Using DogGuy Kitchen -- thank DG for the bad A Kitchen and thanks Latt for the ftp link

ROM V 107 -- thanks No2, you rock the rom rocks thanks to JD for cleaning it up in v 103
Added Sprint Touch Keyboard OEM provided by dnj04 -- thanks d or j or both
Added HTC Home 2.1
Added Random Access
Added VC1.6
Added HTC TaskMngr
Set pagepool to 24MB

of course I added some of my fav reg tweaks and apps after the ROM was cooked.

I'm fast, I'm stable, and I'm clean. Can't ask for anything more. Okay maybe skyfire, I really want skyfire.

Any chance of getting this upladed?

Anybody will cooking experience please help:

In BuildOS I keep getting an error with the file 'aac_reader.dll" inside of OEM\OEMAPPS. I'm not exactly sure what that file has to deal with so I'm not positive if I selected an OEM package that already contains that file. I'm assuming the OEMAPPS package is required since it has the images to the cube inside so... what should I do? Any help is appreciated.

dereknjenny04 02-07-2008 06:43 PM

I would just delete the file ( or copy to another location ) and give it a try.

Edit: I would search for the OEM which is causing the duplicate and remove it from there, not the OEMAPPS folder.

buildOS will give errors if there are duplicate files.....search throuout your OEM's to find the duplicate.....from there, I've heard some say delete one, others say rename, the correct after flash.

mr.jcarter 02-07-2008 06:50 PM

Do I need to check inside of the SYS directory to make sure I have no duplicates as well? no2chem has the HTC home plugin with the color icons but I want the original colored ones, does that mean I need to delete the OEM HTC Home Plugin from SYS then select the version I want in BuildOS?

mr.jcarter 02-07-2008 06:54 PM

Well I just flashed my first custom ROM, here's what it's got in it. I'll play around with it for a while and see how everything goes. So far so good though. If anybody would like a copy just let me know and I'll upload. I guess you can call it a "semi-clean" ROM.

Sprint Keyboard
Random Access
HTC Album
HTC Audio Manager
Resco 2007
HTC Task Manager X-Button
Blue Cube Icons
HTC Home Plugin (6-Tabs)
Pagepool of 20

BRLE's Kitchen has the animated Sprint Boot Splash in an OEM.

For now, just install those cabs, I need to create OEM's to cook in the ROM.

As I understand it, it reduces your RAM, but increases your cache RAM

You are correct, it does come out of the RAM. It is a cache that is in the RAM, not the storage memory. That's why everything that mentions a pagepool edit warns that available RAM will decrease by increasing the pagepool size.

Thanks, but I think I tried it, and BuildOS gave me errors....I'll try again.

dereknjenny04 02-07-2008 08:38 PM

Yeah, you need to remove the startupanimation.dll from either his OEM, or the OEMAPPS directory.

That should fix your problem.

mr.jcarter 02-07-2008 08:42 PM

Sorry if this is a little off topic but... I'm using the new jbed java and trying to get my opera mini shortcut to work. It used to work fine with the old jbed but now I cant seem to get the number right (the one that is after the "s" in the shortcut). I have tried numbers 0-9 with no luck. It just opens java and shows Opera Mini inside, instead of automatically opening it up. this is the only java app I have installed by the way.

example of what I have now= "\windows\jbed.exe" -run s0

how do you get rid of the green start menu?

Ok,... this is the part that's got me totally confused. I've successfully unlocked and flashed the 6.1, but there's a lot of missing sprint stuff,... a Today Screen for one! I guess that's what you mean by "clean". I DL'd the basekit, but don't know what to do with it. I'm assuming it's the stuff that makes the phone recognizable as a Sprint phone,... maybe.

My questions:

1. What is a kitchen? Is it another app that's ran behind the unlocker/RUU one-two punch? If so, I'm gathering that I place these three folders in the basekit DL in the the kitchen folder similarly to the way I placed the 'RUU_signed.nbh' image into the RUU folder for flashing. Right?

2. Where do I find the regular ron (stock Sprint rom) to extract the os.nb? Do I put this one extraced file in the RUU folder along with the RUU_signed.nbh 107 build?

3. What is an XIP? Do I need to do this ONLY if I plan on using Windows Live?

Now I read that no2chem wasn't available for support, but I hope either he doesn't consider this support (yeah), or someone else to chime in with a little assistance! I almost got this thing understood, but I didn't deal with the terms basekit, kitchen and XIP during my first flash of the 100 build,... which was successful and relatively easy!

Thanks!

nayr2 02-08-2008 02:40 PM

I'm confused about the XIP deal too. I'm on Bell Mobility, not sprint, do I need to alter anything to take this into account?

I need someone to back me on this. I'm begging and pleading for a rom that still has the core touch items. I think there are many of us out here that really want touchflo. I've heard numerious requests for the touch keyboard. Personally, I like the large start menu. We need a clean rom that is still a touch rom. If I have any backers on this say it loud, day it proud.

I agree - a clean ROM should retain the HTC programs that give a device its unique identify. I'm all in favor of dropping Sprint bloatware, and useless MS stuff like Customer Experience and Windows Update (has it EVER done ANYTHING?!).

*BEWARE*cooking ROM's are extremely addictive! The Touch Kitchens are definitely more of a challenge then the Apache Kitchen.....but it's so fun :D

just to let everyone know, I haven't forgotten all touch users, my last touch build didn't work (thanks deck for testing). I am working out issues such as the encryption/storage one on the titan and port fixes over when it is stable.... it might be a little bit more until we figure it out.

Also, is there really no way to manually setup gmail IMAP?
(thanks No2, you're a life saver for us impoverished Vogue users ;))

For IMAP with gmail when setting up account just dont choose to auto find settings do it manually and then it will let you choose imap

dl latissimos vogue kitchen. make sure you have dl'd no2chems basekit 107.

dont really have much time right now. but i will tell you tomo, and maybe someone else will chime in before then :)

basically:

drop the basekit into latissimos vogue kitchen, then find some oem packages, and put the oem into the oem folder. then run buildos, then run buildit.bat.

then you should be good to go!! there are a bunch of large oem collections everywhere. good luck!

hey no2, just wanted to check in on how things are going with the new/latest build. im not sure if its an issue with my custom rom or what exactly, but there seems to be a few quirks in 6.1.

Re: No2Chem nueROM-V (WM 6.1)

I got a question guys. I've learned quite a bit over the last few weeks and I've even been spending some time in the kitchen. But what's got me stumped right now is how to put the stock HTC/Sprint dailer skin back on some of these custom ROMS. Most of the later builds are coming out with what I believe you guys are calling the Vista dailer. Not as aesthetically please as the stock dailer in my opinion. Love the blue icons and highlights, just not that dailer. I think it's the gap between the number buttons that's got me holding my nose.

Also, I've noticed that my email clears itself everytime I send/receive. All of my previously retrieved mail vanishes,.... poof,.... gone! Mail in my Windows Live boxes keeps, as does the mail in the Sprint's Mobile Email generated inbox. This began happening after my first couple of flashes. Is there a switch I sould flip to keep my mail in the 'inbox' until I choose to delete it? This only happened after I went to 6.1 so I'm assuming the reason is in the ROM. Right assumption?

Thanks for all your help last week jim2561,... much appreciated.

is your account a pop account? most of the email accounts that are pop accounts delete read msgs from the server like that. i have not had that issue however...not sure why. there is a setting somewhere, but i cant remember what it is...anyone else care to chime in?

if your account isnt a pop account...im not sure. and ya you bet no prob.

n02, i have been using DNJ's 107.5 rom and i love that set up he has on it but there seems to be a few problems. has there been lockups on this rom? so far we noticed lockups with long presses on the touch screen, long phone calls and IE /opera uses. Has this rom experienced the same thing?
