I'm staying far away from this as I need my phone as a phone and for data heh and I am on bell, but my GPS works if I "prime" it first with gpsviewer.

I'm on Bell too and GPS viewer locks within 30-180 seconds for me also.
I guess we should just forget about this and be happy that it even works for us. I just want faster/instant locks, haha.

Re: Sprint still having GPS problems? Try this!

PPST_Altell.zip contains PPST_080401_7500_Alltel_2.01.sa.CAB which, when run, will install PPST.exe for Altell subscribers.

file pulled from: RUU_Vogue_4350_ALLTEL_WWE_3.04.671.2_Radio_4350H_3 .37.10_Alltel_NV2.00_PRL30008_0331_Ship_withSpecia lNBH.exe

PPST_Sprint.zip contains PPST_080407_7500_SPCS_2.03.sa.CAB which, when run, will install PPST.exe for Sprint subscribers.

file pulled from: RUU_Vogue_4350_PPST_SpeciallNBH_SPRINT_WWE_3.02.65 1.2_Radio_435011_3.37.15_AM_NV_SPCS_1.33_0823_Test .exe

Presumably, if you aren't with either Altell or Sprint, there isn't a PPST.exe that will help you out.

... in that the cab will install a file that can be used to update the radio, I would presume that they (PPCKitchen authors) would tend to shy away from including it as a selectable item among the other OEMs.

However, if installation of the cab could be tied to the selection of a specific carrier, it might happen. Thus, by selecting a supported carrier from the drop-down-list, the PPCKitchen would silently install the appropriate PPST.exe. Obviously, at the moment, cabs are only available for Sprint or Altell.

A great thought, hetaldp.

Re: Sprint still having GPS problems? Try this!

for those of you who are getting constant locks within 20 seconds or so, please clarify if you are getting the locks directly from google maps, gps viewer, or another app. thanks, as the answer makes all the difference for me before reflashing.

Any app... to get Tom Tom going or Yahoo maps going, I have to open another app working app (ie Googlemaps) to get those going...

here is the response that i received in the kitchen thread to the same question when asked a day or so ago:

1) is there a way to implement the ppst.exe and its components from the leaked rom? after allowing all the customizations to run using the leaked rom, then running ppst.exe the gps quality and speed improvement is INCREDIBLE - better than lots of bt receivers im sure you've read. and ive also heard signal is boosted though i didnt really get much of a chance to test that.

2) i think the problem to the internet always being active is that it thinks it needs to use microsoft direct push regardless of whether you have it set to that or not. because every time i disabled the data connection (to save on my battery) after it had started it up, it said something like are you sure you want to stop it, this will disable microsoft direct push...soo...anything there?

3) in my first rom i cooked from here the "menu sounds" (the pop's and clicks from wm5 when you tapped menu's or other items) worked great. now i have that oem still selected, and nothing. so i made my own and selected both (with a few conflicts). still nothing. then i installed over as a cab afterward and still nothing. anyone have any guess as to why that might be?

thanks a lot for all your work!!!!!!!!

As it stands the kitchen only updates the OS portion of the phone, so even if you forget or make a mistake on selecting the right carrier, you only have to rerun the kitchen choosing the right carrier to fix it.

If you made a mistake with the radio, well the kitchen can't easily fix that, you'd end up having to search the forums for a official rom for your carrier to revert the changes made to your radio/phone portion..

Get my drift?

so until all carriers can enable that, it probably wont be happening but o well not a big pain, just select it in user customization, run the exe, and youre still good to go

It is safe for Telus users to use the Sprint PPST.
