Good job jakdillard, just remember to update PocketCM to 0.17 (it came out very recently) ;)

Red49er 12-29-2007 10:41 AM

Is this for the Touch or the Vogue? (GSM or CDMA)? Thanks.

coolbean 12-29-2007 01:23 PM

Hi,

I understand that this is for Sprint Vogue. I have a Bell Canada's Vogue (CDMA). Can I use this?

Also, if I use this rom, would I lost my voice+data plan with Bell and ended using sprint voice+data plan? I mean this is CDMA...

Thanks and forgive my ignorance if I'm totally out there...

pheixe 12-29-2007 03:37 PM

well i tried the rom, and loved it. so far just minor problems. no biggie. i am very confortable with it. but one thing i do wanna get changed is the sms.. how can i put it to use it with pocketpcm. how can i do that? other than that wow is awesome thanks ALOTT

Darkflame808 12-29-2007 05:01 PM

Exciting stuff!. Glad to see roms slowly churning out. I definitely will have to give this rom a shot. Keep the updates rolling and my touch will be P.I.M.P in no time.

pheixe 12-29-2007 05:14 PM

Bell and Sprint ROMs have always been interchangeable, however your data settings may need to be reprovisioned, depending on how Bell does things on that end.

If nothing else, you can always flash back... Bell has released the first official ROM update.

Unlock your device and have some fun :)

My first PPC was a Treo 700wx so im new to roms and the such.. what exactly does it do and how does it benefit... feel like such a dumb question lol

soundworkspr 12-29-2007 06:58 PM

well the rom is very nice its working great no problem yet

EtherealRemnant 12-29-2007 07:31 PM

I never really had that many problems with mine but I might download the ROM anyway.

custom roms such as Jake's offer many improvements over the stock rom with custom registry edits that "fix" many of the short comings of the stock rom. They also include many third party applications that are stored in ROM, which saves the user from having to install these apps and saves storage space on the device to allow for even more programs :) The best part is that guys like Jake [and those on xda-developers] can take enhancements and hacks that are found on other HTC or PPC or WM6 devices and port them over to the Touch.

Now, changing your ROM is not for everyone, but once you get the basics down, you'll find that you can alter your user experience at will through the simple process of changing your ROM; it's like getting a new phone every time!

noob here

I am a big time noob here. I am very interested in installing this on my brand new touch I got yesterday. Nothing is done to it except for google maps and siriuswm5. What do I need to do to install this. I am D/L right now. Thanks for your help.

doubleu 12-29-2007 10:04 PM

Thanks for this rom! Lots of different programs on here I haven't used before. One question though. What is the thing, where when I click on the battery icon, a larger balloon pops up with large signal meter, battery, volume, etc. icons appear? And can i disable it? for some reason there is a small section under the start bar, right in the center where when you click there, this balloon pops up, and it's interfering with my phonealarm sms button.

mswlogo 12-29-2007 10:10 PM

Is memmaid a trial?

Why 2 registry editors (memmaid includes one)?

Ditto. I'm having the same problem. I did a hard reset after installing the ROM too. What's the deal. If I can't use PIE, I gotta go back to the stock ROM pronto. Thanks

Ya Boi D 12-30-2007 05:00 AM

Im a noob with custom ROM's....If I want or need to go back to the original ROM, what would I need to do? Hard reset & it will go back to the original ROM or re-install the original Sprint Touch ROM from someone kind enough to post it?

nope you will need to reflash the rom. go to htcamerica.com and you will find the rom there

lutzik 12-30-2007 06:30 AM

I like your rom for touch just as same as for mogul, great work.
Some problems. Resco pocket radio, shows only speed selection and then closes.

Internet explorer crashes aswell, maybe because of the PIE plus. If you remove the PIE from the remove programs in the settings the EI will work fine.
Touch has a new large start menu which doesn't play well with quickMenu, you can't open the large menu only, the quickMenu will show up.
Also i am not so sure touch needs the pokcetcm contacts, since the stack contacts is not bad. And the sms option of pocketsm will crash it on openning. Could be a conflict with the threaded palm sms. Hope there is a workaround since i like them both.
Also when openning threated sms from the htc home menu on the first page, for some reason it will open the regular massenger inbox and only then the threaded sms. Makking you have to close both of them when you are done. But if opened from the programs list, opens only by itself. And, btw, nice theme on htc home, much better than on mogul :) At least i can tell the time now
That's all so far. Thanks so much for your hard work. :)

You should not have any problem connecting to Bell. I flashed my device with the Sprint ROM by CokeMan and Latissimo, although the Latissimo's ROM show an update Radio, I am able to use my Bell network (voice+data+txt+etc...) without any problem at all... the only changes are sprint-based software. One thing to is your data connection. The device will "Sprint PCS" rather than the regular "Data Connection" as Bell has it...just a naming thing as u'll actually connecting to Bell's data network instead

I'm gon' give the JD's ROM a test drive in a bid (downloading it) and will report back .....u may PM if you have questions

Flashed the device with JD's ROM, process was like a charm. Now comes the time to put it to the test.

-- Congrats JD

-- CoolBean; I flashed this ROM on a Bell device and all's working good. Voice is good...and Data (since both Sprint and Bell "dials" the same #777 to connect the Data network) is working just like a charm; it's just called "Sprint PCS" as I mentionned before

lips905 12-30-2007 01:45 PM

i flashed my touch with JD's rom ..Very nice.Is there a way to remove all of the sprint stuff since im with Telus .Also i have tried searching for telus rom but i cannot find it anywhere.Am I S.O.L do i have to wait till telus releases a rom update so that i can go back to telus rom?

doubleu 12-30-2007 02:13 PM

http://www.utstarcom.com/pcd/downloa...31398_Ship.exe

edit: ack, i shoulda known the 'BM' in the filename stood for Bell Mobile, hehe......

soundworkspr 12-30-2007 02:47 PM

hey JD cool rom installed it then i put it back to normal didnt like it anymore so i put you rom back on much more stuff ..

the only thing i dont like its the threaded sms i have a good idea how to mess with it i just want to know if there a way to remove or disable it

and that the only thing i dont like everything else is awsome kudos to ya hehe

rikk0 12-30-2007 02:56 PM

Also the quick look up for the contacts when you start to dial doesn't work also. You know, how it starts to sort or guess who you're trying to call as you press on the dial pad keys....

Your steps in order are as follow:

1. Unlock your device using the CokeMan's "Unlocker for Custom Roms on Vogue (sprint touch)"
2. Once completed, you can now flash your device using JD's ROM (Double- click the ROMUpdateUtility.exe inside the file if it doesn't launch automatically and follow the on-screen menu to flash it)
3. If you want go back to your ROM(), just flash bask the official ROM. (Bell's got one avail.) and you can easily find a Sprint one out there if you search.

Details on "Unlocker for Custom Roms on Vogue (sprint touch)" can be found here:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=12255

WORD OF CAUTION:
Everyone here probably knows that already but I thought it's worth mentionning. Although the instructions are pretty straight forward, it's important to note that you don't need these flash (specially JD has mentionned this BETA) as you may "brick" your phone....

Nevermind, you just have to select it in the option menu from the dial pad. In regards to what someone already mentioned before, when selecting sms from the home screen, it does open up the regular messaging app first, then the threaded. Having to close both of them upon exiting...great work and thanks...

Mikeschevelle 12-30-2007 08:35 PM

i would also like to uninstall the palm sms. the keyboard covers up the text box and i cannot see what i am typing. I would like to just use pocket cm.

I also have a question. If i were to try someone elses ROM do i need to uninstall this one or does the new one just install right over it

Since the threaded sms program and all other programs reside in ROM, there's nothing in "uninstall" since it was never "installed" in the first place. If you want to use pocket cm as your default sms program, you'll have to change the shortcut locations of those files.

There's no way to "uninstall" a ROM once it's been flashed. If you see someone else has a ROM you like, simply flash it over the existing one. It is akin to reformatting your hard drive and installing a new OS + apps.

So how can i get this done is there anything on disabling it or a registry hack i can do ??
plus i like this rom i dont want to go back to original i just want to get this little minor detail

deegimus 12-30-2007 10:47 PM

JD,
Thank you for your hard work!

-Could you direct me to a thread that would help me build my own ROM? (Vogue)

-Where did you find the "latest phone audio drivers"?
-My original internet sharing was tricky, but worked. What did you add to make it "working"?
-I, too, prefer the stock contact link
-S2U2 latest version is .95
-Have you seen the "Grumps iPhone Wow edition hack"? It's a nice option.

I have been testing apps non stop for two weeks and I'd like to put together a lean ROM with the best basic apps.

Thanks,
DJ

rikk0 12-31-2007 12:07 AM

okay, i've been searching for the stock rom with no success. The HTC website does not have it on there. Can someone please tell me where to find it?
