Re: Flashing How-To. Updated 5/23/08 to Include Quick GPS/Rev-A How-To

I have a really silly question to ask. Where am i running the files from to do this? The RUU and the Imcokeman and rom. Are these done through my phone or computer. Sorry for such a silly question, i am a little nervous doing this for the first time on a Bell Touch. Thank you

Don't mean to be the least bit offensive, but if you are asking those questions you may want to do a bit more reading before flashing.

Regardless, the files are run from your windows pc

Just reading the entire first post as well as the entire first post of imcokemans unlocker thread will probably do a lot of good for you if you haven't done that already

I am honestly stumpped as to where else to read. I want the Manila 2d but i can't find a .cad for it for my phone, the Touch/Vogue and what i do read makes no sense to me. I know i am very much a fish out of water here just not to sure what else to do.

Then you may need to call verizon and have them help you reprovision your phone..possibly.

That should get you GPS and Rev. A capabilities. If you want a custom rom, you will need to unlock w/ imcokeman's unlocker (the gps version, not .40) AFTER doing the steps described above.

I really wish I could tell you for sure...you might try just starting a new thread about it as I'm not positive anymore.
Thanks! This is going to help I got confused when I was unlocking my phone lol.

Check this thread out (not really the whole thread, its MONSTROUS. Just the first few posts by the developer. That should really get you on your way! Also, there is a vogue rom over on ppchaven that already has manilla incorporated. I used that rom a while back and it was pretty good, sorta outdated now though): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398173

As for translating that thread / those instructions...I can't really help you there as I never really took the time to understand them myself, though I'm sure it can't be too bad.

Just feel free to keep asking questions! Specific ones! and you'll be fine.

Re: Flashing How-To. Updated 5/23/08 to Include Quick GPS/Rev-A How-To

Hi all,

I was wondering if the internal GPS is constantly running in the background and using up the battery?
Can I selectively turn it off to conserve battery power or does it only run when an application calls for it?

I believe that GPS starts only when an application calls for it, but then does remain on even when the application is closed for some period of time that I don't know. I always just try to be safe and just soft-reset when I'm finished (should be soft-resetting once or more / day anyway).

It does exactly like jim said, but no need to soft reset...If you feel the need open task manager and see if its still running.
