so we can basically accept it as fact that with any rom created by the official ppckitchen.org kitchen gps will not really work near as well because it will screw up the things that ppst.exe fixed/set...correct? anyone?

Re: Sprint still having GPS problems? Try this!

Has anybody tried this using the old gpstest rom and recieved good results? Or will this work only for the leaked rom?

Re: Sprint still having GPS problems? Try this!

Me and a friend both have Verizon, we took exactly the sames steps, flashed the leaked sprint radio and JD's lite rom..mine works perfectly with agps and all..his doesn't do a thing.

I was hoping this could be his fix but this is only for sprint correct?

-Thanks
When the customizations run when hard resetting or flashing the phone beeps and a little window pops up for a split second asking if you want to update the radio. It then disappears into the background with no way to bring that window back up to select yes. This is why most people don't get their radios updated when flashing the leaked ROM. Even when you know the window is popping up it disppears to quickly. This is also why the customizations hang for so long at PPST, waiting for your input...

Hopefully there is now a way to get this going for non-Sprint folks...

Re: Sprint still having GPS problems? Try this!

Well I can report now that my GPS is working and working well. I flashed the Sprint Leaked ROM followed by the unlocker followed byOMJ's Custom Sprint ROM followed by a hard reset. Thats it. Nothing else.

I'm running Garmin-XT with GPS Intermediate Drivers (instead of COM 4 - com 4 WON'T WORK with Garmin for some reason. It does work with Google and GPS VIewer).

I'm getting at least 10 Sats now and it locks on in less than 10 secs. I will of course update you if it stops.

The only thing that I did differently was that I did all of the flashing at one time. Before yesterday, I would try the leaked rom. Then try something else .......eventually working my way through various ROMS.

Re: Sprint still having GPS problems? Try this!

I tried it this morning after my phone was in standby for 8+ hours and it worked great. I was in my house (a few feet from a window) and Garmin got a lock in under a minute (with 3-5 bars in the Garmin display). Before I would rarely get a lock in my house, much less after 8+ hours of standby.

Now it seems to be working just as good as my BT GPS puck

What version on Garmin are you using? And, are you using GPS Intermediate drivers or COM4?

If I open GPS Viewer and then open Garmin and select COM4, Garmin works great and finds the hardware. If I only open Garmin and try to select COM4, it can't find the hardware then switches to GPS Int. drivers. I never had a problem with not using COM4 in the past. I recently updated Garmin to the most recent version so that could have made a difference. -I don't care whether I use COM4 or GPS Int. drivers, it is working. Even after being off all night long. (Now the question is "For how long...?")

I'm using 4.20.50wp. It is set to GPS Int Driver...and that way I don't have to use GPS Viewer or any other program first, just fire up Garmin and it works.

If it can't find a lock, the only bug is that it changes your date/time until it gets a lock (or until you go into phone settings, time sync options and sync it with the cell towers).
