Question TP Compatible wit Boost, but is TP2??

I read awhile bk on here that you can infact use your TP on the Bosst Network. But people are still sayin it sooo can't be done. My friend worked for Sprint and now works for Boost and when we talked about it. She too said IMPOSSIBLE. Still Im not satisfied with that answer. Cuz after reading it on here and you all sayin that YES it can be done depending on the rep and so forth. Well I'm still wondering. Also if it can be done on the TP....can it be done on the TP2?? Has anyone tried this yet??

good question, if the tp has been done, the tp2 can as well, they both use MEID as serial numbers, and both have sprint branded versions, so I do not see why not.

Re: TP Compatible wit Boost, but is TP2??

Boost uses the iDEN network, and the TP and TP2 do not work on this network, It may be possible to use Nextel phones on boost, but not sprint phones. Work on two different networks. It be like using a sprint phone on ATT

Re: TP Compatible wit Boost, but is TP2??

yes, the touch pro works on boost CDMA service, but it is not offered in new york. i am personally using a TP on boost to type this out. but i required a las vegas number because the service exists there. but i am on new york sprint service.

you will need to purchase a boost cdma phone, its 30 bucks off ebay. activate it,then swap to your TP or TP2. it cannot be done any other way.

search google for a yahoo answers post that will explain the method in detail.

your heavily mistaken. There are two types of boost mobile. The CDMA service, and then they have the Iden service. People have activated touch pro's on the CDMA network, obviously not the iden network. Hence why it would be theoretically possible to do the TP2 as well because of it having a MEID number.

Re: TP Compatible wit Boost, but is TP2??

TP2s have been activated on Boost, no problem. It is now much easier than before to get a Sprint-phone into Boost CDMA, using the automated online system on the Boost website.

Read here about the phones that have been successfully moved into Boost CDMA (almost all except the HTC Hero and Palm Pre)

Read here on the new easier online method, which works every time, and is now the preferred way to move Sprint-branded phones like the TP2 into Boost CDMA:

No offense to MetroPCS, but they are a regional carrier rather than a national one. What that means is that once you travel outside of a certain metro area you usually are "out of luck" with no phone connection whatsoever. I am in the Tampa Bay area, and if I drive just a few miles north and hit towns like Brooksville and Dade City (due 20 miles north of Tampa) there is no more service. That is why I dumped MetroPCS for Boost. Boost has a MUCH greater national footprint, utilizing the entire Sprint CDMA network, no comparison. Now I can drive anywhere I want in the entire state knowing that my phone will work just fine.

Further, that MetroPCS $50 unlimited deal usually comes out to $61 (it did for me) after fees and taxes. Boost CDMA costs me $51.77 per month, a full $10 cheaper than Metro.

Another thing: Many of the recently added MetroPCS cities (i.e. New York, Boston, Las Vegas, etc.) are on the AWS network, requiring AWS phones. Your TP2 is a CDMA phone and would not work in those cities at all, you would be completely blacked out. Not sure what band MetroPCS uses in Chicago, but you get the picture. More than half of MetroPCS' cities would be inaccessible to you because they went "AWS only" in those cities.

Your right, but a few thing's I need to clear up, if she does not travel often it would work out well for her, if she does however, I would suggest the boost over metro as well.. Also she does not have to be on the $50 dollar plan. She can be on the $40 plan with full functionality which will come out to the same cost as the boost CDMA bill would.
