Re: Flashing How-To. Updated 5/23/08 to Include Quick GPS/Rev-A How-To

I have followed all of the instructions on the first page and I think the new ROM has loaded onto my phone but when it tried to restart my phone just freezes on the black htc smart mobility screen. I tried to load the ROM again and I have also tried to load the radio and then ROM to see if any of this helps but it will not load past the htc smart mobility screen. what can i do to get my phone working again?

Thanks

Im in the same boat. Its stuck on the HTC boot screen after following the consolidated GPS/Rev A tutorial. Got through all but the flashing of Dharvey's full custom rom. Anybody that could jump in here and help us out would be GREATLY appreciated](*,)

OK its back.....I had to re-load the Sprint test rom from the bootloader screen (power + camera) then put the sprint test rom back on to get it to work.

I've already upgraded my Alltel rom to 3.04.671.2. Can I still follow Jim's update to turn on my GPS? If I'm unsucessful, will the phone hard reset to the same rom or will it go back to the original 1.xx.xxx.x?

EG

and if you are already on alltels latest rom and radio, then simply run the alltel ppst cab, then ppst.exe in the windows directory, and you should be good to go! :)

Jim, I upgraded my phone from HTC's website which gave me the latest rom and (I assume) the latest radio 3.37.10. Do I still have to unlock the rom then reload a custom rom then run the Alltel ppst to activate gps? Or can I simply now just run the ppst.cab then the ppst.exe.

Sorry for the questions, but I'd like to get this right the first time. Thanks for your help!

I just ran this and it worked FANTASTIC everything went pretty much as said. only difference i found was with steps 8 and 9 , when i went to install the file it told me there already was one and it wouldnt install so im not sure what that does but erm so if thats a problem someone please tell me :p. But otherwise everythigns great, its running very fast and the rev- a is fast :D

i havnt been able to test gps yet but it looks like it should be fine, it has the sprint navigation software on automatically.

*edit* gps is GREAT i tried it inside, and within probly 30 seconds i got a lock and thats inside :D

you can just go ahead and run the alltel ppst cab and exe now :) of course if you want a custom rom just cuz you want it custom-done, then you will need to unlock and flash, but if its gps you're looking for, that should do ya! :)

good luck and feel free to stop back and ask any more questions, keep us posted!
