Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I'm really sorry for anyone who hasnt been able to get a TP2 through sprint. But, I got one a month ago and I really missed the led flashlight and the dpad. I use the flashlight everywhere. So I went back to the store and got them to order me a refurb tp1. They looked at me like I was retarded but they obliged. Just got it and I have to say that I really am happier with the original TP

you know there are hundreds of people trying to get into a touch pro 2 who have brand new refurbished touch pro's. you could have just traded someone who is having a hell of a time and made someones day. |

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
yes, you can use the slide out for hard directional pad. you even have onscreen directional keys when you open the onscreen keyboard. hey if mastahc411 likes the touch pro over the tp2 great that he has what he wants i was just a little irritated by the fact that there are so many trying to get our hands on one and sprint keeps telling us no that someone would have been glad to just swap out a mint condition tp for the tp2 he returned to sprint. thankfully i just received my tp2 but i had to go through some hoops getting it. if someone offered me a trade i would have been all over it.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Hey, I got sent a refurb TP1 instead of a TP2, but thats fine with me I guess, so I can make a case that I went through at least 1 replacement before and it doesn't work. I was wondering if I could keep the battery cover, backcase, and stylus and just send back the phone without them? They sent me a new charger and battery.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
In case anyone wonders, once you open an Asurion claim, it stays open for 60 days if you don't finalize it and I was told there is no way to close it or change the original details. So if you claim the phone was destroyed/damaged on 2/20/10 and don't finalize it until you see a TP2 in stock a month and a half later, not sure if that puts up a flag or anything.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I got my TP2 on Thursday... I stopped in at the Sprint store on Monday complaining of the common issues, and immediately the tech (female, and good lookin) said that the issues were all the standard known issues with the TP. She said that the TP2 wasn't available, but would keep checking. I called back on Tuesday and she said she was able to put one on "hold". But still not available! Then on Thursday afternoon, I got a phone call saying I can come pick up my TP2. Haven't had time to check if it was actually a refurb or not, but I'm sure it is, since it didn't come with a box or anything, just the phone and charger!
Goodluck to all! And see you all on the TP2 forums!!! Time to start flashin! Tim |

Yeah so an update on my referb touch pro 2. The windows key and back key are screwed up. the button does not click anymore and seems to have a mind of its own. the problem is that the store is not going to help because it works most of the time. just doesn't have the click and gets stuck. oh well hopefully another problem will arise and i can get another. just tought i woudl update looks like the tp2 has some issues as well or i am just unlucky.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Just wanted to add my experience today. My TP has been in poor shape for a while now but today it finally died; it was plugged in, charging, and when I went to remove it from the charger, the screen was distorted and the device wouldn't respond. Tried to do a soft reset with the stylus, and the device turned off but would not turn back on.
Filed a claim through phoneclaim.com/sprint and was told that I would be received a 6850 (Touch Pro) and not a Touch Pro 2. Oh well, at least it'll be almost new... |

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I got my TP replaced with a TP2...
I called customer support and asked for tech support. Explained my issues, and they said they could give me a Palm, BB, or some other things, nothing about TP2, asked if they could note on the account the issues I was having (oily looking screen, random resets) and they did. Went into the store, they said they couldn't get me a TP2, but would exchange it for another TP, when they went to order it they said that the TP2 was indeed available as an exchange, but only as refurbished, to which I readily agreed to. I just picked it up and am about to start customizing now! Being polite yet firm (and playing dumb) always gets me places ;) |

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I got my latest replacement TP, which worked OK for the first few days, except for the recessed power button (have to dig in to press it, very annoying). I took it to the Sprint store to see if they could fix, but they told me it wasn't a problem and wouldn't fix it. So I have an annoying power button, I guess I can live with that...
But now I have an even more annoying issue with the touch screen, which is behaving all sorts of erratic. It seems to think a lot of my button presses are in the lower left hand corner of the screen. Try sliding through TouchFlo, and it hits the Phone softkey. I try closing a window, it clicks the left softkey. It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, it's obnoxious. I try scrolling DOWN through album, it tries to scroll up at the top. This is my 3rd Touch Pro, and I'm on the verge of canceling and getting the Nexus One. |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
After dealing with instore reps and techs being unable to help and calling sprint and speaking to numerous personal on the phone. I have decided to take one more stab at getting my phone replaced through the store. The last time I spoke to a Supervisor in the Advance Tech Support who said they created an eticket which can be looked up by the sprint rep and explain the problems had so far with store and over the phone with trying to get a replacement phone.
I'm going to make an appointment but wanted to get some feedback on whats the best steps to take with getting them to swap my tp for a tp2 or just another tp hopefully with less issues. I have the normal malfunctions with randon phone shut offs, terrible battery life, laggy when running more then 2 apps, but still have no luck with getting it replaced because they are unable to duplicate the problem. If everything has been noted in my account and a rep transferred me to advance exchange but were unable to send another phone because I have had over 3 replacements this year. Should I be able to get a new phone that day if in stock at the store? Should they be able to order me a tp2? What steps should I take to ensure this is my last trip to the sprint store? Look forward to everyones responses. Thanks in advance |

this is a common issue with the tp1. the bezal near the mic likes to break. i have had one and my cousin has one thats broken in the same spot (exposes main board). bad news is this is considered physical damage and sprint can not repair under warranty. phone must be replaced through insurance. |

too get the tp2 they have to be in stock if they are not then they will get you a tp. |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
then you my friend got lucky.
when you deal with a repair center/corp store, they won't touch it with physical damage. if you can still do advanced exchange, you can do it but there is a chance they will charge you for the phone once they see the physical damage. same with insurance. if they see physical damage on a warranty repair, they will charge you full price of the phone. obviously if you go through insurance and pay the deductible, they won't care about the physical damage. |

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
TP2 Sucks. Ive had mine for 1 day and Im going back to TP. True if the TP2 worked it would be better than all my nonworking tp's, but they both dont work. And both working, id go with the tp1. Why? No flash, no d-pad, no tap key, set up really bad, cant click on top for battery and commission manager...Whats better? Well the screen is obviously much better for videos, and the speakerphone is great, but worth it? I think not! I want a phone thats user friendly and the TP2 sucks! And the one they sent me works about as well as a TP1 so might as well have the tp1, or else ANY BETTER IDEAS FOR OTHER PHONES?

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I took my touch pro to the store. It was preapproved for replacement by advance tech support. Unfortunately, they did not have a TP2. But the store rep said he would keep looking for TP2. It seems TP2 is hard to get? What gives, is it really in that short of supply? Would it be better for me just to call advance tech support again? Thanks

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Did you ask him if he could call in an order for you.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Well with all the crazy stuff going on with the TP to TP2 I was wonder what to do with my TP, being the keyboard stopped working too. So I looked at an online claim but it said I would get another TP, I didn't want that so I reflashed my back to the stock rom and took it to a store to see what would happen. Dropped it off came back in 45mins and was told it could not be fixed and would have to be replaced, rep told me I could get a TP but said that would be a bad idea and then told me I could have a TP2 but would have to order it. Well that was on thursday nite and I got my TP2 on monday afternoon that was sent to the house. Just wanted to share my story with all thats been going on with this mess.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I just got my 2nd TP2.
Was to go snowboarding with my brother two weeks ago and he wasn't answering my phone calls to set meeting time/place. Got him online via IM and he tells me his TP died. Oh noes! I told him to pull the battery and bring it to snowboarding. I have a spare TP I activated on his # (I am account manager), installed myphone and brought that with me. Turns out his screen died and the vibrator sounds like a dying cow. Sweet. I took his dead phone and gave him my spare. He popped in his sd card, signed into myphone and restored his contacts and txts. Life is good for him. I waited for Monday to see what I can do with this brick. Looked it over, still great shape. No obvious physical damage - no moisture. Used myMobilier to see if it was ok. It was, so I activated it on my # and then it was repair store, harch. The local repair guys told me they can't fix it and wanted to put me on a new phone. They offered me a Pre, a Treo, a BB, a Snap. Oh oh. Told them I really love the TP and would prefer to just get another. No can do was the initial response. Then a repair tech offered me a refurb that they had but also started to steer me to the TP2. I let him roll with his pitch that the TP2 is better and what can I say? I gave in and took one. They pulled out a NIB and activated it for me. I was pretty happy. (except for the stock rom on it of course!) Down to one last spare TP though. Time to carry that one til it fails too! |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
My TP has been getting really, really hot lately, to the point of my noticing it through my pockets. Was able to arrange an advanced exchange for it, and the woman even asked "Now, are you looking for a different model..?" I told her I would take whatever. She put me on hold and said there was a TP coming my way.
Here's hoping it's really a TP2, but ah well. |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
So after many calls to CS had them create an eticket for me with the hopes of an easy transaction and I'm glad I did went into my local Sprint store where I have gotten no help in the past, but things were different. I was the only customer in the store my name was on the board for service when I got there by setting up an appointment. Spoke to one rep who took my phone and information gave it to the tech and within 15 minuets was called and told they were ordering my a BNIB Touch Pro 2 that will be available for pickup on Monday. Asked the rep what I needed to bring in and she said just the phone. Cannot wait to swap out my phone, if anyone has not had success in the past I would say to try again.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
My phone is beginning to fail me, the screen goes black at times and then turns back on, also the slider is bending a little to the right when I close it. I have no insurance and sprint won't help me out, they want me to upgrade my phone and sign a new contract.
