for the restarting before customizations start step, how do you know when this point is? will it say "installing customizations" at which point you reset? just trying to figure out all these little things before i take the plunge

It'll say "starting customizations in 3..." and count down...so you have 3 seconds that you can soft reset lol.

hmhm gps does not work for me i'm trying live searh and it says unable to get location...

try uninstalling the gps cab, reset, reinstall, reset. if that doesnt work others have suggested dot freds task manager

I used it on my way to work this morning with iGuidance and it definitely wasn't as smooth as it was with the BT GPS. I found a FAQ though that gives a workaround for iGuidance issues...so I'll try that later.

I haven't tried it with any other app, and I didn't use it long enough to test the battery drain.

Well I have given up trying to get GPS working, I've tried on both roms (JD's temp rom) and the Alltel.

I have hard-reset at least 15 times.

Install the Unlocking Software (in the order 1,2,3)
Shutdown / Soft Reset
Install the HTC_GPS_Enable_for_Titan_3.35.cab
Shutdown / Soft Reset

Then I tried each of these (each with a fresh Hard-Reset too, after performing the above stuff). Each were left outside in clear sky for 30 minutes.

Installed VisualGPSce and tried running it, no luck. It just freezes.
Tried HTC QuickGPS which now updates. (but I don't think it does any more than this)
Tried the Holux GPS Viewer, says it's started, Does not show any sat's.
Tried Google Maps, Stuck at Initializing GPS

The Phone Location is On, the External GPS Settings are correct (Com4, None, 4800, Use).
