Re: New Alltel 3.04.671.2 Rom Released, Rev A enabled

Using the Alltel ROM, I finally got my GPS to lock while I was in my car, but I must say, its NOTHING like using my BT receiver.

While driving, its like the phone can't keep up. I was using iGuidance and the little symbol would quit moving, then after driving about 1/2 mile further it jumped and caught up. I was locked on 3-4 satellites. I never saw that with my BT GPS receiver.

I'm about to try the 6.1 Sprint ROM, but I can't test the driving until later.

can you post your steps in getting it to work? i have tried the 1 2 3 files and then installed the HTC_GPS_Enable_for_Titan_3.35.cab then also installed HTC_QuickGPS.CAB and still says scanning GPS in GarminMobileXT! and the weird thing quickgps won't update at all starts downloading and then says failed to download

thanks

JD's 6.1 does not have everything for gps.

For example, look in the registry at hklm\software\htc\suplgps

I hope you did not let the customization run during the Alltel rom installation. If so then your going have to flash back to the Official Sprint rom, and let the customizations run. Then reflash the Alltel rom without letting the customizations run.

I did the first time I installed it (since I was one of the first to get it installed, there wasn't a warning about that).

Any ideas on what it changes to disable the internet? I would think you should be able to change it back, maybe with the ## codes.

so just to recap where we're at:

has anyone successfully flashed the alltel ro, got the REVA/gps working and then flashed JD's Sprint WM6.1 rom and have EVERYTHING still work? I want to flash but I really don't want to lose WM6.1.....

thanks!

I can confirm GPS worked on the Alltel ROM. I can't verify Rev A since my internet didn't work at all (apparently its because I let the customizations run).

Just flashed to JD's ROM, I will let you know what I find.

thanks, waiting (not patiently).

and I am a little confused. If this turns out to be a complete disaster for me, can I flash back to one of the sprint WM6.1 roms I have been running for months or can I not do that since I will have used the 2.31 unlocker already??

wow, look at the progress everyones made in the past 2-3 days.. very impressive and this leaves a huge egg in sprints face.. they've been crippling phones forever and its about time the community shows em a thing or two.

with that said when can we expect a real nice base rom 6.1/reva/gps for sprint or separate carriers??
i see right now we got a few test roms going around but im not ready to risk anything

Re: New Alltel 3.04.671.2 Rom Released, Rev A enabled

GPS and Rev A work fine with the Alltel Rom.

As I said a couple of posts up, JDs rom is still missing some registry stuff (at least)...

That's not related to the radio, that's the ROM. Sprint uses the thinner bars and other carriers seem to have the thicker bars.

Can someone post a step by step guide including links to files for installing the REV-A and GPs on a Sprint Touch.
Sorting through 44 pages of this is extremely confusing. I certainly do not want to brick my phone, but I am about creaming in my jeans to get GPS.
Thanks, and all the work done here is much appreciated.

Re: New Alltel 3.04.671.2 Rom Released, Rev A enabled

For what it's worth, I was messing around with the Alltel's .nbh to cook up a slightly different ROM.

I unlocked using 2.31, then ran the Alltel exe. I don't live in a REV A area and I didn't mess around with GPS yet.

I extracted the Alltel .nbh from the installer and prepped it. I added a couple OEM's, Build-Osed it and Built a new ROM. I didn't change the page pool from the default of 12. After installing, everything works fine (except I still don't live in a Rev A area and I will try to get GPS working soon).

So just in case you wanted to try to build your own ROM, it seems to work fine with the new unlocker (2.31) and the kitchen tools. I imagine we will soon see a 6.1/Alltel hybrid for Sprint that allows REV A, GPS, and 6.1.

It doesn't seem like more work than a typical custom ROM installation. The only difference is installing the GPS files.

It's probably still too early to tell, but can anyone comment on storage card stability with the new Alltell rom? I know the corruption issue has been driving a lot of people crazy, so some new card drivers would be awesome. Is there an issues/observations thread on the new ROM yet? I didn't see one.

can we revert back to our custom WM6.1 roms we have been using if this does not work for us or do we have to wait until sprint releases something "official"???

Re: New Alltel 3.04.671.2 Rom Released, Rev A enabled

I just got my internet working on JD's ROM by going into Phone Settings, Services, Internet, Get Settings, then running a client-initiated IOTA.

As someone else stated though, it doesn't look like JD's has everything to get GPS working. Using a task manager, I can see the GPD device, but not the service :( (even after running the 1,2,3 files and the gps cab).

Install after the 1,2,3 files for unlocking, which is the second link 3 posts down in the thread i just posted. Direct link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...02&postcount=3

Recommended advice i've found is install the 1,2,3 unlock files. Soft reset, Install the GPS ENABLE cab, soft reset and it should work somehow. .

This is exactly what I did on my Alltel Touch.. The only other step is turn location on... After the last reset, I launched google maps, and it immediately went to seeking sats.. About 3-4 minutes later it had me locked within about 15 feet. Since then, I have reset the device a couple of times just to test, and google maps acquires a lock in less than a minute now. Windows live works as well..

Garmin gps's use a different protocol then most gps's - that might be your problem..

Easy way (somewhat) to check Rev A is to connect a laptop via BT ICS and go to speedtest.net

If your upstream is faster than 100/200 or so, then you're on Rev A!
