Thats why you need to have insurance on these phones. How long have you have the phone active on your acc? and are you the original owner?

Hey, my TP has a bunch of scratches on the sides and back but keyboard, and screen are scratch free, and also it is blacking sometimes, and keyboard doesnt work half the time. Does anyone think that they would replace my phone (considering all the scratches)? I would be fine with another TP but a TP2 would be great! Thing is that I have an upgrade available but would like to try and use my insurance to my advantage. I can also swap phones with my brother then have him take it in but then the problem is that will they know if he just got that TP on his account? He currently doesnt have a TP (he has the pre). Also my TP is on Mightyrom right now should I just flash it back to sprint rom or do i have to do something more than that before taking it in to the store? And is just taking it into the store my best bet?

Well i dialed *2 from my phone, went to an operator to complain about touch pro problems and she passed me onto warranty claims and before I could even complain much to her she offered me a list of Palm Pre, Blackberry Curve or HTC Touch Pro 2 to replace my phone for free. Touch pro 2 is ON THE WAY BABY! 2-3 business days and im in business, i just hope it doesnt suck as hard as the touch pro. How many people are very happy with their replacement? or was it just another phone without much improvement?

Yes, I'm the orginal owner, got the phone new in 2009 (march) and no TEP. I'm gonna renew my contract and just get a better phone, sell this phone off. My contract expired july 09

+1 TP2 on the way. My refurb TP1 I received a few weeks back gets even hotter than the one I exchanged out. Told the slightly uneducated sounding rep I was at a service center this morning and they hard reset and flashed current software onto it, but that didn't help and I was worried about the fire hazards such as have been on the news lately with Ipods and sony batteries. Rep was in process of writing out ticket for another TP1 when I casually asked what comparable models are available with the large keyboard, WIFI and windows mobile. Rep told me TouchPro and TouchPro 2 are available and I asked If I am eligible for a TP2 since I am concerned a TP1 has potentially fatal design flaw, and they told me sure.
So it is true, it all depends on the rep.

ok guys, im not sure that what im about to type has been submitted as a technique yet or not, but this is what i did.

I got an indirect store to open an e-ticket for me because they had to order me a tp.(they coudnt fix it ie: no parts) I told them that on the phone they told me i should ask for a different model phone. That i was "entitled" to more options because of all the replacemetns (6 in my case but anything more than 2 makes you eligible) They said hold on let me check...

"Oh yes, here it is" was her response, as if shed never heard of it before (damn those crooked indirect stores... and direct too) Their was an option that allowed her to order me a different model phone. Anyways because of my plan (SERO, indirect stores have zero access to these account holders plans) she could not tell me what phones on the list where compatible with it (TP2 was not on the list supposedly)...I asked her what do you mean you cant tell me what phones will work with it.... more lies came out of her mouth, essentialy that they didnt know and where not going to make any effort to figure it out, even though a quick (maybe long) call to CS would have done the trick.(cant blame to much since it all worked out in my favor anyways) So she said that I would have to call CS to find out what phones where compatible and to came back in when I could so she could place the order.... the manager (im guessing it was the manager) told her to leave the e-ticket open to make things easier/simpler/faster for when I returned. (AWESOME IDEA!!) They told me to mention a "WEL list" just before i left.

So I go home and call CS, get transferred to Tech Support because he "cant" access or understand what the "WEL list". Once their I spoke with a guy who could not be more contentious. He kept insinuating that he had no idea how he could order a different model phone. And had "no clue" what the "WEL" program was. The only option he could continue with was to start the process of ordering me another TP, and here is THE KEY..... (for me anyways)

He could only order me a phone because a store had started and left open an e-ticket that he could continue with. Otherwise it would have been back to the store for me. Anyways halfway through the order process he says "the program has allowed me to offer you a different model phone.... TP2 WAS!!! on it and the rest is history.....

So....

1) Have a legit problem
2) Go to a store
3) Find a reason to leave ur e-ticket open
4) Call it in to have a tech complete the order and offer you the
complete list of phones on the WEL list.
5) live happily ever after
6) Completely die when you find out the TP2 has its own list of
problems
7) Remain satisfied because you where able to get out of your own personal hell the
TP, and realize that its still 10x better!!!!!

Here is my how I got my TP2:

First I would like to say that I did not think I would get the upgrade though I knew it was possible. I purchased my TP on ebay 135 bucks, the keyboard failed 2 months later. There was not a scratch on the phone so I brought it to a repair center (45 minutes away). They fixed the keyboard and when they were putting it back together I was told I'm due for an upgrade. I was about to pay 299 for the TP2 (I have sero $30 plan so thats as good as I can get). Then he said I have bad and good news, your screen isn't working (bad news), the good you get a free upgrade. 10 minutes later I walked out with a TP2!

So far sprint has been good to me. Got on sero just in time at $30. They screwed up my mogul rebate ($350 not 100). Sold that on ebay for 200 dollars. Bough diamond for 200 after 25% live cash back. Sold that for 50 buck (to a friend) and bough my TP. Overall I have spent about 50 bucks on phones from mogul->diamond->TP->TP2 :headbang:

thats what i told them then they said that its coming up in the system as a reconditioned phone, so the mfg warranty probably wouldnt apply to it.

so needless to say, im stuck.

Yes. Custom ROMs technically invalidate the warranty or TEP.

Flash back to stock ROM and re-lock; I don't think Sprint would be any the wiser.

Really starting to hate sprint's lack of training they seem to give their associates. Went to a sprint store, about to get my 3rd TP in a month, they said it has to be the same kind of phone, they can't get another one. I knew from this thread that was BS, so I called sprint, was told they could do it, transferred me to 3 or 4 different departments where I was given a different answer each time. Nobody there knows WTF is going on I guess.

They know what's going on; they're just trying to keep losses down.

Try asking for a supervisor. If they tell you that the supervisor will just tell you the same thing, insist to be put through anyway.

When you get to the supervisor, be polite and professional, but firm and don't back down. If the supervisor won't meet your needs, ask to be put in contact with his/her supervisor.

Eventually, Sprint will reason with you. They can't afford to lose any customers with all the competition going on between carriers.

Most of the time, the key to getting the results you desire is how you present yourself.

I just got off the phone with tech support. Told them I've been having multiple issues with my TP and that I've had it replaced numerous times. They checked my history and notes. Rep came back and offered me the Snap, BB 8330, Palm Pre & Touch Pro 2. Turns out the TP2 is out of stock right now but she noted on the account that it was offered to me and to call back next week and see where they stand inventory wise. So hopefully it works out for me.

A few questions :
1.) Does this cover water damage, loss, or theft? I ask because I flashed my boot screen like an idiot and cant get it back to normal.

2.)Would they accept the phone back with a dragon on boot? lAnd

4 the record (mw2 woot), I'm not trying to scam...My darn soft reset button (where you stick your styllus) doesnt work anymore :( along with other minor problems.

Walked into a Sprint repair shop last week. Told them about all the problems I've been having. They said that they were replacing TP with TP2 for $50 w/no contract changes. Out of stock at the moment but will call me when in. I said I shouldn't have to pay & they told me they would need to check w/Sprint. Today I got a call that the phone was in & OK for free swap. In and out of store in 15 min. HAPPY ME. Now the hard work begins to replenish my tweaks & reinstall programs.

well i tried to get a replacement today cause phone overheating and keyboard intermittently not working.... talked to tech support offered same model talked to cancellations would only do upgrade talked to tech support same model transferred to cancellations still.... same model.. called my local store talked to guy said wouldnt know unless started order.. asked him if it was same system tech support used he said probably.... so guess im not gettin an upgrade

well just added the march special to the tp here's hoping i get a tp2.....

what is really the best way to go about this? over the phone, in store etc?? what gives the best chances. our local corp store (and i hate to say this has a bunch of a-holes there) i HATE dealing with them. i would much rather over the phone but if its easier in store im walking in.

can someone tell me whats normally the best "issue" to have. my own tp has all kinds of problems. my wife's is physically damaged so i know ill pay the deduct for it but thats fine but mine cuts out, bad reception all the time where my vouge was awesome, gets hot doesnt slide right anymore etc its just terrible. hers actually was fine till i dropped it on her by accident she had no issues with hers lol..

If you never had a replacement....or even had your phone serviced since you got it (whether it be 1 year or 1 day) than please don't expect it to happen! Not saying it's impossible for someone of the type to get one but it is HIGHLY UNLIKELY! Most reps told me I had to have 3 or more replacements before I was even offered a replacement model but the first time I went to get my phone serviced they offered me a replacement model........JUST NOT THE TP2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4)DON'T ASK FOR A TP2! Chances are if they don't offer the TP2 THEY WON'T! I went to a lot of stores asking for the TP2 after they named off the phones I could replace it with! They turned me down within seconds! Instead, put the emphasis on the TP you "want to get fixed!" Kindah like what Dr.8820 said, not necessarily acting like you don't want a TP2 but to act nonchalant about it, staying calm and non-suspicious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5)Don't call sprint because they won't do it for you over the phone unless its a dire situation (like some Saw type thing where your life depends on it............and maybe not even then) Asurion might, sprint will not (unless a dire situation, SAW 1 thru 6)!

6)Keyboard failure and overheating are the most common problems with the TP, so use that to your advantage......

........and last but not least:
Go as many times as you can, don't wait for a couple days and start again! These stores really don't know when they will be able to order these phones so it is kind of a random thing to go to a store and they have'em! Best bet is if they don't offer you a TP2 as a replacement model than take your phone back and go to another store (which is what I did)! Or you can have them order you another TP and take it to another store when you get it! I kindah got lucky because I stopped for like a week and when I went to get it repaired again that was the last time I had to go to a repair center because they finally offered me a TP2! Try not to go to the same store 2wice unless you went to all the stores you can go to! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!

I made the post this big 1)to get everyone who is still trying to get one attention, 2)because people keep asking the same questions and getting the same answers, 3)hoping it will take a whole page so it can be easy to find and 4)so people can at least know that no special words or phrases, memos nor getting mad at sprint just because they won't upgrade you to a TP2 even though its not mandatory for them to do so won't get you anywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No questions need to be asked, just follow this post and you will see what I'm talking about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just another confirmation that it works. my sliding mechanism failed and i have in my hands a new touch pro 2. just cuz your clumsy ass drops the phone doesn't give you a good reason to call and bitch and try to get a new phone. just makes it harder for the rest of us with legit problems to get a good handset.

that's why i love sprint and they have gotten my money since i left bellsouth mobility dcs. (yeah, it's been that long). they've always treated me right and i've always bought new phones, this is only the 2nd time i've asked for a new handset so i guess that was why it was so easy for me to get a new touch pro 2 from my touch pro. oh, also, while my i was on the phone my call dropped 2 times. everytime she called back and then she's like, i see you have bad reception. i'm like, yea, it kinda sux cuz when i'm inside i have no recpetion, and i have to step outside to get even a weak reception so she's also sending in that airwave thingy and they'll bill me just to credit me.

with that level of service, why would i leave sprint?

tp2 with energy rom ftw!!

I posted about 150 pages ago....any progress? Is sprint loosening up? Im still on the fence about the whole tilting crap. As I said a while back, I love my D-pad.

Is it easier to hunt around sprint stores for a week or two, hoping to come across that lucky one that will replace it with a TP2, or pay asurion and get a replacement? Can you even get a TP2 from asurion? 'cuz a week of my time is worth a lot more than $100.

Nope. Asurion just sent me a Touch Pro. They wouldn't even discuss giving me a TP2. They said if I wanted an upgrade that I needed to go to a Sprint store and discuss it with them.

I personally would take it to a repair store. It sounds like that is where you are going to have your best shot based on everything I have read. Hopefully you will get someone who's willing to work with you. Guess I will be hanging on to the touch pro a little while longer.

I was successfull at calling the tech support line. After repeated TP replacements I finally got a tech to replace it with another device (TP2). I will tell you this though, I think it is on a per person,per case basis... When I first started speaking with the tech support guy(USA based) he said that he didn't think that he could swap it out with a different device, but when he looked in my account, he said that he could. I don't know what it was on my account that allowed him to make the swap... it could be any number of things:

1)The fact that I've had 5 Touch Pros
2)I've been a customer since 2007
3)I only have 5 months left in my contract.

Also, the tech support guy said that there were no TP2's available. They are on backorder. He said that I could get a HTC Snap, BB Curve, or Palm Pre. -All of which were not an option. asked him to make a note of it in my profile that I've been approved for a different device other than a 6th Touch Pro. Then, i called back the next day to specifically request to be on the waiting list for a TP2. This time I got a rep from India who said that they can't put people on a waiting list on the national number, but that I could get on the waiting list at a store. I then asked her if I have been approved to get a TP2 and she said yes! I then asked her to make a note of it in my profile.

I then went to the store and asked to be put on the waiting list for a replacement Touch Pro2. The guy at the store looked at me like I was nuts and said that they don't swap TP's for TP2's. I then asked for the manager who said the same thing. BUT I then told them to look at my profile since I was told that I was already approved by Sprint. Once they saw the note in my account they OKed it and said that I could pick up my Touch Pro2 the next day. (It should be there today)!!

OK. So I just got a SERO account off of craigslist.I I was told that I would be extending my contract by 2 years if I bought a phone on the Sprint site which is fine with me because I have 22 months on this transfered contract anyway. I also have TEP. Any advice on getting a tp2 for the cheapest.
