Re: How-To Get GPS/Rev A on Sprint Touch
hey wildthing...i followed the steps in the first post exactly as they are written, no additional ROMs, no additional software. The first time I tried Google Maps I let it search for about 15 minutes, no lock. Then I launched google maps a second time and it locked in about 5 minutes. This morning it locked on sats in about 2-3 minutes. The Mio takes about the same time.
uh-oh...i see you work for Sprint...am I in trouble? ![]() |

I just installed the GPS Viewer and went outsite instead of the Window. I eventually got a lock (almost froze my feet off with this stupid record low crap). I will try in an hour or so w/ and w/o to see if it will lock. Crossing my fingers. |

Re: How-To Get GPS/Rev A on Sprint Touch
i got a lock last night INSIDE my apartment about 15 feet from a window, so I'd say the GPS radio is much more sensitive than I thought it would be. Also got it on the patio, but didn't freeze my feet off as it is about 80 degrees or so here in south florida

I expected the GPS performance to be snappy and keep up with me while I was driving... But... To have Google Maps redraw at 70MPH is expecting too much, I think. I'll be on the prowl for dedicated PPC GPS software that may perform better. Also, the little blue dot on Google Maps, is that supposed to represent "me" (my location)? If so, it is about 2 blocks off while driving... Still, I'm loving this GPS feature! It is young and will mature quickly. |

Re: How-To Get GPS/Rev A on Sprint Touch
Mr. Gadget
Yep google map is off for me too on the blue dots, I think because of the zoom level. I tried live search and it worked better, although I experience off-ness too when I zoom in all the way to the max as well. As for keeping up, I think it depends on how fast your data refreshes. I mean it has to download maps from the server and if your connection is slow. Chances are that your map might be off. For me I'm constantly in good EVDO area so my maps refresh really fast. I had iguidance 4 somewhere I need to get a hold of to use. |
