Ok, well I have had some mixed results now. After following the suggested procedure with radio 3.37.15 and no GPS lock, I decided to try another clean flash this time going Alltel stock radio 3.37.10, then OMJs rom. Initially I was still getting no lock, even after letting it attempt to lock for in excess of 30 minutes. So I tried a few more times last night and couldn't get a lock. I see satellites show up in GPS Viewer, but no lock. Then this morning on my way to work I decided to try it and it ended up locking on after about 3 minutes. Everything worked perfectly in GPS viewer, Google Maps, Live Search. So I tested cycling the power on the unit and subsequent attempts were successful as well, those times locking in within 30 seconds or so. Well now I am trying it again around lunch time, and I can't get a lock at all. Cycling power gives same results. So I am somewhat encouraged, but my main question refers to the PPST. Is PPST only to be used for Sprint customers, or should everyone attempting GPS regardless of carrier run this? FYI I did end up changing my GPS to COM 2 to get these results. Thanks to everyone for their help, and especially OMJ for your hard work in producing and supporting this ROM.

I believe PPST should be in your Windows folder(it is in Sprint) run it and see if that helps

Microsoft setup a Automagic wizard to hide the setup and try to do it automatically, but it is not a very good wizard. Afterward you will need to edit the bad username and password you entered above and fix them & check the save password option at that point. My office exchange server now does a push update, and gmail does a imap update every 4 hrs for my personal e-mail.

Re: OMJ's WM6.1 Custom Touch ROM w/ UC, GPS, REV A! Updated 5/29/08

Okay, so I followed the all steps and have done everything correctly.

When I load Google Maps, and select Use GPS, it starts searching and actually shows a blue dot on the map CLOSE to where I am, but not EXACT. I'll say within 5-10 miles.

The thing is, it never finds or locks any sats. It says seeking sats (0), and every so often it will say active (0), and yet like I said, it is still able to find a location near me.

What's the deal and what can I do?

Re: OMJ's WM6.1 Custom Touch ROM w/ UC, GPS, REV A! Updated 5/29/08

After some time using the new roms I'm going to have to say that enabling gps on these phones isn't really that useful. It's way too hit or miss to be a reliable GPS device. It's fun to toy around with but not nearly solid enough to use for a full time GPS solution. I mean I can fire up the GPS in my car and have a lock in 15 seconds and the phone sitting right next to it can take 20mins or more and may never lock at all. I think we know the reason the Telco's haven't enabled GPS from the get go.

I've had np problems with the GPS on my SPRINT Touch. Locks within seconds. Have you run PPST.exe? if not look in your windows dir for it. Do you have GPS View? It sometimes locks on faster then other programs, DO NOT Close it before going to your GPS program leave running in background. As far as Google Maps goes go into OPTIONS>GPS SETTINGS> select MANUEL and set to COM 4 and 4800.. GOOD LUCK

Re: OMJ's WM6.1 Custom Touch ROM w/ UC, GPS, REV A! Updated 5/29/08

I wanted to post a thanks to everyone for helping me with all the comments and everything. I had problems getting the gps to connect, but then I went into start-> programs-> GPS Navigation-> GPS viewer and did a scan for the GPS to find that it was on Com 4 and I let it sit there and connect until it was working correctly. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get through all of the replies in this great post.

I have a few questions:
1) I accidentally forgot to run \Windows\PPST.exe when the instructions said to. What does not running this do? I was able to make calls and use the GPS with my Sprint Touch no problems. Did I miss out on something by not running that portion of the instructions?

2) Does anyone else have the problem with the HTC home plugin, when you add someone to a favorite, when you restart the phone, it resets it so that they're no longer in there? Has anyone run into this or learned how to fix it? I may re-install HTC home from HTC to see if that fixes it.

/*3) Previously I had the vibrate when I press a key when dialing working, but I've run the install from the file I had before and it no longer works. Does anyone else have a problem with this? If so, how do you fix it?*/ Fixed- I forgot after installing I needed to set the keypress back to short so it'll vibrate. The sounds are gone now and the phone just vibrates. Perfect!

Thanks again for all the awesomeness of this post!
