dont worry about it being really beta. it works great, excepting only the occasional freeze (depending on how often you use pie, texting, etc..). however, unfortunately, this is currently a problem with most all (with only one being an exception i think) wm 6.1 vogue roms.

i am using it and have gone to other roms and back many times. it is clean and as stable and fast as currently vogue 6.1 roms can be.

i just wish he would update...others are making lots of progress, and i would bet that he has the capability...its just a shame he doesnt have much reason to pay attention to the vogue community.

as for gmail, there are instructions on how to get it to work flawlessly, basically just go around the problem - dont let messaging know that it is a gmail account. i think you have to input it incorrectly during set-up...ie yourname@gmael.com, then it will let you do it. after all is said and done, you go back and edit to the correct address and..wala!

good luck.

and keep in mind rdwing that this is a rom only for VOGUE's...not moguls or Q's (i seem to recall you previously wanting to flash a vogue rom to a mogul).

sorry, let me clarify. i did not mean that in any sort of insulting/whatever you wanna call it way. i just meant - he doesnt have a vogue, did a lot of (great) work for the vogue community already, and probably just decided thats good enough and to leave it at that.

i am very very grateful for what he has done, he has REALLY helped EVERYONE A LOT. im just saying i wish he had a vogue or something so that he would be motivated to continue to grant the vogue users his knowledgeable help and assistance.

as for the updating...i also asked that quite a few posts back, and even pm'd him...but never received an answer/reply to either. he did say once that he hadnt forgotten about the vogue community yet and we just needed to hang in there but...idk? im not really sure.

sorry for the misunderstanding, good luck!

Sorry if my question was already answered but I couldn't find if that ROM actually makes the GPS works on the Vogue?

Thank you, Jim2561 ... I wonder if you happen to have the base kit? I want to drop this into a Kitchen and cook up something especially sweet.

well i assume you already know this, but thought i might as well say it just in case. using prepit.bat in latissimos kitchen (or something similar in whatever kitchen you're using) will do the same thing as having the basekit. the basekit is the oem, rom, and sys folders. by running prepit.bat on an nbh, it will separate a rom into these separate folders for you.

but ya sure ill throw it on my folder.

jim.

EDIT: let us know what you end up cookin up

Jim,

Thanks so much. I haven't had a chance to look at what you put up on the ftp, regarding a base kit, but I'll be certain to follow-up with results.

My experience with PPCKitchen has left me very spoiled and perhaps, using terms relative to PPCKitchen that apply a little bit differently to other kitchens.

I had, over the course of this week (as you suggested) used PrepIt.bat to decompose a *.NBH file into a base kit, but the resulting base kit is not the same as what I have experienced with a base kit for PPCKitchen. When a base kit for PPCKitchen is produced, the chef will also publish a selections.txt to be used. This selections.txt helps in determining what is already included in the original base kit (.Net 3.5, for example).

When I use PrepIt.bat, there is no selections.txt and BuildOS.exe does not populate with the items that are in the base kit, so that I can un-check (removing) items from the base kit.

Thanks for listening and for your help.

Best regards,
-boggsie

concerning the selections.txt that usually accompany the sort of kitchens you are used to, im afraid you will have to do without that sort of thing here sorry to say.

what you can do, however, is go into the SYS folder, but i would recommend checking the OEM folder first. there you will find all of the folders for things you would like to include/remove from your rom. if you find something you dont like (such as transcriber, windows live, interenet sharing, remote desktop, htc album, etc...) just delete the corresponding folders. if there is something you would like included in the rom, find (or make) an oem folder for it, and drop it in the oem (or sys) folder of your kitchen. buildos only scans the oem folder for things to include/not include. everything in the sys folder is included, and only things you tell buildos to include from the oem folder will be included (excepting things that dont have an option.xml (such as standard things like operator_pkg and such)).

hope that cleared up a lot for you! feel free to ask any other questions you might have.

also, (sorry) i forgot to upload the basekit to my ftp yesterday after i posted that message, and didnt remember until much later. i am uploading it now anyway.

good luck.

Actually, you can put an option.xml file in the SYS folder, and then include/exclude folders insided of SYS.

i havent been using htc home (by choice) for a few weeks now and...i am plenty used to it :) i can either fit more on my today screen, or have a picture i can actually see in the background, its pretty nice.

either way though, you can just recook the rom yourself with what you want (ie htc home), or install it via cab (and user customization if you want) after...its not too bad at all!

just for the record..i think most all the roms out there for the vogue are still BASED on this one...not quite sure though now with all the updating of the builds..

I never used HTC home ... I am one of those people who prefer stacked screens with all of my pertinent information at my fingertips (at a glance). Thus, my home screen is a bunch of stacked plugins.

------------------------
Elecont Weather
------------------------
Messaging Plugin
------------------------
Today Agenda
------------------------
pRSS Reader
------------------------
Win Media Player Plugin
------------------------
Live Search Home Plugin

The HTC Home Plugin, from what I saw, partitioned information off of the immediately viewable home screen ... each tab showing more information, but you had to activate each tab to see what was there

This is a fairly accurate or true statement for me, as I rely on my home screen for much more than many.

However, for a few folks who, 90% of the time, use their Touch as a Phone and maybe a media player, HTC Home is probably quite good for them them.

Another consideration is that Phone Alarm and PocketPlus are both commercial software that you will need to pay for in order to register / get full benefit / remove nag-alerts. HTC Home comes with the phone, so it doesn't cost you anything extra.

What I find really interesting, is that as memory strapped as the Mogul is, folks are using HTC Home on that device; perhaps at the expense of being able to comfortably run other applications. ](*,)

To each his own! :headbang:

Oh.. No2Chem ROM is for those most experienced users who do not ever need the HTC Home screen and use other programs to replace their Home Screen ..

What kind of other programs that are actually better than HTC Home screen you guys use ?

lets not get this thread off-topic (although its mostly dead anyway), but it depends on which one you try to set up im sure. there must be a thousand different iphone packs/themes/skins/etc.. just google it or search on xda or lakeridge's site. you will find PLENTY. some are really easy, but i tried one one time that was a real pain.

good luck.

whenever i was using my titan the only ROMs i would use would be a no2chem ROM or a kitchen made ROM based on no2chems work. i really think we could get alot further with our phones and no2chems work now that he doesnt have to worry to much about the ram but seems as though his work is titan exclusive i think he would have more opportunities with this phone. really i am just wondering if he would give some more thought to development on our phones because my titan wouldnt have been near as fun to own if it werent for his work.

good day no2chen
are you thinking about releasing another update to your vogue custom rom???

no2chem 06-11-2008 03:45 PM

Re: No2Chem nueROM-V (WM 6.1)

anyway, i've been getting a flood of emails about if i will ever update this - I will, but... the titan rom isn't even stable yet, and I don't have a device (vogue) to test on, so thats whats really keeping me from releasing anything for this device.

I know theres many of you that are more than willing to test a rom, but building one takes time, and there are logistics + energy involved in distributing and diagnosing issues with a rom that I just don't really have time to deal with now - its really easy to figure out a problem with a device in hand.

of course, if you're willing to donate a device, thats another story but... as of right now you'll just have to wait until I have the titan rom figured out, so sometime after 5070 (if you've been following the titan thread).
