Re: Asurion replacing TP with TP2

I opened up a ticket with Asurion via their website on Sunday and the phone arrived today. BNIB TP2 to replace my damaged eBay bought TP.

I'm pretty impressed with Asurion. It took all of 5 minutes to file a claim and 2 days later I have an overnight'ed replacement. The fact that they upgraded my phone was icing on the cake. Sure it cost me $100 but it sure beats having to buy another phone due to water damage.

Asurion is the cat's meow. Ordered the TP2 via website at 4PM yesterday and it's already on my doorstep next day.

Asurion is highly recommended to everyone with a smartphone.

They dont "tell" you anything...you click through the screens, and it shows you the replacement...if you dont like it, cancel it. If you like it, continue with the claim. Process takes like 8 minutes man :)

everytime it ask me to chose the device , the TP shows, do i have to complete the transaction for me to really know if the device is available, or at the time i choose the device if its not available will tell me?

how would i know?

No, you dont have to complete. It should show that either they have the TP in stock or they dont, in which case they can provide a TP2. All they list is a model # though, it doesnt say TP or TP2. But you dont have to complete the transaction to see.

Re: Asurion replacing TP with TP2

Interesting ... my TP took a dip in a puddle and I pulled the battery as fast as I could get to it. It wouldn't power back up so I submitted a claim with Asurion but didn't pay attention. I needed a phone and was locked into whatever they were offering. Is there any way at this point to determine what they are sending? I am looking at the claim e-mail and tracking e-mail and neither includes a model number (that I can identify).

Best regards,

man..it's a bit upsetting how easy you guys are getting new tp2's so easily, but at the same time am happy for you.

I got suckered into getting bet buy's insurance back in nov 1 2008 because they supposedly "swap your phone for a new one on the spot". Last week I went in because my spacebar doesn't always work. Guess what? new policy, no more swapping phones. I got a loaner phone which required deposit, had to wait for them to ship the phone off to a repair center.

10 days later, (yesterday), picked up my phone. _Same_ exact phone. Technician notes read "adjusted phone settings". Spacebar still only works half of the time, annoying when texting. I'm not one of those guys who wants a free phone either. I've had the same phone since day 1, in Nov 1 2008. /end drama

Well, sprint has open-enrollement in TEP for March. I don't know if you can opt-out of the best-buy insurance, but it is worth considering.

Re: Asurion replacing TP with TP2

Ok, could I get some advice please?

I have a new TP2 replacement coming from asurion in the mail.

Do I sell it on ebay as NIB and buy a touch pro to reap the difference of $200ish?

All of my accessories are for the TP not the TP2. And I plan on buying the next best phone that comes out that is sero compatible.

Thoughts?

Re: Asurion replacing TP with TP2

Is asurion still replacing TP with TP2? I just tried to submit my claim and I got offered a TP. Also is there a waiting period between filing insurance claims for your phone?

I just have one thing to ask, why get rid of the TP2? I personally would stick with and most accessories work for the TP2, speaking cables wise ect. not protective case wise. If you really want to sell it, try ebay, it might sell for a good 300% or c-list. I always have a TP you can buy to be honest ;) refurbished and clean but... this isn't the trade forum so nanana. forget that.

First off sorry for the double post lol. I just woke up so I'm sleepy.

I believe it is all random if they offer a TP2 or not. You can just leave the claim/cancel if you want a tp2, wait a day or two, check back up on stock and then it might just offer you it :)

Re: Asurion replacing TP with TP2

I think when they run out of TP they offer TP2 and other highr phones, and when they fix the TP that came back in the cycle begins again. I got my TP2 last week when several were being offered TP2 as replacements.

My Asurion replaced TP1 went dead and sprint told me to call Asurion for a replacement. After telling what happened and he told me "we are sending you a new phone" When I asked if it was a TP1 he said yes but The guy had one of the thickest spanish accents I've ever encountered, like someone was doing a bad stereotype so I didnt press for a further answer.

But when I check my email this is what is says:

Claim Summary

Date Claim Filed:
04/06/2010

Replacement Model:
HTC Touch Pro II new fully kitted CK

That's good right"??? Fingers crossed!!

I just called Asurion explaining that i been having problems with the phone over heating, reseting, freezing, its slow, and I have a cracked screen. I told them i brought it to sprint and they told me to call asurion. The rep didn't want to offer me a replacement tp2 and said that i have 60 days to continue this claim. Any tips?

I just filed a claim online and it worked. New TP2 on the way. The great thing is that they show you what phone you would be getting before you file the claim.

Thanks kski71

Re: Asurion replacing TP with TP2

Interesting thing happened ... as I mentioned up the thread a bit, I carelessly dropped my TP into a pothole of water. One in a million shot - Frankly couldn't believe it. Did all the right things (immediately pull battery, put in bag of rice) but after 24 hours, it still didn't boot ... it would try and then the screen would flash and it would go into a fit of vibration. The phone is toast, or so I thought.

I submitted my claim online and have my TP2 in hand and as I went to send the TP back in as part of the warranty claim, I slipped the battery in and lo and behold, it booted right into Windows Mobile ... so there is the cmonex bootloader and non-sprint rom. I re-locked the phone and loaded sprint stock on the phone and then started to wonder ... Now that the phone aparently works, will that have any impact on my claim with asurion?

Best regards,
-boggsie

I assume you claimed it as water damaged. I don't think it will really affect it, are the water indicator stickers showing signs off water damage? if you really are worried though.. go ahead and drop it in the toilet or such and let it dry a bit do you don't put it in the package wet, then ship it out to them :D

Been waiting to file this claim for my cracked screen for some time now, TP2 is on it's way. Goodbye overheating, random crashes, and loose slide.

Re: Asurion replacing TP with TP2

hey guys long time lurker been a member for some time. I had to get my touch pro replaced since i lost it. I filed a claim online yesterday and it prompted for a HTC 7380 AKA TP2. I had to fill out a cheesy affidavit and fax it in twice since ID was too dark to read the expiration date. They called me back today and approved it for a reburb TP2 but the email confirmation says " HTC TOUCH PRO II new fully kitted CK" so i am pretty sure it is a brand new but they say refurb just to be safe. So anyone need a claim do it online as of right now they are still giving TP2 for TP

that should be easy call in and say you want a touch screen windows mobile phone that is comparable to the TP and should have widescreen and keyboard with wifi. They will offer couple replacements but the third or fourth should be TP2 just say, "I guess i will take the TP2 if that is all you have."
