Flashed the new ROM and without adding anything, I got an accurate GPS lock with Live Search in 10 secs without any type of GPS primer!! Added all my junk and it is working flawlessly!! Turn on your Google maps and lock onto my address... you'll see me out in my front yard dancing in my underwear! ![]() |

btw....my location still wont work, you have to use the "use gps" feature. maybe someday....but I would need a stock rom to rip apart, do you have a link? Quote:
the new rom will also benefit non-sprint users, probably not as much.....just remember, it wasn't that long ago when none of us had gps until the new Alltel rom came out.

OMJ, let me tell you that you are simple a magic man.
I tarted with this project on my VZW VX6900 last night, of course I had some problems, they were all solved. This is the Story, may be good for VWZ users: First of, I've tryed other methods listed on this forum and so far none of then worked for VZW (in my case). I then gived a shot to OMJ method; using exactly as he adviced on the first port of this thread, been very caution NOT to let, I REPEAT, NO LETTING THE SPRINT CUSTOMIZATION RUN. The first problem i have was the phone no wanting to take the VZW antenna signal, after u turn off or soft reset the phone, it will take about 15/20 minutes to get service from the company, following the post of some some members who also had the same problem, I called the support department and after troubleshooting the phone in two occasions and with different representatives, they give me a new A-Key, which i used and for my surprise it didn't worked at all. So what worked for me? Simple, I just waited for the phone to get signal (about 20 minutes searching) and after it got it, i just stopped working with it, meaning no trying to use GPS or anything, to avoid having to soft/hard reset or to have to turn the phone off. I waited about 1 hour before doing anything, no even a phone call, after that, I turned the phone off and on, it took the signal right away, then I took the risk to soft reset it, and it again got the service right away. It look like all you need to do is to give the system some time (about an hour) to assimilate the new radio. Anyway, later I downloaded Live Search and Google Map, both of then got good GPS satellite (about 5 or 6) in about 3 minutes. I went out in my car using Live with GPS enable, it was giving me directions just like a normal GPS would do. So my report for VZW Users is as follow
One last note: Its a good idea to activate another phone (if you have one) before doing all this. In my case, I activated my Moto Q and got the service on that one before starting with my VX6900 customization, that way you will have a backup if anything happen. You don't even have to call VZW to do that, all you got to do is go to your account online, and put the new ESN in there, then turn off the VX6900 and dial *22899 from the old phone. Good luck with that...! And all the credit go to OMJ and the other chefs at ppcgeeks, and other forums contributors. DJuse Last edited by DJuse; 06-25-2008 at 03:56 PM. |

I upgraded on the Verizon, and now I can't seem to be able to do 3-way calling or Call Waiting, is anyone else having this issue?

Re: OMJ's WM6.1 Custom Touch ROM w/ UC, GPS, REV A! Updated 5/29/08
I am planning on doing this rom update, just to get the GPS. I have a few questions though. I am not really a stranger to doing this, as I did it many times with my xv6700, but the stock xv6900 has been REALLY stable.
1) If the flash is done right has anyone noticed stability differences? 2) Is the OMJ Verizon OEM rom basically the same set of applications as what was shipped with the original xv6900? I dont want to go through trying to find stuff like touchflo htc home, etc. Thanks for the advice. ~Schwieb |
