This script turns off the battery and ac timeout in the registry. It will prevent standby as long as gpstest is running

On another note, the new dlls really work well. Now the only issue for me is the long cold start.
Google maps keeps my phone from going to standby as well. Don't know about Track Me. I don't like mucking in registry for "routine" tasks. Bad Idea IMHO. Your phone hangs you reboot and forget it was left in that state and later you find a dead phone. I suppose bootup script could reset it to normal.

I agree so far dlls seem good.

Sometimes there is nothing you can do about cold start. But I suspect the "assist" is still not working right. I never get a "rough" position (other than Nigeria which is probaly Lon 0 Lat 0). If "assist" was working I should initially get a position within my ZIP code. It's either nigeria or spot on (sats come online). My daughters BB phone seems to only have "assist" GPS and you can clearly tell by the positions it gives.

Re: GPS & standby mode

can someone just modify an option in the comm manager to turn on/off the gps??

i think this should be the most viable solution rather than a today plugin or application to kick it off. I have a feeling when sprint releases(hahahah!!) their gps rom they'll be including a comm manager button for gps.

Re: GPS & standby mode

GPS today is set to do obtain a GPS fix every hour or so, which could potentially keep the GPS device from ever having to "cold start" barring a soft reset.

Nope doesn't work for me.

Once I put it into standby, the GPS doesn't work anymore until I reset the device.

Give it a chance. It has worked for me. Also, if you're going to use the auto update feature, you might want to check the setting "wake my device during fix intervals..."

On my phone with google maps and GPSmode set to 4 Google maps will put me close to my location but a few blocks away. The last time I used it it placed me right on top of a sprint tower that is a bit up the road from my store.

Since using GPSMode=4 assist is working great. Yes positions a a block a away or so but varies.
