Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I just exchanged my Touch Pro (#3 for me) for a Touch Pro 2 today. I received my last TP two weeks ago when I was shipped a Reburb Pro on an Advance Exchange. My previous phone was locking up overnight and overheating. The refurb Pro locked up on me a few times in the first week. In addition to that the G Sensor was defective. It would not calibrate at all and it made any App that used the G Sensor impossible to use.
I paid a visit to a local repair center on Friday and gave them my story... just received a refurb and that it was defective. Asked politely if they could help me or if I would have to do the Advance Exchange again. I made no mention of the TP2 or any other model phone. The rep asked to look at the phone and pulled up my account. A few minutes later he came back and apologized for the problems that I was having and asked if it would be ok if they ordered a new Touch Pro 2 for me. "That would be great." I was told that the TP2 would have to be ordered and should be in by Tuesday. I received a call today... it was in a day early. The phone is a refurb as well but it looks perfect. I was just given the phone, battery and a charger/USB cable. No manuals, etc. I guess that only thing that I am not 100% happy about is that I did not receive the extra stylus and screen protector that is supposed to be included with a new phone. Did anyone else get these? I asked at the repair center and the had no clue about what I was talking about. I do not really need the stylus but I would like to get the screen protector. I used it on the TP and I think it saved me from scratching the screen up. I guess I will stop by another Sprint store and see if they can get me a screen protector. BTW: Anyone need a brand new screen protector or stylus for a Touch Pro? I still have one screen protector and two styli that I no longer need. |

Do you think they would actually do that? Its a replacement, would they give you a stylus and screen protector?? My refurb didnt come with a charger, can I at least ask for that?

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
csr or *2. you might have some luck at the store if the rep is cool. as far as the charger, i'm using the one for the tp because they are the same.

And then the end guy was trying to tell me to basically suck it up and use my 1-year upgrade tomorrow and buy a Hero. And he tried to tell me I'd get 75$ off the new 2 year contract price, which in my experience is absolutely false! He went on to try to tell me he had come from phones with keyboards and it was just as good, I told him that's nice but I prefer a tactile keyboard. He mentions, "Oh but the hero vibrates and when you press it the keyboard raises up the screen." #-o I finally asked him to just transfer me to retentions, and he said he needed a reasons. Umm I guess b/c I want to cancel my account? And he transfered me right over. The first woman I got in retentions was incredibly helpful, but as soon as I thought I was going places she transfers me to her supervisor who claims he used to own all the sprint stores in my city, I told him that's nice but that doesn't pertain to my problem. He kinda seemed sad that I wasn't impressed with his resume. But regardless he went and turned all the help I was getting and said I'd have to go to a corporate store. So I went to the corporate store near me and they took about an hour to tell me the keyboard was out and they probably wouldn't be able to fix it, they would need to order parts, however they couldn't do so b/c the previous store I went to already put in a ticket for me. So I tried to call that store and cancel it but he said oh there's no way we can we'll just send it back when we get it in tomorrow. /Sigh. Sprint you never cease to inconvenience me sometimes. I'm just gonna politely refuse the TP again tomorrow and go home and get what I was promised the very first time. I have no more faith in the reliability of the TP, as much as I love it. }: |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Got the TP2! Great phone, great feel, all around a better deal. This is EXACTLY what the TP should have been in the first place. Only gripes I have are the location of the soft reset button and no flash but I can live without them. Thanks to the OP and the rest of you out there for your info, and I hope I see you guys over in the TP2 sections!

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
@ isloth, if you're offered another tp, take it. but being nice and calm goes a long way with these reps. if you are demanding in any way, they will not help you. good luck soldier.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Round Two:
Went to a sprint ASC in Columbia, TN with the refurb TP I got last week, because it isn't marking my texts as read correctly, and because texts and opera have been locking it up the phone. The manager there saw it happen. So she calls sprint technical support, because this is "their problem" because they sent me the phone just last week. I go to TS -> Advanced TS -> Then some other guy who answered as "escalations" or something. His claim was that he and everyone in his office had TP's, and he went around to each cubicle and asked each person there if their TP had the same problems as mine, and they said theirs did, so he couldn't help me. (Specifically, he said it was a bug in the latest ROM, but it was somehow not a device issue, but a WM issue, even though previous Sprint official ROMs didn't have the problem. The ROM I have now from Sprint has S2A, apparently released on Sep 22.) He said he could ONLY do and advanced exchange for another TP (Even though last week, I got offered the Snap, Pre, etc.), and that when mine came back in, it would be deemed non-defective, and I'd get charged $200. He said he'd notate my account about our conversation, and I could try calling *2 and getting the money credited back after it was on the bill. What a load of crap! The manager at the store was really nice, though. She was on the phone with TS for 2 hours, one hour past closing. She seemed like she was new or something, like she was hesitant to do anything. She said she'd call her people tomorrow and call me and let me know if she can do anything for me, cause it was after 5 p.m. I honestly think she thought if the refurb was less than 30 days old, it had to go back to Sprint to support, but Idk. There are 17 other repair centers in the middle TN area I am going to hit up one by one until I get something resolved! I think the *2 option is just totally hit or miss, mostly miss. You could call in 5 times a day and get 5 different results. |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Arterion,
good luck to you, i have tried the Vanderbilt ASC, no go, the West End ASC location, no go, and the worst is they will tell you on advanced exchange to go to Brentwood and they are liars and rude there, no matter how nice you are been there 3 times with 2 TPs and they "cant find the problem but you can use a 150 towards your new phone," and "you are lucky to be on that plan you are on," or "Windows Mobile is bad and buggy, every try a Blackberry?" If you find a place, let me know, I am tempted to drive to Kennesaw just to end this saga. |

I'm just gonna have to go in to the store tomorrow, pick up my TP from the store and hopefully the guy that actually cares about his job (there's another guy at the store who is just there to be there, seems to have no interest in it at all; while the other actually cares about what he does and is very knowledgeable/interested in all types of phones). Hopefully he's there so I can get the exchange from him! But alas, onto another TP I go! |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
well my wife will be taking my TP to the sprint store to see what the tech will give me since my KB is dead im hoping for a Hero
|
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I got a call form the Sprint store today saying they got my replacement phone in today (Monday). Hopefully by "replacement phone" they mean a Touch Pro 2 like they told me on Friday. I'll post and let everyone know what happens when I pick it up tomorrow(Tuesday).
For the people who have the Touch Pro 2 are there any problems with it like the Touch Pro 1 or have all the bugs been worked out? |

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Just spoke to the sprint repair shop near my house and they told me that
The touch pro 2 has been taken off the Advance Exchange list! Is this the truth? If not is there anything I can do about this? How can I get my touch pro 2 Im having keyboard issues. thank you |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Hey guys, quick question concerning whether or not i can swap my TP for a TP2. I'm currently on my 4th touch pro, and the most recent swap was through advanced exchange online. Before taking my defective phone and sending it back to sprint, i brought it to the store and had the tech look at it, and replace the keyboard. BUT the manager handed me her card and said if anything happens again give her a call and she'll try and get me a new phone. Now my screen is messed up (loose, and distorts color when touched). Think this is good enough to count towards a phone swap?

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I think if it's out-of-stock it can be absent from the list, but I'm not sure. The past week, there have been a lot of posts from people who've gotten the TP2, but no one has been able to confirm the status of the original memo. Our ability to get a TP2 hinges on a two angles:
1a) That the Oct 6 memo is still in effect: TP's should be exchanged from a phone on the WEL list on their FIRST replacement, instead of waiting until three replacements have been made. 1b) That the TP2 is still on the WEL list. 2) That a manger of either a store or at the call center takes pity and makes an exception to normal procedure, and issues a TP2 as a courtesy. I confirmed 1a last week (11/23) when I did an Advanced Exchange via tech support for another TP. I was offered the standard options (Pre, Snap, etc.), but specifically NOT the TP2. The tech did mention something about how he thought the TP2 belonged on the list, and even put me on hold to double check that. I didn't even mention the TP2, he did. But he came back and said it wasn't on there. This may mean it was removed, or it could mean it's just out-of-stock? However, yesterday (11/30), I ended up on the line with tech support again and was told that NO other phones were available... but again, I think it's because that's the NORMAL policy. The TP is, by the Oct 6 memo, an exception to normal policy, and not everyone who works for Sprint is aware of that at this point. The tech from last week initially told me that I could ONLY swap for another TP until he actually started the process on his computer, and the other options came up. He said he had never seen that before -- which totally confirm the "unaware" hypothesis of why some people may be getting told that they can only swap for another TP. EVEN IF the TP2 is off the WEL, as long as they were trying to get you out of the TP, I'd go for the second angle, because we all know none of the other phones on the list are comparable to the TP. Tell them you gotta have a touch screen and full QWERTY keyboard on windows mobile, but you don't want another TP dud. The only realistic choice for replacement is the TP2. |

When you say "Advanced Exchange via tech support" are you talking about calling sprint or going to a sprint store? Once again thank you for the clarifications |

i was told that Advance exchange would offer me a TP2 only after the TP was changed 3 diffrent times within 6 months ...im on my third one now ..

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
My tp has now stopped working. I have had it charging for like 4 hours. The phone won't turn on or off now from the power button. If I do a soft reset it goes off ok and comes back on but I can hear the bleep that indicates the battery is very low. I have taken the battery out for more than 3 minutes and the same thing happens. No matter what u press the screen stays the same. I cant even get to the home screen now. Does anyone know a way to get past this so I can save all my contacts, calls, etc? I have a replacement coming hopefully tomorrow but I can't be without a phone that long. I may have to have them change my phone to an old palm centro till I get the refurb in the mail. This is total doodoo! PLEASE DOES ANYONE KNOW?
I just got an email on my order confirmation. It was just mailed out 2day. That phone should have been mailed ot yesterday. Urgh! |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
you should still able to sync your phone and view all of the phone info there.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Well I have two accounts each with touch pros. I was able to get my gf's touch pro replaced from asurion through the warranty portion. She got it about 2 months ago straight from asurion through a warranty exchange. I called asurion and spoke to tech support and told them the keypad wasn't working. They tried troubleshooting over the phone and offered to send me a touch pro. I asked if I could get another model and they offered the touch pro 2. My gf got it already.
But i can't get sprint to swap my touch pro. I tried filing a claim with asurion and they offered a Treo pro. =( |

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Just picked up my BNIB TP2. Even let me keep the batter cover and stylus, so now my sister has extras. And just for the fun of it, I got my wife the Hero. So now that there's a forum on here for that, I'm going to make her sign up to be a PPCGeek herself, no more helping her. lol.
