Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
i have checked both birmingham,al stores and have been told by both not is stock and can only order from the website or telesales. also that they don't believe the will ever get the phone in stock?!?!?!
never mentioned i was having issues for the the 4th time!!! so looks like the alabama store are just backwards...what a surprise. |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
If there is something wrong with your TP then it isn't a scam. Hopefully people won't scam and in turn raise our pricing. I am fortunate that mine is working fine for now. But I have invested quite a bit in extended batteries, case, and docking station to want to give that up.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Mine works great too, as much as I've beat on her this past year and how much abuse it takes she's still running like a champ. I'm gonna go w the hero but this is kool that sprint is replacing the tp w tp2's

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Lol.. i'm a little upset that i'm one of the few with a quality built TP. Bought it in early november last year and haven't had any issues..

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I find it a little hard to believe that some users have had 5+ defective TPs. Its funny these are the same guys saying others are wrong for trying to get there TP replaced for no reason. I've had 2 TPs and the only reason is because the first had cracked chrome. I don't know what people are doing to cause the phones to break so easily. Those who have replaced there TP 5 or more times are the reason why sprint is replacing the phones in the first place. Someone like me who would like to swap out there phone for a TP2 is actually saving sprint money because I have not sent back all these "defective" phones. Also the sprint store said I would have to have my TP replaced 3 or more times before they would even consider replacing it. OK let the flaming begin for posting a opinion.

Not a Flame, just a voice of reason, because I am shocked at how poorly made the TP is: I have two accounts with TP's on them. I started with the Hitachi G1000 (the very first WM Smart Phone). I had ONE of these and when it died I was upgraded to the HTC Wizard (Sprint 6600). I had ONE of these. When the 6600 died I was upgraded to the Sprint 6700. I had ONE of these. It lasted two years. When the 6700 died I was upgraded to the 6800 (Sprint Mogul). I had the first one for 18 months. I had the second one for three months and then it died. My wife liked the 6700, so I bought her one off ebay. It last 11 months. When it died she was upgraded to a Touch Pro. When my 6800 died i was upgraded to a Touch Pro. I have since had 6 Touch Pro's. My Wife has had 5 Touch Pro's. See the history here? Touch Pro's are defective |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Lol.. i find it pretty wild to have to replace a phone 5 plus times also.. I work construction and keep this thing clipped to my tool belt and it's still in pristine condition. Although i will say that i bought a brand new Touch pro for my g/f and within 2 weeks the keyboard failed. So i do see where people are coming from when they say they have been through several with the keyboard issue.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I had my first TP replaced back in Jan. I got a NIB replacement and it's been flawless ever since.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Has anyone tried the reapair center/sprint store in Northridege California?
Honrstly, the reps in that store suck and are full of it. Last month when I took my Tohch Pro to get my keyboard fix, they told me I had to leave the phone with them for the whole day and pick it up the next day around 2:00 pm. I was so fuc*** pissed but I was cool if they actually fixed it. (Note; I took the phone in the morning not when the store was about to close) Anyways, I come pick it up and I had to wait 1 hour just for the rep to return the phone. (I was like wtf) So after they call my name the guy is like "Hi Mr. Erick, we have some good news and some bad news. Which would you like first?" I said the good news. Rep: "Well the good news is that we were able to fix your keyboard but the bad news is that you have to pay $120. I was like " Wtf, $120 for a known hardware issue plus it is still under 1 year warranty. I can break it and call Asurion and they will ship me a new Touch Pro for $100) Rep says: " Well Mr. Erick, your account says that you do not have TEP. At this point I was really mad, I said can I speak to the manager?). Rep; Yeah one moment, he is helping other customers. It took me 20 more min to talk to the manager. At the end, manager lied to me saying that there was some issues going on with peoples accounts and bla bla bla. I left the store wit my fixed Touch Pro. Know about a month later, my keyboard is having issues again and the mic sounds like poop. Im just going to wait till the damn keyboard dies. (Sorry for any mistakes, typing from an Ipod) |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
If this phone has been their most problematic ever you would think they would offer a one time upgrade credit to move people off of it onto something else. At least they are replacing the broken ones with a newer model.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Yesterday I gave Sprint customer service a call to see if I could get my touch pro replaced over the phone to avoid going to a store. I told the csr that I was having problems with my screen. She issued me a ticket number to go to a local sprint store, as they have to verify the screen issues before issuing me a replacement.
I had to leave my phone at the store for an hour, and when I returned the had updated the rom and claimed that this new software was a cure all fix for every issue I had mentioned. I wasn't going to leave so easily so I complained to the tech at the store that I didnt want to be without a phone on vacation and basically demanded that it be replaced. During this conversation I tried to convince him to order me a touch pro 2 instead, as I was sick of the issues I had been having with my touch pro. He didn't want to give me an upgrade, so I asked him to make sure that my replacement was a new phone (mostly out of spite). When the tech came back to the help desk, he had a smirk on his face. They ran out of touch pros at the local warehouse, so he had to order me a touch pro 2. So I got my touch pro upgraded for free to a touch pro 2. |

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I only pay $1500 a year form phone service so I kinda wonder who is stealing from who. especially since Americans pay more for cell sevice than any were else in the world. I'm just saying thats all.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Just dropped off my TP at the sprint store in Pasadena. I'm going back in half an hour or so. Let's see what happens.. My screen had this weird rotation issue where portions of the screen was landscape and others were portait.. I dunno how to explain LOL! LETS SEE WHAT HAPPENS! (NEW TP2 PLOX!) (pardon my typing :D)

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I hate when people say "upgrade"
You didn't upgrade. Upgrade is when you sign a 1 or 2 year contract and pay for a phone. |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Just tried this over the phone at retintions (sorry if miss spelled). My Touch Pro is really defective. They then transferred me to a tech rep. They are sending me another Touch Pro 1. ](*,)

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
when my phone was swapped from a mogul to a TP i had to extend my contract. I would be seriously surprised if the contracts aren't getting re-upped. but again I just hope I get a working phone out of this refurb or new i don't care as long as it wasn't a POS like all the mogul refurbs...

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
anyone is houston get the swap?
|
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
FYI, I had my TP replaced with a TP2. The store did need to order it, however, they said that it is in stock now. IDK if it's a refurb or new one though.
*EDIT* They just called me and said it's on backorder and can't be ordered. They did say that they would order it when the system would let them. |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
im having keyboard issues and the oil spot on my screen should i call asurion?
|
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Success! I went into my repair center in Charlotte, NC. I told them I was having keyboard issues again (this is my third touch pro) and they recognized me as having had trouble before. I sat down and the first thing the guy said was that they could give me a treo pro or a snap. I said no, neither of those phones will work for me. I told him I was told that a Touch Pro2 would be a comparable replacement when I called and talked to someone. At first he told me that there was no way they could do that because they didn't have it yet. I asked him to order it.
I sat there for about five minutes and he asked someone else something and then asked what my address was. He printed out a receipt and said that he had ordered me a Touch Pro2 and it would be at my house next week. Now I just have to wait. The best part? They never even looked at my phone. |

|
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
went to repair center yesterday and the tech told me they are advising to not replace TPs with another TP and basically gave me the option to replace it with any phone i wanted. naturally, i got the TP2 and its coming monday!
now im debating whether i want to keep the TP2 or get the Hero. decisions decisions. |

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
The repair center by me told me I had to be on at least my 3rd TP before they could replace it. They want to know if I want my current TP replaced I said I would have to think about it. So I don't know if I want to jump through all these hoops just for a TP2. Especially since 6.5 isn't available yet. They told my an HTC with android was coming soon so I might hold out for that.

I dunno, I held onto a dieing phone for a few months... its jut not worth dealing with the glitches when I am paying for a service that states that my phone should function free of manufacturer's defect.

But a bunch of fools on this forum will have you think that it's your fault the TP is failing. No, it isn't dummies it's crappy quality control, face it and take HTC's schlong out of your throat before you catch something. |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
no luck for me, tried calling in. my phone is bad. and got transfered all over the place. i finally got a guy who said "No way will you ever get a diffrent phone model, you can only get the same one." i told him the person at the store told me that i can do that because they been so many problems with them. he said thats false info. :( didnt try to store yet but i highly doubt it will work. just ganna take it in tomorow and just try to get it fixed since i dont think tp2 is an option. i do have the extra wareenty on the phone so i prolly will just get another tp.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
holy hassle!
allow me to lay it out for you and share my frustration my 3rd replacement is being wonky...
so thursday afternoon, i'm going to call (just to make sure!) before i drive way out of my way for nothing... :) like i said, this had all better be worth it... i drove eighty (yes, 80) miles out of my way today |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I have a great story to tell you. I went to the nearest Sprint Repair center. Before I went I didn't knew about this replacing Touch Pro with the Touch Pro 2. So I went to the dealer and the guy ask me if I had insurance I said yeah I do. So he Instant message a other Sprint store if they have the TP2. He was offering me $200 bucks for the TP2 ( Not a new one ) plus for me to give him my TP1 as a swap...I felt I was getting a deal but it was sketchy. So that same night I read this thread and I was very upset because I was getting hustle...( Bastard! )
So I call Sprint rep and they Transfer me to ACS. I explain all details and they going to send me a Brand New Touch Pro 2 for free. Who ever lives in NYC. Keep a eye out from these 3rd Party Sprint stores... |
