak of. If anyone wants it please send me a PM. Works flawlessly and always downloads the latest info.

+1 for BAF Gps Toggle. Speeds up locks and allows me to turn off GPS for battery life.

Re: HTC QuickGPS - Locks in under a minute EVERYTIME...After LOTS of reading...

I have an HTC Touch Pro and downloaded your cab file and installed QuickGPS but it won't load - I get an error message saying that one of its components can't be found. I looked for the xtra.bin file as you suggested but it's not in the temp directory. Any further thoughts?
