If by 'use' you mean 'brick your phone without being able to flash any other rom to it'...

Oooh this is fun! So, if I flash my sprint phone with this rom, it adds in extra functionality like doubling as a frisbee and doggie chew toy? I gotta do this like, now!

There's always a possibility. Just because you cannot see air, does not mean it isn't there.

Re: New Alltel Rom?

BTW I am on Alltel. And I can also confirm there seems to be some software compatibility issues now. MacFlo does not work on the updated rom. I flashed my phone twice only loading MacFlo each time to confirm this. The creen goes dark and launches apps but the cube faces don't load. I'll post this to the MacFlo thread as well.

Also, each time I flash my phone, my SID is being dropped (reset to a 1) and I have to manually fix this. Seems to be a bug in the rom

Re: New Alltel Rom?

For those that have allready flashed and are stuck would SuperCID the phone be an option? It might help bypassing the carrier check that the Software upgrade checks for.

Also I remember back in the Apache days, One of the Cellphone Operators had released a software update that updated the bootloader. Which prevented people from flashing back to the custom roms. To circumvent this issue we used mtty to help revert back to a previous bootloader.

Good news all, thanks coke for all the work you're doing.

Has it been confirmed that this rom gets us no where nearer to GPS?

Just Curious...

Keep up the good work,

Re: New Alltel Rom?

You can't SuperCID the phone without flashing to a HardSPL, which I think you can't do without being able to boot the phone.

Although a thought I had is, if you can't flash an old OEM ROM because the original HardSPL was overwritten by the new SPL and CID locking the phone, shouldn't you be able to go back into bootloader and completely flash the new Alltel ROM, THEN boot the phone, write HardSPL back into it, and then flash an old OEM Sprint ROM back into it?

Is there any chance that's because it's using new display drivers???

I don't think its possible to flash the complete Alltel rom due to the fact it checks the CID to see which carrier the phone belongs to.

Re: New Alltel Rom?

just thought i'd share:

I broke apart the new nbh and took out the special radio file. I then broke it apart and took out the spl, leaving only the radio.

After flashing only the radio, my device is deinitely Rev. A enabled. My speeds on my phone have never been anywhere close to as fast as they are now. PLEASE NOTE: flashing just the radio (ONLY DO THIS IF YOU REMOVE THE SPL FROM THE RADIO NBH FIRST) will cause your phone to say "NO RADIO" when it boots. BUT the phone will still work just fine. It has great signal and my internet is 5x faster than it was (based on the speeds i'm getting at dslreports.com/mspeed)

I've successfully flashed it back to the stock radio with no problem.

I'm having the same problem. It also wouldn't work correctly with Icube or Vistacube. And couldn't uninstall them. Had to hard reset.

Re: New Alltel Rom?

I have alltel and am about to flash. Anyone have those three files for GPS and can walk me through how to add them? I read on xda that the GPS is not working, though there was not much more info than that.

Also, can I go ahead and flash now and add them later? Never flashed before, only had the phone for a month and haven't been hacking at it or anything, so I'm definitely new to this. Though I am pretty computer capable! hehe

Someone hurry up and give me some info cause I am in a hurry to do this on the quick-fly!!!

No offense, but I'd like to see some actual upload/download speeds. I'm not necessarily doubting your claims, but I'd like some results in numbers. :)

I did something similar but did not break apart the SPL from the Radio. It flashed successfully, displaying the radio information during boot, but it will not get past the HTC Welcome screen. It will be a few days before I get a replacement, so if need be I'll be a guinea pig for the unlocker.

Re: New Alltel Rom?

So I am impatient and updating my phone right now.

For the speed skeptic, I just got 898kbit/sec on dslreports.com/mspeed without rev a. I will edit this post to tell you what I get after update. BTW, I am in the 116 SID right now.

Edit: Thanks mark. I found those particular files earlier, but looked p***** them as the one is missing. I also need to know how to use them. So if you or anyone else knows how to use them and finds the other, please let me know.

Edit 2: Speed wasn't any faster for me. Probably my market. Would love to get that GPS working though!

Edit 3: wow... alot of edits... anyway. 3rd file is up on the same thread over at xda. Anyone know where to put it?

Re: New Alltel Rom?

I think this should be added to the Sticky: Info On Vogue Custom ROMS & GPS by budney.

Looking forward to REV-A and GPS!
