can anyone that's got the gps going describe what happens when you use gpsviewer? With my external gps, gpsviewer scans and finds the gps on com4. with the touch, it scans, says open failed on all coms but 7&8 and says "none" for them. I've installed the alltel rom and other files. With googlemaps it says initializing and then says no gps found.

I just updated to the new alltel rom 3.35.671.9 radio 3.37.20
did the 1 2 3 files installed the gps enable cab
reset,then started google maps


this is the first time it hasnt said gps not present error message.

But it has been like 10 mins and it says across teh top of google maps

39kb. Seeking GPS Satelites (0)...

it did how ever move from San Fransico to my Home town, but stil shows 0 gps... any idea?

I had that issue with the alltel rom too ...... however I thought that it may had been a error in my phone however after a couple of presses mine would open the phone program ...... but you also have to remember that they originally did not include gps drivers with the rom so that may have a play on it

Im so confused, . How do i check my Radio vers #? and all i need to enable gps and reva is the gpstest2.1? (CDMA TOUCH HERE!!!)

I dont need to flash to alltel from first do I? I think i racked my brain reading all the diff roms out there... thanks for your clearification (..could u maybe spell it all out for me , lol)

Weird . All updates went great.. REVA nice and fast , use GPSViewer and see 12 sats but never get a Fix on postition.. no lat no long but see all the Sats.?

Hats off the those up created the roms EXCELENT JOB!!!!

To check your radio version on your Touch:
go to Start --> Settings --> System Tab --> Device Information ( radio Version - 3rd down)

To answer your question: Yes you do need to flash Alltell ROM first -- READ this Thread http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=24979 <-- READ IT ! someone already did your homework, so you don't have to.

weird... i flashed this after updating to cokemans 3.51 er something.. seems fine. actually Ive gotten alot further than I was with the supposed verizon rom. Still no rev A and still roaming and cant ota cos I need to change the SPC code but no means to have it recgnized as modem. bricking? seems a bit rash.. me thinks you didnt follow instructions silly boy :)
